iRing 2.0: Free Automator Application to create ringtones for the iPhone
2007-09-09 14:24:00 I had posted a couple of days back on how you could add custom ringtones to your iPhone in iTunes 7.4 using a simple hack thanks to a bug discovered by a reader at Macrumors. Apple immediately released an update iTunes 7.4.1 apparently to fix the bug, however it did not take long for someone to discover a workaround even with iTunes 7.4.1. Apple Gazette has released their first iPhone application called "iRing" which automates this process to help you add custom ringtones to your iPhone.

Access hidden Preview features through Automator
2007-08-15 15:23:00 Most people see Preview as a fairly limited application, and only use it for quickly viewing images. However, it is capable of much more than that, and a couple of months ago I outlined some of Preview's lesser known features on this site.One topic that came up in the comments of that tip was Preview's inability to scale and resize images. I explained a trick involving zooming and using the Mac OS X Screen shot tools, but this is far from ideal.Interestingly, it turns out Preview can resize images, but you can only access this through Automator. In fact, there is a whole load of features that are only accessible this way.If you have Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger, you will find Automator in your Applications folder. It is an application designed to do repetitive and time consuming tasks for you.
