Billy Bob Thornton, Virginia Madsen interviewed in Chicago on ?The Astronau
2007-04-13 10:44:00
CHICAGO ? ?I have a lot of nervous energy in my head. I always have to be working on something,? said actor ? and now entrepreneur ? Billy Bob Thornton in a Chicago interview with Adam Fendelman.Despite the mental projection of a guy who?s rough around the edges from earlier film work, Thornton?s unsuspecting lead role as Charles Farmer in ?The Astronaut Farmer? tells a decidedly different story: one about the true tenets of American entrepreneurism and family.Thornton?s taxing road to his dream ? building and launching the first civilian rocket into space ? is engrained with the uncanny ups and downs reminiscent to entrepreneurs and Internet start-ups.Before reveling in all the rewards of his final pursuit, Farmer must first risk all that is sacred.Entrepreneurs are very familiar with the sometimes genius yet sometimes ?hypomanic? compulsion required to trek to the moon ? nearly literally in Farmer?s case ? and they stop at nothing to get there. They may even be willing to risk the...
De la Oaxaca gastronómica
2007-04-12 08:08:00

An American Astronaut
2007-04-05 14:21:00
The problem with this film is that when it comes down to it, its boring.  An American Astronaut loses it's self in the artistic mess the director has created. Beautiful shots and great music do not make up for the fact that the movie goes now where. The film is way to long, and with ridiculous homoerotic sub tones bubbling just below the surface but never surfacing, most viewers will be bored out of their skulls by the end of the film, if they are not already asleep. If you liked an “Six String Samurai” you may enjoy this film, if not its worth a look anyway.

Astronomy in the south of France: the moon with Venus
2007-04-04 13:40:00
I’ve always had a bit of an interest in astronomy but I’m a bit of a warm weather astronomer hence my interest in solar eclipses which are the one astronomical event which is pretty much guaranteed to occur when the temperature is well above freezing. However, one advantage of being in the south of France ...
Astronaut's marathon 'will truly be out of this world'
2007-04-02 09:45:00
Zooming through low-Earth orbit at 17,500 mph, Suni Williams completes the standard marathon distance every 5.4 seconds. But for next month's Boston Marathon, the U.S. Navy commander will run the equivalent distance on a treadmill -- 210 miles (338 kilometers) above Earth in the international space station, and tethered to her track by bungee cords so she does not float away. "She thought it would be cool if she gave it a try," said Williams' sister, Dina Pandya, who will run the race the traditional way with almost 24,000 other runners. "She said, 'I'll call you on Heartbreak Hill.' " Although the world's oldest annual marathon starts at 10 a.m. EDT (1400 GMT) on Earth, Williams might not be able to run at that time because her sleep schedule -- a fairly arbitrary matter in space -- is set for the arrival of a Soyuz mission.

El astronauta graciosete
2007-03-26 20:42:00

An astronaut's pictures...
2007-03-06 15:54:00
This, and the pictures after the link, are supposedly taken by Swedish (oh, yes) astronaut Christer Fuglesang during his time on the space shuttle and the ISS recently. Some of the the pictures i can believe are taken from the altitude of the ISS, but these wonderful shots of the night lit Earth seem to have been taken at a much greater distance from the Earth than the ISS orbit. I may be wrong, I'm far from an astronomer, but the pictures are so awesome I wanted to post them anyway. Follow the links to larger (and heavier) shots of The North Pole | Africa | Asia | Australia | Europe and North America.

Un poco de gastronomia Indonesia
2007-02-27 13:39:12
Duct tape and psychotic astronauts
2007-02-24 07:51:02
Yet another use for duct tape. So the NASA procedural manual states that astronauts who flip their lids in space should be duct taped, and, tranquilized. (Insert Monty Python-esque interlude here: "But, I'm not stuck yet...") I'd like to propose that this procedure be implemented in the regular workplace, and, with out of control celebrities. I mean, why should astronauts be the only ones who get to threaten each other with this simple, yet, inexpensive method of behavior control? Offer the paparazzi $5K for duct taping Britney Spears to her rehab center, or, have it casually sitting on your desk during an employee's performance appraisal. You know, just in case. I've actually had people lose come unglued during evaluations, duct tape would have been nice. OK, so it was my final input to them right before I fired them, but, whatever. Duct tape would have saved me a couple of emergency calls to security. "Stick 'em, Danno." It hasn't made the 101 Uses for Duct Tape li...

NASA astronaut Lisa Nowark arrested
2007-02-13 16:17:06
Today?s Talk can not go without mentioning the big news today here in America.  NASA Astronaut Lisa Nowark was charged with attempted first degree murder today.  When I heard this on the news today, I was just shocked.  This has never happened in the 40 some odd years the space program has happened.  Apparently, Lisa was in a love triangle with astronaut Bill Oefelein. As sad as this story is, it was so funny to hear that Lisa drove all the way from Houston, Texas to the Orlando airport to meet the other woman with adult diapers (Depends).  I mean, this woman was in business!  She wasn?t taking any bathroom breaks to stop her from pepper-spraying Shipman!  What love will make you do!   By the way, Lisa did put her space training to use by wearing adult diapers because astronauts do wear them during the takeoff!  Well, I guess NASA better revamp their physiological test because!  Bookmark to:
Gastronomia molecolare: purchè se ne parli?
2007-02-13 00:40:03
