2007-07-19 16:09:00 In honor of yesterday's debut (and rapid sell-out) of Anya Hindmarch's "I'm Not A Plastic Bag" tote in select NYC Whole Foods Markets, I thought you might enjoy this little video documenting the craze. I just had my first in-the-flesh spotting of this uber hot bag this weekend. I was at my local Target store when an overdressed girl in too-tight True Religion jeans and mile-high heels teetered by me in the parking lot sporting the now infamous Anya Hindmarch tote. Apparently she was using this eco-conscious bag as a purse... while she blissfully pushed a cart full of-- AHEM-- plastic bags to her car. For shame. I expect more from fashionistas in the eco-aware SF Bay Area. The sight of it made me gag a little. I'm Not A Plastic Bag Frenzy Continues
2007-07-18 19:29:00 Photo via EcorazziYes, Whole Foods has sold out of the 20,000 available totes as the frenzy for the Anya Hindmarch I'm Not A Plastic Bag bag continued today. Many of these sold-out bags are purportedly now being listed on eBay.Hundreds of people lined up at Whole Foods locations in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut early to purchase the bags. New York City stores had about 2,900 each to sell while each suburban location had 300 bags. The New York Columbus Circle store sold out of its nearly 3000 bags in 29 minutes. It has been reported that a fight broke out there when one woman pushed her way to the front saying she should go ahead because she worked for the NYC schools. Anya Hindmarch 'Marlie' Bag
2007-05-15 13:00:00 I must say that the general look and design of Anya Hindmarch's bags have evolved tremendously. Previously, one could more or less identify an Anya Hindmarch piece by looking at it, but this one had me baffled. When I saw this, I initially thought that it was a Gucci piece, due to the chain link gold bits in the middle of the bag, as Gucci had a few bags in a similar design and style, from the embossed leather GG monogram collection. Much to my surprise, it was actually an Anya Hindmarch piece. Made of White leather with chunky gold chain detailing and lined in suede, this somewhat Bowler-ish shaped 'Marlie' Tote from Anya Hindmarch's 'Day Bags' Collection retails for £510.64 via Net-a-Porter. Also available in Black. |
