For those of us who cannot quite justify splashing out the best part of $1600 on a keyboard, Art Lebedev?s seemingly more compact Optimus Popularis OLED keyboard, which is already in development, could (and we say ?could? advisably) be a somewhat more pocket-friendly alternative to Art Lebedev?s somewhat excessively priced ...

Art Lebedev ships first Maximus OLED keyboards
2008-02-25 06:17:00
Art Lebedev Studio today announced that it had at last begun shipping the Optimus Maximus. The anticipated keyboard builds OLED displays into the keys that can change depending on the context; Photoshop can replace normal letter keys with editing icons, for example. Also unique to the Maximus are ten keys designed just the Optimus' features and the ability to create custom profiles that can in turn be traded through removable SD cards. The controlling Mac OS X and Windows software, Optimus Configurator, also ships today.

Art Lebedev Optimus Maximus OLED Keyboard Now Shipping Pre-Ordered Units
2008-02-22 08:56:00
Following a series of highly publicised delays and having sustained a level of hype that even the likes of Apple must surly be envious of, Art Lebedev’s Optimus Maximus – which we first reported on as far back in early November ’06 – has finally begun shipping to customers who pre-ordered the OLED keyed device according to latest reports. For those unfamiliar with Art Lebedev’s Optimus Maximus the keyboard features keys consisting of individual OLED displays which are capable of adapting to display functions related to software (such as Photoshop) courtesy of the Configurator software – which, incidentally, is also now available for download - and can be purchased for anything from $462 to $1560 depending on how many active OLED keys are included with passive, non-OLED keys on the cheaper models, which are due to begin shipping next month, being replaceable with active OLED keys as and when you can afford them. It’s been an extremely rocky development path for the Opt...
Art Lebedev Teleport 2.0 Records Telephone Calls via USB To Your PC
2008-02-14 21:46:00
If you ever have need to keep a log of all incoming telephone calls, such as numbers called, numbers dialled on what dates and what times, the simple, albeit somewhat low-tech solution would be to simply ask for itemised billing (if you?re not getting that already) - but if you would also like the option of recording all incoming and outgoing calls this USB based Teleport 2.0 from Art Lebedev could fit the bill nicely.

Let's get this straight: Lebedev by no means only does the Optimus Maximus, and his studio is one of the most prolific design firms in Russia. But Art and his crew were at CES for one reason, and one reason alone -- not that we have a problem with that. Don't forget to check out our Optimus Maximus video. From HERE

Art Lebedev kills us with Optimus Tactus keyboard concept
2007-12-28 17:13:00
Filed under: Displays, Peripherals digg_url = 'http://digg.com/hardware/Art_L-ebedev_kills_us_with_Optimus_Ta-ctus_keyboard_concept'; Yeah, you thought the Optimus Maximus was the holy grail of keyboarding -- then you saw the Optimus Tactus, a giant touch sensor display tablet keyboard that could do all the sorts of crazy stuff the Maximus can't even touch, like playing movies and being a gigantic color swatch. That is, if it weren't a concept. (Then again, the Maximus started out as a concept as well just a couple of years back, so who knows.) The only thing we don't get: the name. Tactus? Touch-sensitive doesn't exactly shout tactility to us, but since it's all just theoretical at this point, maybe by the time keyboards like this exist we'll all be typing on shape-shifting tactile membranes overlaid on touchscreens. That is, if Apple's patents haven't already blocked everyone else off from going there.Gallery: Optimus Tactus Read | Permalink | Email this ...
Art Lebedev lets loose ?Dosugus? cushion
2007-12-19 22:45:00
Filed under: Misc. Gadgets, Household Art Lebedev may be best known round these parts for its OLED fixation and the long, drawn out means in which it applies it to an actual product, but the firm also regularly churns out a number of decidedly more low-tech but equally geeky items -- a range that it's further expanded today. That comes in the form of the "Dosugus" cushion, which should be a familiar sight to anyone of a certain age and would likely warm the cold, nerdy heart of anyone that receives it gift. At under $30, it also costs about the price of a couple of keys on the Optimus Maximus keyboard and, what's more, it's actually available the day it's announced.  Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments
Art Lebedev Dosugus Cushion ? The DOS Inspired Cushion for the Unashamedly
2007-12-18 20:15:00
It?s been a while since we?ve featured a cushion here at TFTS but we simply could not pass up on posting about this unequivocally geeky Dosugus Cushion designed by Vasily Dubovoy from none other than Art Lebedev which comes with what appears to be a DOS directory listing printed on its fabric which, if you read the directories listed actually offers a few somewhat tongue in cheek surprises.
Art Lebedev?s Matryoshkus Experiment With Design
2007-11-14 20:20:00
Called Matryoshkus, these linden-wood Russian nesting dolls remind us of the relationship between all the little bits that make up our digital age: byte, kilobyte, megabyte, gigabyte and terabyte figures all nestle into one another, with the indivisible bit in the middle.
PULTIUS E ART LEBEDEV STUDIO
2007-10-07 16:01:00
E, o gaúcho olha e diz: Mas, bahhhhhhh!

Finger Folder, a USB drive from Art Lebedev
2007-06-24 08:28:00
One more USB flash drive! Although it’s still in conceptual stage, Art Lebedev Studios has unveiled this newest drive that that makes a literal representation of the device's purpose as a file holder. It includes an exposed, direct USB connection and leaves a large flat surface on either side that can be labeled much as with actual folders. It’s still just the designer’s blueprint…..and will take its time to hit the production level. No news on the storage space nor availability and pricing.via luxurylaunches
