Anne Rice clarifies statement made to Time magazine
2008-03-01 16:59:00 Anne Rice has posted a clarification of the statement Time Magazine published a little while ago about the possibility of her writing another Vampire Chronicles novel. She affirms, much to my disappointment, that, if she is to write another vampire novel, it will be a Christian-centric book focused around the “word of the lord”. Here ...

Stranger than fiction: Anne Rice endorses Hillary Clinton
2007-10-22 15:53:00 This post is another in the series of interviews with my colleague Paul Kengor regarding social issues and the 2008 election. This one veers off this track a bit in that we discuss the recent conversion of author Anne Rice to Catholicism as well as her endorsement of Hillary Clinton for president. Dr. Kengor takes ...

Christians & Political Parties: A Response to Anne Rice
2007-08-23 19:30:00 This is one of my longer posts, possibly the longest I’ve done on my personal blog. What happened was, I was reading an open letter from a Christian planning on voting a particular way, and as I read further and further into it, one objection after another kept coming to my mind, and one problem after another regarding the writer’s reasons kept getting in the way. Finally, I realized I’d have to just set aside some of my typical day-to-day blogging of the link-and-quick-comment type, and go in-depth into the problems I see with the author, and Christians in general, who vote Democratic for specifically Christian reasons, and especially regarding the social issues brought up in the letter. Pull up a cup of coffee and sit back. Anne Rice is a Catholic author. I’ll admit to not being too well-read, but as a Protestant my knowledge of Catholic authors is even more limited. Therefore, I’m not sure how much Ms. Rice’s views are mainstream Catholic,...
Anne Rice Endorses Rodham, Big Deal
2007-08-20 18:09:00 Anne Rice, the author who changed her life by converting from atheism to Catholicism and writes religious books has endorsed Hillary Rodham for the presidency. Her endorsement is very long with rationalization for her choice but it seems to boil down to a misunderstanding of reality and the idea that party trumps all else. Rice ...

Anne Rice?s Jesus Book Coming to Big Screen
2007-03-31 17:31:00 Filed under: Casting, Deals, Fandom, Distribution, ReligiousFor those who don't remember, author Anne Rice underwent a big religious conversion about ten years ago, and swore off vampirism in favor of writing about Jesus. She went so far as to give interviews saying that she would never write another vampire book even if it meant financial ruin. Apparently, her change in lifestyle hasn't deteriorated her writing ability -- those I know who have read Christ the Lord: Out of Egypt say its an interesting book with Rice's distinctive flair. Hollywood, which is all a-twitter lately with Jesus material, despite the bomb of The Nativity Story, is also apparently interesting in continuing its on-again-off-again relationship with Rice. IGN is reporting that plans are underway to bring Christ the Lord to the big screen, toot sweet. A company called Good News Holdings, backed by a man named George Barna, is going to produce the film and shoot it in Israel. The next issue of course, is one ...

Anne Rice - Christ the Lord Out of Egypt
2006-12-14 09:22:01 From The Oprah & Friends Radio Show with Dr. Robin Smith, 15 December 2006 Christ the Lord Out of Egypt: A Novel by Anne Rice Having completed the two cycles of legend to which she has devoted her career so far, Anne Rice gives us now her most thoughtful and powerful book, a novel about the childhood of Christ the Lord based on the gospels and on the most respected New Testament scholarship. The book?s power derives from the passion its author brings to the writing, and the way in which she summons up the voice, the presence, the words of the young Jesus who tells the story.
