The Brazilian Blowout Hoax, Part 3: OSHA Botches Study, Media Blames Compa
2011-11-22 23:42:00
Contrary to recent media reports, the Brazilian Blowout hair treatment is safe for use. You’d never know it, though, because the mainstream media has been perpetuating one myth after another about Brazilian Blowout while ignoring the facts. Last time, I wrote about a hatchet job made to appear as a legitimate study ...

Sexual Abuse Priests. What?! The Pope Never Knew?
2010-03-28 01:37:00
Some international commentators opine that there is a net of terrible revelation closing in on Pope Benedict XVI. One revelation after another indicates that he has for many years known about the endemic sexual abuses, both of children and adults, happening within the Roman Catholic Church. And that he has, all along, failed with any probity to act. To the contrary, he has called, along, for secrecy. (I shall shortly turn to the mounting allegations of massive cover up of sexual abuse by the Boy Scout's of America) If any should think that the Vatican has not been for centuries, and is to this day, a heavy hitter in the murky world of realpolitik, they have not paused to read even the standard historical accounts.

Ecuador v. Chevron And The Associated Press' Bad Coverage
2008-12-23 05:10:00
I saw the Associated Press' report on the Ecuador / Chevron case and was shocked at the lack of mention of Ecuador's responsibility to it's poorest people. Here' I take on Ecuador for its poor economic development record.

The Associated Press takes on the Internet
2008-07-09 20:03:00
Bloggers occasionally find themselves in hot water for stealing other people?s content. The hot topic at the moment with regards to blogs is the way the Associated Press has been dealing with people using its content. What exactly is ?fair use?? The Associated Press (AP) Versus The Blogosphere Proves Bloggers Are Winnin
2008-06-18 00:18:00
A Desparate Associated Press (AP) Seeks To Charge Bloggers For Quoting Portions Of Their MOSTLY Worthless And Biased (So-Called) “Articles’ INTERESTING. The Associated Press seems to have no problem at all with grabbing my PUBLICLY syndicated news feed and offering my articles to various newspapers around the country, which they have done on more than one occasion. The newspapers publish my article in their “rags”, attributing the “Op-Ed” to “a blogger who goes by The Gun Toting Liberalâ„¢, the newspaper who publishes the “Op-Ed” benefits by selling ads, but I don’t see a dime of their revenues. And, hey, I’m A-OKAY with the arrangement. But, not the AP, apparently. NOPE — the AP has taken it upon themselves to feel “entitled” to grab MY articles and offer them to newspapers nationwide — i.e., they subscribe to the AP, they can pick, choose and print anything the AP offers them, including A...
Clinton Advisor: Clinton to End Campaign on Friday. Didn?t We Hear This Be
2008-06-05 04:32:00
Alright, so, AGAIN, the media (this time the New York Times, instead of the Associated Press) is reporting that a Clinton aide, specifically Howard Wolfson, a chief strategist, told them that she would be suspending her campaign.  Wolfson told the Times that she will announce on Friday that she is done and will endorse Obama. This broke earlier today while I was at work, so my apologies for having it up late. McCain Takes 3 Months and a Hitler Reference to Reject Hagee Endorsement
2008-05-23 07:28:00
Photo by Flickr 3 months and a Hitler comment later, John McCain has finally rejected the endorsement of Pastor John Hagee. On Thursday, McCain rejected the endorsements of two influential pastors, John Hagee and Rod Parsley for offensive comments that they have made. McCain accepted the endorsement of Hagee in late February, nearly four months ago, and received slight pressure from the press about the endorsement. Hagee?s and McCain never received major attention by the press in the way that Obama and Jeremiah Wright did. Over the past week McCain was no longer able to brush the issue aside when comments Hagee made about Hitler surfaced. The Huffington Post published audio of Hagee saying that Hitler hastened God?s will to bring the Jewish people to the promise land in Israel. Hagee had previously sparked controversy for McCain in which he said that the Catholic church was ?the great whore? and that New Orleans was suffering God?s wrath for their wicke...

Obama is 75 Delegates Away from Nomination, Clinton Suggests Convention Fig
2008-05-22 05:54:00
After Tuesday?s contests in Oregon and Kentucky, Barack Obama is now within 75 delegates of clinching the Democratic nomination. On Wednesday, Senator Clinton told the Associated Press that she was willing to take her fight to the Democratic National Convention to get Michigan and Florida delegates seated. When Senator Clinton was asked if she would support the two states if they appealed an unfavorable ruling by the committee?s decision on the convention floor she replied, ?Yes I will. I will, because I feel very strongly about this.? ?I will consult with Floridians and the voters in Michigan because it's really their voices that are being ignored and their votes that are being discounted, and I'll support whatever the elected officials and the voters in those two states want to do.? Senator Obama?s campaign has been reaching out to Michigan and Florida and his campaign has said that they are willing to compromise with the Clinton campaign on how to seat those delegate...

South Carolina Democrats Send a Strong Message to Clintons
2008-01-27 01:56:00
Barack Obama won the South Carolina Democratic primary handily over Senator Clinton on Saturday. All of the major news outlets projected Obama the winner of the state only minutes after the polls closed in the state because the loss was so embarrassing for Clinton. A ?substantial margin? according to MSNBC and the Associated Press called it a ?routing?. Fox News was discussing whether or not Clinton would even be the second place finisher there. John Edwards and Clinton are now competing for the second spot in South Carolina. The Democratic voters in South Carolina sent a message to Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton and that was to STOP the kind of campaign you are running. The voters showed that they are tired of Bill Clinton?s lies and stretching of the truth to attack Obama. The voters in exit polls showed they were sick of the attacks in this campaign over the past week and those voters overwhelmingly supported Senator Obama. Obama received in the neighborhood of 80 percen...
If the Associated Press Wrote Product Warnings
2008-01-22 05:58:00
Recently I came across a very disturbing news item on Yahoo. Here is a quote:"More and more foods bear a mishmash of warnings that they might accidentally contain ingredients that could seriously sicken people with food allergies. Yet there are signs that the labels are creating confusion among families that should heed them ? even as new testing shows there is a real, if probably small, chance that foods with even the most vaguely worded warnings truly pose a risk." - Food Label Warnings Seen as Confusing, Yahoo! (AP) NewsThank goodness we have the Associated Press to point out the dangers of unclear writing, eh? I mean, I think that's what they are pointing out. I read that paragraph six times and I'm still not entirely sure. Every time I think I've got a choke-hold on one of those sentences, it twitches and lurches in some wholly unexpected direction. Now if it was me, I'd write something like:You know those labels that you see all over food packages these days that war...

A.P. Calls Clinton Winner in New Hampshire
2008-01-09 04:34:00
The Associated Press has just announced that Hillary Clinton has won the Democratic primary in New Hampshire based on their projections. CNN and other sources have yet to make a call because college towns have yet to count their votes and that their are too many other votes yet to be counted throughout the state.Barack Obama trails by 6,000 votes in the state and that pattern has held over 2 and a half hours of incoming numbers. Barack Obama had led in the New Hampshire polls but they were obviously not accurate. Barack Obama will be speaking to his supporters shortly. No word on if it is a concession speech. More updates will follow as the numbers come in.
