Wade scores 19 as U.S. tops Angola
2008-08-14 19:03:00 Dwyane Wade led the U.S. basketball team to a 97-76 victory over Angola today, scoring 19 points as the Americans improved to 2-0 in group play. Wade, the former Marquette star and guard for the Miami Heat, sank 6 of 8 shots from the field and 5 of 7 free throws. Dwight Howard added 14 points, and LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony each had 12 for the U.S. Milwaukee Bucks guard Michael Redd played 14 minutes in a reserve role and scored two points on 1-of-4 shooting. The U.S. next will play Greece at 7 a.m. Thursday (Milwaukee time). Greece defeated the U.S. in the semifinals of the 2006 World Championships, forcing the Americans to settle for the bronze medal. "It's been circled on my calendar for a while now," Anthony said. "Since we left Japan (at the worlds) it's been circled on my calendar."

2008-04-26 18:00:00 Plus de 300 personnes sont mortes de la malaria au cours du premier trimestre de l'année dans la province de Huila (sud de l'Angola), a affirmé mercredi un responsable du service de la santé. Barnabe Lemos, chef du Département de la santé publique et du contrôle des maladies endémiques de la province de Huila, a informé la presse qu'un total de 6 108 cas de malaria ont été enregistrés dans l'hôpital central de la province. Parmi les malades, plus de 3 300 se trouvent dans un état grave, a fait savoir M. Lemos.
