Recognize attitude impacts more than breast cancer awareness
2008-06-08 13:06:00
Its meaningful to highlight June is a special awareness month. Choose to participate in the Breast Awareness Campaign. Many people know someone affected by cancer.  How does your attitude about healing affect your life? Positive thinking goes a long way.• The first sign of breast cancer usually shows up on a woman's mammogram before it can be felt or any other symptoms are present.• Risks for breast cancer include a family history, atypical hyperplasia, delaying pregnancy until after age 30 or never becoming pregnant, early menstruation (before age 12), late menopause (after age 55), current use or use in the last ten years of oral contraceptives, and daily consumption of alcohol.• Early detection of breast cancer, through monthly breast self-exam and particularly yearly mammography after age 40, offers the best chance for survival.• Ninety-six percent of women who find and treat breast cancer early will be cancer-free after fi...
Breast Cancer Awareness
2008-06-07 00:49:00
I have been tagged by Mommy Cielo, Mommy Rosselle and Mommy Charm. Here's what I got from Mr. Wiki on Breast Cancer Signs and Symtoms:The first symptom, or subjective sign, of breast cancer is typically a lump that feels different than the surrounding breast tissue. According to the Merck Manual, greater than 80% of breast cancer cases are discovered as a lump by the woman herself. According to the American Cancer Society (ACS), the first medical sign, or objective indication of breast cancer as detected by a physician, is discovered by mammogram. Lumps found in lymph nodes located in the armpits and/or collarbone[citation needed] can also indicate breast cancer.Indications of breast cancer other than a lump may include changes in breast size or shape, skin dimpling, nipple inversion, or spontaneous single-nipple discharge. Pain is an unreliable tool in determining the presence of breast cancer, but may be indicative of other breast-related health issues such as mastodynia. When brea...

Breast Cancer Awareness: Help Make June Survivor Month!
2008-06-05 09:05:00
Before we go straight to the point, we understand that some of you had read this article on breast cancer before. This is, in fact, the third time that you will be reading it. Nevertheless, we do not mind posting it again, because breast cancer is not a plaything. If we do nothing about it, our lives can be destroyed, but if we act now, our lives can be saved. Breast cancer occurs when cancer cells start to develop in the breast tissues. In the recent years, breast cancer has become rampant among the women of the world, being ranked fifth in the list of deadly cancers. Tragically, news had been spreading for more than a decade about famous female individuals who struggled to fight this killer disease, but the fight was in vain. Those included in the list were singers Minnie Riperton and Dusty Springfield, Linda who was the beloved wife of Beatles member Paul McCartney, and Oscar award-winning actress Bette Davis. There still are women out there who are braving this disease, some of w...

Boating Awareness
2008-05-27 21:09:00
One of the few things that I think about when we go out on our family boating trips, is accidents that can happen, and there are many that we all need to be aware of. We all can learn Boating Education Online and make sure that you tell everyone about it. We need to get the word out especially because in Arizona, 50% of boating accidents were due to alcohol. Operating a boat or any machinery while under the influence is very dangerous. Here are a couple of videos to watch.

righthand sidebar that is. *smile*A dear lady I have known for about five years just found out that one of her children has A.L.L Leukemia. I can't imagine what she and her husband are feeling and hope never to have to go through what they are going through. It's a very scary thing and beyond imagination unless you actually have a child with Leukemia (which I don't so therefore I personally can NOT imagine). Some wonderful people are holding auctions, gathering money, and have made a widget where you can donate money to help the family financially through this. I ask that even if you only have $5 to spare to please donate it. What would you want if YOUR child were in Serenity's position? You can follow the family's story on the father's blog HERE. Thank you in advance to anyone who takes the time to not only donate but also read about their journey.

Indian B-School teachers lack basic awareness
2008-05-21 11:26:00
This may come as a shocker to you, but nearly 90% of the faculties imparting business programs at Indian B-Schools are not aware of the basic facts about the national and the global economy such as GDP growth rate numbers. If this is what is the intellectual plight of MBA teachers, think about the level of knowledge our MBA students will have. While Indian business institutes are increasingly getting popular internationally, this revelation by ASSOCHAM Business Barometer (ABB) Survey comes as a shocker ! The ASSOCHAM Study on “Faculty Awareness” surveyed 258 faculty members (except top 30 B-schools) of various institutes imparting Masters in Business Administration (MBA) across the country. Here are some of the highlights of the survey carried out by ASSOCHAM Business Barometer: As many as 89 per cent of the teachers were unable to tell the GDP growth rate scaled by the Indian economy in the financial year 2006-07. Hardly 6 per cent of the lecturers surveyed r...

National Children's Mental Health Awareness Day is May 8, 2008: "help kids
2008-05-08 12:46:00
Mister Rogers would dispense this simple advice on this very special day: Give unconditional love - Children need to know that your love does not depend on their accomplishments.Nurture confidence and self-esteem - Praise and encourage your children. Set realistic goals. Be honest about your mistakes and avoid sarcasm. Encourage play - Play time is as important to a child's development as food. Play helps children be creative, develop problem-solving skills and self-control, and learn how to get along with others. Enroll children in after-school activities - This is a great way for kids to stay productive, learn something new, gain self-esteem and have something to look forward to during the week. If they are home alone, check in on them after school. Children need to know that even if you're not there physically, you're thinking about them, and interested in how they spend their day. Provide a safe and secure environment - Fear can be very real for a child. Try to fi...

Now I'm really hoping that we get that Stimulus money deposited very soon because I would like to donate some money to help raise money online for lupus. I know we don't all have loads of money to throw around, but every little bit that you can part with helps. If just the small amount of readers I have here donated a little bit of money, we could help someone reach their goal. What do you say? Are you ready to give a little bit in order to help a lot? I am headed over there now to see how I can help.

Celebrity Gardeners Help Celebrate Compost Awareness Week

Just because I’m a lean, green, vegan machine doesn’t mean my social group swims in the same pool. In fact, while my friends are always progressing, my nearest and dearest aren’t necessarily the most eco-friendly kids on the block. So when I called my buddy Tyler this morning to wish him a HAPPY COMPOST AWARENESS WEEK, I was met with a long sigh, an obvious eye roll and a snappy comeback– “And what’s next? Trash in a tree month?” True, we environmental so-and-sos have a lot of special days, weeks and months, but what’s life without a little celebration every now and then, right? And so in the spirit of green holidays, let’s pause for a moment and celebrate the ever-growing, socially responsible, compost revolution! Compost Awareness week is organized by The Composting Association (CA) and WRAP, with the goal of increasing awareness of compost in the wider community and highlight its many benefits and applications - particularly f...

RSS Awareness Day
2008-05-02 00:35:00
I'm going to use this space to promote technology for a moment rather than hockey. So if your mind is so far into preparation for tonight's game, read no further and I apologize for breaking you out of the zone.I did not realize this but today is RSS awareness day. "What is RSS?", you might ask. "Awesome!" would be my response.RSS is a great way to keep tabs on your favorite websites without needing to visit the site every hour to see if there's anything new. It helps give the notion of users being "pushed" data over the Web which is in stark contrast to the long standing need for users to "pull" their data in. Oddly enough, it appears that only 5% of Web users take advantage of this technology. If you use Firefox or IE7, your browser has native support for subscribing to feeds. Just watch for the orange RSS icon in the address bar of your browser.I personally don't like the built in support - mostly because your date is then tied to one browser and machine combo - so I use Goog...

RSS Awareness Day
2008-05-01 16:47:00
Today I'm going to celebrate The 1st RSS Awareness Day. Do you know RSS? Do you use it? Let me explain: RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a format used to deliver information from websites and pages that get updated regularly. An RSS document (which is called feed) contains either a summary or the full content from a website. The main benefit of RSS is that it enables people to stay connected with their favorite websites without having to visit them. Once you subscribe to a particular RSS feed, you will automatically receive updates from the website that publishes the feed, whenever they release new content. You can use online RSS readers (like Google Reader, Bloglines, Newsgator, Netvibes) or your email. Take a look at the video below: So, why don't you try to subscribe to About Blog Contests? Stay updated with all the best and simplest blog contest around the Net!

RSS Awareness Day
2008-05-01 13:00:00
Today is RSS Awareness Day: a celebration of RSS (Real Simple Syndication) when we can spread awareness of the benefits of RSS and encourage others to use this too.RSS is a format used to deliver content in an easily distributable form from websites which are updated regularly. Most blogging systems, for example provide an RSS or Atom feed to accompany the pages of the blog.In this post, I'll explain the basics of blog feeds with particular reference to Blogger powered feeds; how they are useful for your blog readers and how blog authors can make their feeds more useful and accessible too. What are RSS and Atom Feeds?RSS and Atom essentially perform the same function: they offer updates to a blog or website in a portable format. It's like the difference between Internet Explorer and Firefox: both allow you to access the internet, though the format and style of these browsers are different. You can read the updates of a "feed" in an RSS reader, receive updates by email, or even ...
RSS Awareness Day: What is RSS feeds, how it works,it's benifits etc.,?
2008-04-30 14:40:00
Dailyblogtips has initiated a campaign called "RSS awareness Day" on May 1st 2008 to create an awareness about RSS and its usage.According to the PewInternetProject and Feedburner report, only a very small 5.4% of the Internet population is aware of the RSS format and its benefits. So here is a quick guide for those people who want to know about RSS feeds and it's usage. If you are an average web visitor, you have around 5 or 10 web sites that you want to visit often and another 20 to 30 that you would like to visit whenever they have new content. But, how exactly do you know when there is an update? Well, there were only two methods so far: book marking and joining that newletter. With Bookmarks, the advantage is you are anonymous. With Newsletter, the advantage is web master can let you know whenever there is an update but your inbox can be flooded with spams. But RSS is actually the best of both worlds. Here is a way in which you can remain anonymous and still stay connected with your...
