Just one month after the white shirts, here comes an artsy set of t-shirts inspired by not less but the glamorous Whitney Museum's Biennial and its artists. The collection features a series of prolific artists design. ... [Original Post on MyItThings.com]

Paul & Joe Artsy Lace Up Open Toe Bootie
2008-04-19 00:51:00
Paul & Joe Artsy Lace Up Open Toe Bootie The description says "We feel so Carine-Roitfeld-at-Paris-Fashio-n-Week in these" and funnily enough, this is what drew me to these Paul & Joe open-toe booties in the first place. I've not been big into the open-toe bootie scene, but I came across this blog post yesterday on the French Voguettes (who champion the look big time) and found myself gazing wistfully at their shoes, longing for a pair of my very own. Nothing like a bit of style inspiration from the most chic women in the world to get you to change your tune! These are $740 and you can find them at shopbop.com.

Jarrski&Hutch is a Mix of Statements
2007-08-20 15:03:00
Jarrski&Hutch is brainchild of Professional "Dreamer & Realizer", Jarr Geerligs, which was started as medium to express his opinions toward hegemony of worldwide commercial brands and medias. The current collection of Jarrski&Hutch is a mix of statements, logo of some projects he is involved in (with his son, Marin) and words written in original fonts he created.Besides promoting its clothing line (including some button badges), Jarrski&Hutch also busy with some t-shirt concepts that involve the wearer of the shirt somehow. One tee shirt named Human Ink Cartridge is an example of that direction; indeed, I can't wait to see some more in the future. The Spreadshirt connectionWhile Jarr concentrates on creating next T-shirt designs, Jarrski&Hutch's back end order are completely supported by Spreadshirt -- you might heard about Spreadshirt partner shop or Spreadshop -- thus, I believe tees and printing quality are reliable (read my review on 2smartmonkeys tee). Rosa Loves T-shirts Born with Stories
2007-08-12 07:34:00
One thing that makes small clothing label outperforms the ?big guys? is that their ability to make things more personal as well as spread their idealistic thoughts. And this is also what you can expect from new indie label called Rosa Loves which has only eight fresh tee designs at the moment.Despite the little number of collection, Rosa Loves actually offers more than nicely designed arty tee to buy. Each item is attached with inspirational story as encouragement to get us involved in helping community around us. Beyond that, profit made from sales will go directly to individuals or community in need with no T-shirt will be printed after goal (of helping those in need) has been met; make them part of limited edition collection.Maybe these few sentences would better explain vision of Rosa Loves which was established by duo Mike Fretto and Chris Lewis:"Rosa Loves is less about charity and more about awareness, awareness that we are all apart of something greater and are therefore jo...
Boynq offers up a myriad of artsy speakers, peripherals
2007-08-11 23:42:00
It's been a tick since we've seen any randomness from Boynq's labs, but it looks like the firm has worked up quite a number of design-centric speaker stations, iPod sound systems, and superfluous USB-related gizmos of late. Among the standouts are the iCube II (pictured), which sports ten-watts of amplification, an iPod docking port, line-in, dedicated treble / bass controls, and a rather sexy look, too. Additionally, the tooth-shaped Sabre operates much like the aforementioned device but touts twice the wattage and a video output, and the USB-powered Alibi webcam looks an awful lot like a robotic pet of some sort. Do yourself a favor and check out a few more photos of Boynq's zany lineup after the jump.Continue reading Boynq offers up a myriad of artsy speakers, peripherals(Via Engadget.)

Tee Juice, Competition for Fabric Markers Artists
2007-08-10 03:45:00
If you recall, it was fabric/T-shirt markers used to personalize our tees by writing, drawing or painting tees directly onto blank T-shirt we have. Nowadays, the raise of onsite/on-demand T-shirt printing services -- like Spreadshirt, Shirtcity or Comboutique for instance -- may have successfully changed the way most of us getting our personalized T-shirts.This kind of services, in my opinion, offer better and wider solutions; within just finger clicks, we can get our own customized tee shirt (or other clothes) designs we want. The latest trend, there are even people (usually illustrator) who sell or lend their artworks for us to use.So what happen with fabric markers? Do people really care about it? I doubt it, until I came over this site called Tee Juice Artist which holds a T-shirt design competition for fabric markers artists and anyone who want to participate. The ongoing competition itself offer not-so-bad prizes: $100 each week and $1000 per quarter.Although the contest run t...
Pretty Hammer Explores Illustrated Artwork Tees
2007-08-08 14:37:00
Sacramento, CA-based Pretty Hammer, is clothing (mainly T-shirt) label created by duo Sage Smith and Jeffrey Butterworth. The small collection based on hand drawn, illustrated artworks carefully picked before put into production. You can expect some imaginary art with living things-theme (like Blowin' in the Wind and Space Panda) printed on Pretty Hammer's tees for current edition. Although there's no women T-shirts at them moment, small (S) size ones usually work well with girl customers -- of course, you can always return unfit tee if you want (don't forget to read the guidelines)Beyond selling tee shirts and addressing its creative itch, Pretty Hammer very serious about contributing for good causes. According to Jeffrey, Pretty hammer is now preparing an item which 100% of the proceeds will go to the Save Darfur foundation as well as other charitable organizations -- that sounds pretty, isn't? WEME Promotes Asian Culture with T-shirts
2007-08-07 02:28:00
The small number of Asia-based based online shops in the market selling their own tee brand often makes me think that Asian-born ones get its fair uniqueness once it's established.Besides, GMTEE and Hyperstitious we took a look last time, WEME is another new tee brand promotes East Asian culture (especially China and Hong Kong) through its fresh and modern looks of collection. Although I can't see similar patterns from tee to another under its catalog -- except Asian-theme and side-hand printed logo -- WEME using sewing techniques to give each tee its own richness; like sewing line effect, pattern wrap over tee, different printing technique from glossy, shinny to rubber print. If you're ready to order, each WEME's environmental friendly tee shirt sold for HKD 250 or equal to USD 32; and your payment can be made through Paypal (also accepting major credit card) [visit WEME]----------------------------source & image: www.wemecreative.comcontinue reading: Thanking American Pig Br...
Fat Rabbit Farm and Rabbits of the Caribbean
2007-08-01 03:39:00
Don't call yourself rabbit lovers if you never heard this site called Fat Rabbit Farm (FRF). It's an online store selling funny tees based on adorable characters of cute rabbit, Babee, and her three friends: Bleu, Dust Bunnies and Huey. FRF's concept is to build story based on those four characters that Jason Ponggasam, its founder, has made in the past. The latest the from FRF for example, taking a parody of ?Pirates of the Caribbean" and turning it into the adventure story of Babee called "Rabbits of the Caribbean" which then printed on a brown color tee and sold for $22 (see picture below).Although FRF cartoon style isn't really my favorite -- and I've no rabbit in my house, I like Jason's idea of getting main characters at first and creates story line on every new tee; it's definitely collectible and I believe, exciting for Babee's fans out there [visit Fat Rabbit Farm]----------------------------source & image: fatrabbitfarm.comcontinue reading:Wanted, Awesome Name.../Poe...
Wanted, Awesome Name for New T-shirt
2007-07-31 02:42:00
Australian-tee vendors, People Like Us Collective (or PLUC in short), has just released its freshest tee from a collaboration with artist JP33; but there's only one small problem -- the tee is yet to be named! Hey, who says giving T-shirt a name is easier than design it?Fortunately, this small problem now become our luck; for the first time PLUC is throwing the creative doors right open and inviting suggestions. Everyone is invited to come up with the awesomenest name possible for this little gem. You can enter your submission to contact@peoplelikeuscollective.-com before August 3rd; one submitted-name will be picked and the winner will get this artsy tee for free. The oh-so limited edition T-shirtsPeople Like Us Collective firstly appear on my radar last year, it has nice selection of tee shirts designed by new, young artists from around the world -- no wander if the collection is filled with various styles of concept and art. Poetic, Artistic T-shirts from 302designs
2007-07-30 04:17:00
At first, I was thinking that 302designs takes T-shirt presence a little bit too seriously; not only because it writes too much about its brand values, every 302 T-shirts also named with positive attitudes (such as Independence, Passion, Fearless, etc) and even described with short, inspirational poet. But then, I can't blame 302 from doing this. While some tee designers creates T-shirt to make some jokes, to offend others or simply to express themselves; 302 takes unique approach by creating the ones that empower individuals to express their internal strength and solidify the belief they have in themselves (as it says to me on email).More features is betterApart from unique approach in selling its tees, 302 has some more cool features to offer. To reward loyal customer for example, it has so called 302points which we can redeem for free tee or chance to collaborate with 302 team. There are also T-shirt design contest and career opportunities open for those who are looking to contri...

2x4 Offers Two T-shirt Designs by Four Artists
2007-07-22 05:47:00
Noah Butkus' Painter Man is one selected T-shirts printed in by small boutique called 2x4. The fitted slim, grey color T-shirts is currently sold in very limited basis (only 200 pieces across all size) together with other 7 T-shirts from 4 artists -- including Noah himself. The Australian T-shirt label, a brain child of Damien Aistrope, is example of modern boutique that chose to grow its business together with artists and designers it collaborate with. A label like 2x4 always gives me clue that in the future, there will be no more "T-shirt with some pictures" but "a printed artwork made by someone with heart". No wonder, if these days we see many of T-shirt design competition which not only offer prize and shared-profit, but also healthy popularity for new artists and designers.Back to 2x4, it offers two designs by four artists with eight tee shirts per release; and that's the name came from (because 2x4=8). Beside Noah Butkus, two other names -- Jeff Canham and Emil Kozak -- are ...
Err-or is Hub of (T-shirt) Design
2007-07-18 03:00:00
ErrorDesign, or Err-or, has just released its T-shirt design award and selected Nebula Sunset and Azuragala as Winners for this period (I'm not sure though, why I can't find these winning design on the store). Additionally, it also launched some tees from various brands such as Klear, AMP, Reddust -- just to name a few -- to add more items to the current T-shirt collection.Err-or, Hub of DesignErr-or is a one-stop T-shirt shopping site with highly selected underground brand under its catalog. The name "Err-or" itself came from generic Thai word meaning "to join" or "to agree with" -- with this philosophy, Err-or has been quite successfully attracting talented artists and designers to collaborate with; this include from promoting their artworks through T-shirt Design Award and Artists page to selling their designs via online store.Having said that, Err-or collection is definitely your best match if you feel like exploring cutting-edge style you hard to find anywhere. The Tee Party isn't a T-shirt Event
2007-07-07 22:24:00
The Tee Party isn't a name for an event involving T-shirts, instead it's a brand new T-shirt brand launched in late 2006. The new brand runs a partnership with Spreadshirt to take care back-end printing and order processing -- while itself, working on creating attractive (and some funny) graphic designs you'd love to see. This way (partnering with Spreadshirt) is definitely make every design possibly printed on many type of T-shirts especially if it smart enough to take advantage of Spreadshirt large inventory -- Similar method already been used by 2smartmonkeys, if you recall. And talking about the tees, The Tee Party collection mostly fueled by chic designs, probably due to several fresh ideas it gets for T-shirts such as Recycled and (Love is) For the Birds although Doin' the Robot isn't exactly a new one for me (but still, it's nicely executed). By the way, forty two designs ready to sell is not really bad achievement for a new tee shirt company, isn't? [visit The Tee Party...
Scenery T-shirts Designed to Make a Statement
2007-07-06 12:11:00
SceneryApparel (or Scenery in short) was started as graphic design class project in 2006 before turned into actual clothing line months later. As it says on its website; Scenery artworks is influenced by our culture which then give Scenery folks resources to make a social as well as a fashion statement. With eleven originally-designed T-shirts under the brand, Scenery seems born to impress graphic art fans; especially when every designs shows great details and nice color blend with 100% cotton, fitted American Apparel T-shirts -- where those designs are printed.Besides trying hard to influence the world with its statement, Scenery also works with organizations that benefits people such as Hike for Discovery and Leukemia & Lymphoma Society?s (LLS) -- these folks are definitely doing the right things [visit SceneryApparel]Don't forget to check the latest piece from Scenery called Camera----------------------------source & image: sceneryapparel.comcontinue reading: Kindred is all ab...
Kindred is all about the Lumberjack: Paul Hunsicker
2007-07-03 12:12:00
Kindred is a kind T-shirt brand that always plays around with new ideas while keep its philosophy protected. I just knew this (that all Kindred T-shirts actually lead to one word: Lumberjack) from Paul Hunsicker, a man behind Kindred brand. The following are his answers in replying my curious questions:1) I see Kindred design as mix between retro and surreal/fantasy art which not adopted by many T-shirt Designers. How do you define Kindred design style?I wanted to create a visual language by which people could identify our shirts. But, I still wanted to retain the innate flexibility of language to create slang. Our slang pieces are the ones that look different in comparison to the collection but still fit our core imagery or ideas. Like campfires in logging camps, our shirts are a place for tall tales to live on like the legend of Paul Bunyan. For example, our very first collection of shirts used imagery that related to starting a fire or combustion but never showed the fire itsel...
Always Fresh T-shirts from Human Empire
2007-06-27 12:14:00
Hamburg, Germany-based clothing label, Human Empire, has just come up with fresh designs for both T-shirts and sweatshirt. Compelling collection such as Let's Play, Firestarter (pictures below) ABC, Goldtopas are just few example of its latest stuffs -- from total more than 50 clothing items on the online gallery.Human Empire guys are busy indeed, as they target to keep the line fresh by designing 2-3 new shirts every second/third week -- some of them with help from featured artists like Sascha Hommer, Emil Kozak and The Grand People (hint: best time to catch Human Empire's latest collection?)Human Empire for a better worldHuman Empire was founded in 2003 by Jan Kruse, Malte Kaune and Wiebke Schultz in the deep woods of northern Germany with main goal was to build a "new" better world (as Wiebke say this to me on email).Whilst trying to make a better world, Human Empire also sells designs and illustrations to other people and gets some money for it. Amtrea, T-shirts from the Midwest

Amtrea is a clothing company arranged in the Midwest while operating out of South Bend, Indiana and Chicago, Illinois. Pearl Bootik Brings Japanese Anime to Europe
2007-06-18 05:00:00
Pearl Bootik (Pearl) is a French brand that collaborates with Japanese artist; with desire to make known in Europe and especially in France, as its passions for art, communication and product development under project called The PEARL creation.Pearl says this new French-Japanese brand will allow concepts and Nippon artists, illustrators and graphic artists, to have their artwork get printed on Pearl T-shirts and reach the mass in Europe. If you recall NekoWear, you should notice that marriage between French and Japanese-anime art isn't really a new thing.Currently, Pearl already has three lines of sub-brand under its umbrella: SEP/01, a collaboration of Syuriken and Liz ?Animal life?; Syuriken, a concept graphic around ninja, samurai, special force, etc.; and NEO@, a young illustrator from Tokyo who develop his concept of "Sport Music Animal Parody" across to different models of mix t-shirts.The latest T-shirt introduced was LII - Agent Code 15 (picture above) from sub-brand SEP/01...
Tee Tonic is the Non-Stop T-shirt Design Competition
2007-06-16 08:02:00
Just few hours after I featured Allmightys and its philosophy behind its T-shirt design competition, I got an email from Tee Tonic; telling me it deserves a mention too as non-stop T-shirt design competition organizer. Well, here it goes...Tee Tonic, a Scottish company, isn't actually a strange for any savvy T-shirt enthusiast. Having about 6000 members who actively contribute to its community and vibrant competition with daily submission received, Tee Tonic has been lucky enough to have bunch of artsy T-shirts collection designed by some its talented competition winners.Despite the huge number of followers, Tee Tonic is not without competitor as competition-based tee shop; LaFraise and Split the Atom are two other names who actively attract talented artists to participate in their competition as well [visit Tee Tonic]Thanks to Tee Tonic, everyone can enjoy 10% off order (promo code: tshirtisland) until 29th June, 2007. Allmightys T-shirts are Designed by its Competition
2007-06-12 21:39:00
I often think T-shirt design competition is reaching its saturation with big name like Threadless, Camiseteria (Brazil), La Fraise (Europe) -- just to name a few-- hold onto their community as tightly as ever. Even with smaller websites are offering unique concept such as Uneetee and Bountee to persuade artists/designers submitting their works.Bottom line is I often skeptical that new competition will be as hot as those big names -- having a healthy community within and successfully persuade talented artists to submit their artworks. That's initially my thought; until last weekend I got knocked by yet another T-shirt competition organizer, Allmightys. From one of Allmightys' team, Filip, whose day job is architect, trying to answer the often asked question "Why Do Design Competitions?" -- which indirectly also answering my doubtness of yet another T-shirt competition."Competitions go beyond the purpose of just obtaining commissions......New concepts are always tested, new ideas exp...
NekoWear is Manga Inspired T-shirt Brand
2007-06-08 05:26:00
NekoWear claims that it's the first brand coming from manga culture. I don't want to discuss the "first" part but it's obviously a brand totally inspired by mange culture; with a twist of western and world influence ? not forget to mention, NekoWear is French-born brand. There are four lines introduced by Nekowear so far: Nekome, NekoWear, Pin2 (in collaboration with Studio Tanuki), Ben Bao and Japanim (featuring widely-known anime character such as GTO and Naruto). Besides website that looks alive with animated manga icons, Nekowear T-shirt designs looks fun -- especially, as I said, with mix of manga style art and western and world influence. If you look closely inside the Nekome line, each t-shirt represents few world's popular characters from superheroes (Superman, Batman, Spiderman) to real hero (El Che) and even outter space enemy from Star Wars [visit Neko-shop]----------------------------source & image: www.nekowear.comcontinue reading: Bountee's Two Months old,.../ One De...
Bountee's Two Months old, 1000 Designs and Counting
2007-06-04 16:08:00
We already spotted Bountee (beta) launch just about two months ago. In a surface, I saw it as place for people (specifically, artists and designers) to share their designs and at best, sell it to others. So what's so cool about that? Thanks to Steve for emailing me last week and gave more info from the latest of Bountee. As accepted image format, Bountee chooses SVG file format (vector-based) which its graphic-editor can be freely downloaded from Inkscape. Using vector-based file, Steve says, enabled Bountee to maintain image designs' quality. These vector images will then printed using the latest DTG (Direct To Garment) technology which allows inks to penetrate into the fabric. In short, T-shirt's printed-image won't crack or peel off even after washed so many times repeatedly.Design by the people for the people. Bountee is very community-based, allow each member to submit designs and sell them at the end of the day. Already 1000 (and counting!) designs submitted, get commented ...
One Design with Many Versions, Stan Peach?s Tees
2007-05-31 23:30:00
Basically, these T-shirts (above) come from one origin design but Stan Peach brilliantly makes it the variant of it. Actually the idea is pretty nice; it makes the T-shirts somehow cool "collectible" item. Simply said, if you have the red/blue version, don't you wish to have the pixelated one? And for the pink/brown one, maybe, you want to give it to your hubby as a gift so that you two have pair of same-but-different T-shirts.Each T-shirt will cost you £20; it says free delivery but no additional info on shipping details. Also available another two designs: Houndstooth (newest) and Original SP; but again, Stan Peach produces them in several versions such that there are many T-shirts on its small boutique [visit]----------------------------source & image: www.stanpeach.co.ukcontinue reading: Spreadshirt New Marketplace.../ A Conversation with Detour Design.../ T-shirt Subscription Gets.../ Interactive T-shirt Gallery.../

Happy 1st Birthday, Oddica!
2007-05-23 02:22:00
Thanks Andy for reminding on his cotton filter -- I know it's been late for few days, but better late than never to say: Happy Birthday Oddica! What makes Oddica birthday special to me is that because it's remind me of my first week as T-shirt blogger and already exposed with new brand (at that time) as awesome as Oddica. If you read my posting here, I quoted Preshrunk/ Jason Cosper's words as I thought he is a T-shirt expert (where is he now?); I even get Oddica launch info from PR site instead of the Oddica itself! So, how is it going Oddica?Pretty much the same with the first time I saw, except talented artists with their futuristic, illustrative designs have been added regularly to the line up. Oddica's free magazine? Hey that's new. What have not been changed since the day one including the 41 Percent royalty formula, Oddica kindness to say "thanks" to anyone who spread its brand and (unfortunately) there's still no newsletter to subscribe -- okay, that newsletter feature...
