Stone Arch Bridge In the Catskills Of Sullivan County
2008-04-11 04:33:00 Early Spring Walk near the Callicoon Creek in Kenoza lake, NY Today spring was in full bloom, it topped out at 60+ degrees and it was a clear sunny day. We decided to take a short jaunt down to the Historic Stone Arch Bridge located in Kenoza lake, N.Y , not far from where we live. This Historic Bridge crosses over the Callicoon Creek and was constructed by German and Swiss Stonemasons sometime in the early 1880's, it is considered to be one of Sullivan County's most famous structures on the National Register of Historic Places. One of the few hex murders on record was committed here in Sullivan County on the bridge in 1882 . As the story goes, a hex was placed on Adam Heidt which had caused him suffering and pain through most of his life, to end his agony and suffering, A Man Named Joseph decided to murder George Markert, the man that was claimed to have put the curse on Adam. It was a proposal for the architecural design of a 1.7km and 205m bridge in Dubai by FXFOWLE INTERNATIONAL. It was selected by the country’s Roads & Transport Authority in a major international design competition. World's tallest arch bridge being built in Dubai next month
2008-02-12 10:52:00 Dubai plans to build the world's longest arch bridge at a cost of 3 billion dirhams ($816.9 million), the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) said on Tuesday (29/Jan/2008).The RTA said it would take four years to construct the mega-bridge, which will measure 1,600 metres with an arch 205 metres high and 667 metres long. Once complete the bridge will overtake the Lupu Bridge in Shanghai as the longest in the world. The Lupu measures 3,900 metres with an arch span of 550 metres. The span is the most common way to rank arch bridges, so if one bridge has a longer span than another it does not mean the bridge is longer from shore to shore or anchorage to anchorage.The bridge connects the Bur Dubai and Deira areas of the city and will be the sixth creek crossing.
