For 2009, the celebration takes a leap by going international under the name Philippine International Arts Festival(PIAF).It will feature the talents and performances of the many artists and arts groups in the seven arts on whose trainings, competitions, and creative expressions it has invested the past year or so. Electronic Arts va a despedir a 1.000 empleados
2008-12-22 10:32:00 Electronic Arts ha dado a conocer que en los próximos meses va a despedir a aproximadamente 1.000 empleados y va a cerrar o fusionar 9 estudios, en un plan que se alargará hasta el 31 de marzo del 2009 y con el que reducirá su plantilla en un 10%. Aunque en octubre anunció que iba a acometer un importante recorte de personal, éste va a ser finalmente mayor de lo esperado debido a las pobres ventas que están experimentando algunas de sus videojuegos y franquicias claves, como es el caso de Mirror's Edge, Rock Band 2 y Need For Speed Undercover. Sólo estos 3 títulos han generado unas ganancias inferiores en 70 millones a lo previsto. La consecuencia ha sido clara: visto cómo está el panorama, y ante el menor consumo de las familias, el año que viene habrá menos lanzamientos y, por tanto, necesitarán a un número inferior de programadores y diseñadores. Con las nuevas medidas, los gestores de EA creen que podrán ahorrarse 120 millones de dólares anuales.
