In the Autoblog Garage: 2009 Pontiac Vibe
2008-04-27 12:49:00
When the original Pontiac Vibe hit dealer showrooms for the 2003 model year, it was a different kind of General Motors vehicle in just about every way. Sure, it wore a Pontiac badge and had that horrible plastic cladding hanging off its sides, but the vehicle’s basic shape was unlike anything else in the ...

Autoblog uncovers production Dodge Challenger R/T and SRT8
2008-01-17 11:51:00
From the article: “We owe much thanks to Autoblog reader Walter, who happened upon a stark naked Dodge Challenger R/T as it was being valet parked and sent us this perfect pic. Not only does it finally reveal the face of the new Challenger, to our knowledge it’s also the first time anyone has seen an R/T model. The SRT8 model is the only one scheduled for the Challenger’s initial production run in MY 2008, which makes this a 2009 Dodge Challenger R/T. ” Hats off to the Autoblog team for spotting the silver Challenger. Don’t forget to check out the link below to see the black rear deck spoiler on the SRT8 model. Dodge Challenger R/T and SRT8 - autoblog.com 2008ChallengerSRT8Snow - jalopnik.com
Autoblog Reviews the Lexus LS 460L
2008-01-10 07:06:00
Right from the start, there was something off about Autoblog’s review of the Lexus LS 460L: It’s tough to pity Lexus LS owners. After all, Executive-Class luxury sedans don’t exactly suck. We wouldn’t blame LS drivers for feeling pangs of over-inconspicuousness whenever they see a Camry, though. Understated luxury is one thing, but when you’re devoting something like two years of the average worker bee’s salary to a frivolity such as a luxury sedan, it’d be nice to have at least some indication to the Serfs that you’re the better man. I can understand that the subtle and understated look of the LS 460L is unappealing to some, sure. But from that point onwards, it became quite clear there was a distinct break between the reviewer’s preferences and what the car was intended for. You wouldn’t, for instance, expect that “hooning” would be anywhere near the priority list when designing a long-wheelbase executive-clas...
In the Autoblog Garage: 2007 Toyota Prius Touring
2008-01-02 00:23:00
Click image for the Autoblog review of the 2007 Toyota Prius TouringThe Toyota Prius is the poster child for an entire subculture of the green movement. Its fuel-stingy nature and negligible emissions have made it an icon. The media is on board with the hero worship, and the public has guzzled the Kool Aid. To many, it is not just any hybrid, it is THE hybrid. It's practically touted as one of the cures to Earth's supposed problems, its bubblicious roof able to prevent the very sky from falling. It's a miracle. It's a fashion statement. It's holier than thou. My position on all the Prius hype? It's beyond ridiculous, and I have always taken it out on the car with snide remarks and a dismissive attitude. Of course, I had never actually driven a Prius before doing any of this this, which is the very definition of asinine. So I had Toyota lend me one for a week. Would my time spent attacking the daily slog with the Prius validate my knee-jerk dislike of the car, or would I be for...

Sydney 2007: Aussie-only 281 HP Mazda3 MPS Extreme - AutoblogSome of you may have read my earlier review on the MAZDASPEED 3. I really loved that little rocket and it is still one of my top choices for my next car. Well check out this article on what is brewing down under at the Sydney Motor Show. The Mazda3 MPS Extreme.. Wow!! 281hp! 313 lbs ft. torque!!! Not only does it have engine tweaks, it also has some wild body enhancements as well. More power can only be better right!! Unfortunately, I don't think this car will be hitting U.S. shores anytime soon.. or ever for that matter.. Hey.. one can dream though!!!
Feathers fly when peacock procreates with car - Autoblog
2007-10-09 02:31:00
You'd never guess that a bird could confuse something as big as a car for one of its sexual partners, but that's exactly what happened recently in England. A male peacock that lives in the grounds of an aristocrat's manor caused thousands of dollars of damage to a guest's Lexus when it attempted to procreate with it.

Autoblog experiences the joy of 9-10 mpg in a 2007 Rolls-Royce Phantom
2007-10-02 01:46:00
AutoblogGreen and Autoblog are like two sides of a coin; sometimes what matters is that we're connected and we try to bring you the full spectrum of automotive news, other times there is no disputing how much we're on opposite sides of an issue. I think Autoblog's review of the 2007 Rolls-Royce Phantom that went up today puts us squarely in that second category. I have not doubt that the ride is every bit as amazing as Alex Nunez makes it sound, but there is simply no way I could enjoy a car that gets, I kid you not, around 9-10 miles per gallon in everyday life (even though the sticker says it gets 13 in the city and 19 on the highway). I'm sitting here wondering if I could enjoy it even for a mile or two; Alex loved it.Alex does have a little bit of fun with the terrible un-green-ness of this Phantom, as you can see in this picture. While the biggest story here is that a blog got to test drive an almost $400,000 car, for AutoblogGreen, the notable detail is that this post mark...
John McElroy on Autoblog: Small cars get big
2007-09-23 02:51:00
The topic of cheap cars has come up on our pages before, and John McElroy has shared his thoughts on the topic over at Autoblog. It looks like John will be contributing over at our sister site on a somewhat regular basis, this is his first posting. McElroy is the host of Autoline Detroit which you may have seen on Speed TV or public television (make sure to watch it tomorrow). On the topic of inexpensive cars, John brings up the Dacia Logan, which is now part of Renault's stable. This car is just about the cheapest set of (four) wheels you can get in Europe, and McElroy highlights the fact that the car is selling rather well. This is causing the other manufacturers to look into offering similar vehicles in their own lineups. The next point brought up is the possibility of even cheaper cars from companies like Tata from India. As McElroy points out, this type of vehicle is unlikely in the U.S. due to the fact that the emissions equipment alone on cars sold here might cost as much a...

Autoblog.com Released a Comprehensive List of Latest June 2007 Car Sales
2007-07-05 09:41:00
Which do you think topped the list? It?s not the Toyota Motor Corporation guys. Guess which one made it to the top? Got any clue? Take a look at the list below. Yes, you?ve seen a fact guys - Saab was the biggest winner last month as they were able to sell a huge 4,361 units of vehicles under their brand name and that is a 27.5% increase as compared to its June 2006?s 3,295 units? sales. Sadly, Jaguar was the biggest loser. They failed to sell more than 1,410 units which is a 37% decrease from their last year?s June sales of 2,160 cars. Only Land Rover with an increase of 4.1% and the Lincoln brand with 25.2% increase are the two brands to rise among the Ford Motor Company?s Premiere Automotive Group. Volvo and Jaguar failed this month. Mercury declined 9.5% compared to its last year?s 16,670 units sold. Another Ford subsidiary Mazda increased from 23,727 units to 25,761 cars sold this June. That is all in all a 4.6% increase. Although they are not selling much these days, they sti...
Spied: Autoblog reader snaps Porsche Panamera in California!
2007-06-24 23:40:00
Just days after an amateur car enthusiast snapped one of the best shots of the BMW M3 Sedan at the 'Ring, an Autoblog reader snapped pics of Porsche's 4-door Panamera testing on American soil. Spotted driving on the 405 freeway in Carson, California, this green Panamera mule doesn't reveal anything new. However, the close-up shots of the side can give us more clues on how the real roofline of the car will be. Herschel Brown was cruising in his BMW 330i when he came upon this mule and quickly managed to snap some detailed shots. Head on over to Autoblog to view more images.[Source: Autoblog]
