New Wi-Fi APs from Aruba
2008-04-22 12:18:00 Aruba Networks announced a new line of 802.11a/b/g access points that can be upgraded over-the-network to enable 802.11n dual-radio operation. The new access points allow enterprises, schools, universities, hospitals, and other institutions to prepare today for a future migration to 802.11n without incurring the cost of an immediate upgrade. The new AP-124ABG and AP-125ABG Access Points can be used for wireless access, intrusion-detection monitoring, secure enterprise mesh or remote access point applications. The mode of operation is determined by network-downloadable software, which eliminates the expense of physically accessing the devices to re-purpose or update them. Full 802.11n performance is delivered using existing 802.3af Power-over-Ethernet (PoE), precluding the need for an expensive PoE upgrade."The exact timing of the migration to 802.11n varies by user based on their application requirements, the availability of 802.11n clients, and budget," said Michael King, Research D...

New WIPS from Aruba
2008-04-22 11:59:00 Aruba Networks, a global leader in user-centric networks and secure mobility solutions, today announced a new version of its RFprotect Wireless Intrusion Prevention System (WIPS) software that allows users to define their own attack-detection signatures and defend against previously unknown, undisclosed, or unpatched vulnerabilities (zero-day attacks). These user-defined signatures can be implemented almost immediately, enhancing security and giving users more control over their threat vulnerability. All other wireless intrusion prevention systems require the supplying vendor to provide updates, leaving customers vulnerable in the meantime when a new attack is developed. In addition, Aruba customers will be able to make their user-defined signatures available to others by contributing them to the Wireless Vulnerabilities and Exploits (WVE) database at www.wve.org, a community vulnerabilities database. Aruba has long been an active participant in the WVE Project."Security is an unendi...

iPhone found me in Aruba
2008-03-31 22:30:00 Last week, I made a daring and sacrificing expedition to the desolate island of Aruba, where I battled horrifying beaches, a strong sun, overly-stuffing food, and fresh fruit smoothies. Yeah, it was hell. One night, we decided to brave the barren roads and take a rental car tour of the isle. We wound up lost, trapped in some dark remote desert area surrounded by cacti, abandoned buildings, and incredibly lazy wild dogs who did little more than stare at us in bewilderment. After 45 minutes of going in circles, we were losing hope, and on the verge of making camp and eating my brother for nourishment. Worried for his life, The Bro whipped out his iPhone and discovered something amazing: he was able to use the Google Maps app to actually locate our position on the island, streets and all. He turned on Data Roaming, connected to the island's Setar cell network, and used the Find Me button to accurately triangulate where we were relative to our hotel. Within ten minutes we were back ...

Existe ainda u...

At the age of 7 my family returned to Aruba to try to make it on our own. We moved around a lot, and ever since I was 15 I have had a part-time job. Even though we had difficult times, I always have had what I needed: the love and support of my family. What do you want the judges to know about you?I want the judges to know that I come from an island where Norms and Values are the keys in our life. I consider myself a determined, well-organized, very positive person with a sense of flexibility who is always looking for new challenges. One of the things I like about myself is that I don't have a problem adapting in new environments.

Aruba files countersuit against Motorola
2007-10-24 11:47:00 Slashdot It!Aruba Networks has filed a lawsuit against two Motorola subsidiaries. The suit is in response to patent-infringement claims issued in August by Symbol and Wireless Valley Communications over four patents on wireless local-area network architecture.Subsidiaries Symbol and Wireless Valley Communications are seeking to stop Aruba from distributing much of its equipment in the U.S. Aruba is seeking to invalidate their claims.Aruba's countersuit alleges that Symbol knew about Aruba's technologies more than four years ago, yet has not sued over the patents until now."Recognizing the superiority of Aruba's technologies, Symbol tried to get access to them by buying Aruba," the company said in a filing on Wednesday. "Throughout the first half of 2003, in the course of discussions initiated by Symbol, Aruba gave Symbol essentially unfettered access to Aruba's products--the way they were designed, built, tested and made--and to Aruba's business and marketing strategies and plan...

Baseball in the Netherlands
2007-10-12 13:45:00 Baseball in the Netherlands Alright, we all know the Netherlands consists of Holland, but the real baseball hotspots of interest in regards to the Netherlands consists of Aruba and the Netherlands Antilles (in the Caribbean) - a string of islands that most notably contains Curacao. The Netherlands Antilles are two island groups in the Caribbean Sea: Curacao and Bonaire located off the coast of Venezuela, and St. Maarten, Saba, and St. Eustatius, which lie east of the U.S. Virgin Islands. Appoximately 220,000 people call the Antilles home, 170,000 of them in Curacao. Their government is Parliamentary (full autonomy in internal affairs granted in 1954; Holland responsible for defense and foreign affairs). In regards to baseball, the Netherlands are most notable for: producing Andruw Jones and Hensley “Bam Bam” Muelens (from Curacao); birthplace of Bert “be home” Blyleven (Holland). In Holland, baseball has a strong niche following in Amsterdam, Haarlem, R...

Aruba Day 7
2007-09-23 21:46:00 Today we took the 15 minutes boat ride to Renaissance Island. It's a private beach/island exclusive to guests of Renaissance Aruba Resort. The boat ride went well... Untill...Yes, Frank and another woman guest, gamely took turns to be at the helm. Scary but fun. I was soaked! The private island is complete with amenities. Just like you are still in the hotel, sans the hotel room of course. It's about 5:00 p.m. here in Aruba as I'm writing this post. I'm just dead tired...What's for dinner? I /we don't know yet. I'm really loving this life. It's really nice not having to worry what to prepare for the next meal. I must say, this is one of the most relaxing vacations we've ever had. There's no itinerary, we go as we want, no tour times to follow, we get up and retire for the night when we want. Ahhh... this is the good life. Wish it's like this everyday. Now, I say to myself - keep dreaming... This is it for today...in My World.

We've been eating like there's no tomorrow the past few days, so we thought of going light today. This is how the homes of Indian settlers in Aruba looked like in the old days. Wrecked ship - still intact in the middle of the ocean Aruba is the place to be if you're longing for that nice blue sky everyday. Today was no exception. The sun shone brightly and a bit humid, but the strong ocean breeze compensated the heat. Dutch Colonial style buildings and homes painted in pastel colors abound...Simply mood lifting ... Aruba Day 2
2007-09-18 23:11:00 Just resting right now in our temporary abode while F is busy in the gym. Tonight will most likely be Casino night. Hope I'll get lucky because I just started...Shopping... And window shopping... and definitely going back for some stuff from these...The above stores are just in the mall here in the hotel and some of them are just around the corner. At Hing Nung Supermarket, I discovered these...Who would have thought I'll see them here. Hmmmm. Now, I'm thinking of even buying the above items. They're definitely hard to find in New York even in Filipino stores. In fact, from our dinner last night, our waitress was a fellow Pinoy and according from her, there's a growing community of Filipinos here.I definitely anticipated I was gonna shop. The extra duffle bag I've packed will be put to good use, as we are entitled to 5 luggages- 50 lbs. each. I can just imagine Frank's reaction to this and I'll cross the bridge when I get there... This is it today...in My World.

Aruba Day 1
2007-09-18 06:30:00 We started our day sooo early because we needed to check in at 6:0o a.m. The flying time was about 5 hours, and we landed about 1:00 p.m. The ride to the hotel from the airport was only about 20 minutes.Currently, we are billeted here at the Renaissance Aruba Resort & Casino (a property operated by Marriott). AAA has rated this hotel as 4 diamond so I think we will be comfortable in this place while we're away from home.At the hotel's atrium- this is the boat that takes Renaissance's guests to a private island and beach to spend a day there.Inside our room at the Marina Tower of the hotelThe island view from our balcony in the roomNow, I got a big secret I discovered while walking around. Shopping will be pure bliss. They have all my fave brands and nothing can be better than getting them tax free. Ssssh... Frank doesn't know this secret yet. Aruba in my dreams
2007-08-09 00:57:00 Dreaming about it, no more. We are booked and we will hie off to Aruba for 1 week in September. It was a choice between Barbados and Aruba. Aruba was the final choice because of the allure of the casinos and the beaches. You have both worlds. Don't get me wrong, gambling is not a must. It will just be nice again to play the slot machines because, the last time I was in a casino was when we visited Las Vegas in 2001, a few days after the terrorist attack here in New York.Oh, I think it would be nice to recall the destinations I've visited so far:1. Philippines (almost all tourists destinations and then some). I still vividly remember the visit to Boracay when it wasn't polluted yet. Aruba wedding photography!
2007-06-10 15:58:00 Just got back from a fantastic weekend wedding in Aruba, where Jen and Scott decided to have a small, intimate wedding with a best friend and close family at the Aruba Marriott. A huge highlight: once they were married, they cruised out into the ocean in their wedding attire and went tubing behind a ski boat. I hung out on the back of of the boat with their kids taking pictures the whole time, and wound up with some awesome shots. Everyone on the other boats in the harbor was super psyched to see them out there, and all the folks in the beach bars were hooting and hollering as we jetted past. Their littlest girl, age 6, freaked out and started crying when the boat driver whipped into a curve and the tube overturned — she thought her mom was going to drown because her wedding dress was so heavy! But once she heard her mom’s uncontrollable laughter, she started laughing too. Anyway, an awesome wedding. Jen, Scott — here’s to you! A big congrats. Here are just...

1999-11-30 01:00:00 The thinking behind timeshares was created in Europe during 1960.
