The Azeroth Journal [April 2008 Issue]
2008-04-05 19:22:00
The April 2008 issue of The Azeroth Journal is light this month. Not much went down in March…We are doing good with guild progression, but we have hit some snags with raid participation for 25-man instances. We’re very good with Karazhan, in which Nightbane dropped a new robe ([Robe of the Elder Scribes]) to replace my [Imbued Netherweave Robe] that I’ve been wearing a little after I hit Level 70, several months ago… Due to running this blog, and some minor family problems, my time on WoW is limited only to raids. However, I managed to complete a bunch of level 65+ quests in Blade’s Edge Mountains when I had a few hours to spare after wiping several times on Void Reaver in The Eye. Let’s try again in Volume Two in a couple of weeks, along with my experiences on the Isle of Quel’Danas. The Addon list will be there as well. Diary of a World of Warcraft Player - These Kids Have No Game

I am at the mercy of children for approximately 86 hours per week. I speak, of course, of my time spent in the World of Warcraft. I am a Gnome Warlock, a Master Alchemist and an Auction House tycoon. I rule. I try to be friendly to the children who play this game. There are lots of ...

I Saw the Sign… I am so glad I left a guild I talked about in the last issue of “Azeroth Journal” (02/2008; Vol. 2). It seems all they did was made everyone upset by using inappropriate jokes. Now I can confirm that’s not all they did. This one member in particular I’m talking about fits the description of this guild–if not the guild I was kicked from on Stormreaver. We invited a player into a regular Steamvaults group to fill the empty space for the daily quest. We had everyone accounted for: a Rogue, Druid (Tank), Priest (Holy), Warlock (yours truly), and another Priest (Disc/Holy)…The player in question. Things were going well, until the first boss battle, where I had my doubts. The Priest warned me to get out of the way from the adds in the boss room–BUT IN ALL CAPS, LIKE THIS!! I saw the warning, but I couldn’t move immediately, since I was on on duty to Banish the additional mobs that just wore off… When we approache...

Karazhan, at last! After leaving a guild, and joining a new one, created by a Mage friend, we cleared Karazhan in our first week of existence. I applied for another guild (AJ 02/2008 Iss. - Vol. 2), but after a Rogue friend was turned down by the very same guild, we decided to make a guild just for us: the under-geared. Sunday night, we ran through the first 5 bosses in Karazhan. I got 2 new upgrades: [Spectral Band of Innervation] (From Attumen the Huntsman) and [Bands of Nefarious Deeds] (From Maiden of Virtue). I realized that I never died the first night in Karazhan. I almost did during the Shade of Aran fight, with 600 HP remaining. I somehow managed to survive. Monday night concluded our first Karazhan run, as we cleared through the last bosses but a few since we weren’t properly prepared–gear and healer wise. I got two more upgrades! [Talisman of Nightbane] (Dropped from Nightbane), and [Helm of the Fallen Hero] (Dropped from Prince Malchezaar), which I turned i...

Around Azeroth: The (re)birth of a Phoenix mountFiled under: Screenshots, Around Azeroth, Galleries, Mounts Exodeus of Celestial Blade on Icecrown was there when his guild downed Kael'thas for the second time. And what should drop, but the Ashes of Al'ar which summons the coveted Phoenix mount, a server first for Icecrown. Appropriately, (at least in RP terms) a Holy Pally won the roll. Exodeus considered the arrival of the fiery creature to be a good omen of things to come as his guild said goodbye to T5 content. Later that night, they not only walked into Hyjal for the first time and downed the first boss, but they also got attuned for the Black Temple. On to new beginnings, indeed.Do you have any unusual World of Warcraft images that are just collecting dust in your screenshots folder? Because we'd love to see it on Around Azeroth! New Breakthroughs…Sort of. Note: I started writing this post on Saturday, but things have drastically changed since then, so I’m going to keep the original writing as much as possible, and striking them out with the new occurrences. I finally got enough honor points to get my Gladiator’s Dreadweave Robe for my Warlock! I also found my Shattrath Jumpers (Thanks, Mitch!) in the bank and tossed some gems on it. I still have my Imbued Netherweave Boots, just in case… As for my chances of getting into Karazhan–or any Burning Crusade raid instance before Wrath of the Lich King comes out–it may come true! I was approached by a Guild Officer, asking me if I had any experiences in raids and how my gear was. When I did Gruul’s Lair, I had more Green than Blue Gear, now with the addition of the Dreadweave Robe, I now have three Purple gear, and two Greens left. With my new gear, I have 464 Spell Dmg, un-buffed. With buffs, it’s 717. I may be able...

The Lunar Festival begins today in AzerothFiled under: Events, News items, Screenshots, Raiding, NPCs, Galleries This annual in-game holiday is scheduled to coincide with real life Chinese New Years. Asian style outfits, ceremonial fireworks, delicious dumplings and a once-a-year raid boss are all part of the celebration. Quests send you to find 50 coins and turn them in for various goodies as well. It's a fun RP event taking place across player cities throughout Azeroth, but mostly centered in the Druid village of Moonglade. The real question this year is if this holiday is going to upgrade the event like they did for Hallow's End. Will there be fireworks in Shattrath? Elders in Arcatraz? Revelers in Zul'Aman? Shouldn't a major celebration like this have Omen dropping some welfare epics, too? Recently they promised an older holiday would get a make over. Is this the one? We'll have until February 23 to find out.Gallery: Lunar Festival Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments L...

Azeroth Journal [February 2008 Issue]
2008-02-01 06:13:00
Return of the Warlock January was very light for me and WoW. I logged on for the first time (other than getting honor points for my Warlock) a couple of weeks ago. I got an invite into my first guild after transferring to WildHammer, and ran Heroic Arcatraz with two outsiders–only to end up wiping a few times and disbanded right away. I was a little rusty with my macros in different places for PvP situations. I manage to re-arrange them before anyone [else] died. I guess it didn’t matter if I was distracted. So far, I like this guild. Many of the members are quiet, just like me, but they’re not like the last one I was in on Stormreaver… This server is very good–for PvE. The Alliance are terrible PvPers: they run whenever they see you–along with another Paladin and a Rogue. At least I won’t have to worry about many griefers. The only thing good about this server is PvE. The Shadowburn battlegroup for the Horde is doomed. What’s worse...

Azeroth and Outland Journey of 2007 Recap: Part 3
2008-01-22 18:57:00
Here is the final installment of the Azeroth and Outland Journey of 2007 Recap. If you read the previous parts, then I thank you for coming this far. I really had alot of fun playing the Warlock class. Now that it’s 2008, I would like to focus on what I couldn’t do in 2007. Blizzard made it easier for late bloomers to get the Season One Arena Set, and Heroics can now be done sooner being Honored, rather than being Revered. Leveling is faster than before, since Patch 2.3. I will have another Level 70 very soon and I would like to play other classes to the limit before Wrath of the Lich King. Without further ado, I present the final chapters of my journey in Outland. The Aftermath After hitting level 70, I didn’t do much updating as I attempted to get attuned for Karazhan and the lack of party members to run the instance. Many players we asked only wanted to do Heroic and gave the cold shoulder to the normal instance. There was no one who were willing to use their...

In part two, I will recap my journey from the day I stepped foot into Outland, getting level 70, and the hardships of being in a popular guild. Now then…On to Part Two! Room for Improvement During my new journey through Outland, I came across many things that’s worth mentioning to my Sin’dorei, who would become excellent Warlocks in my after I leave the World [of Warcraft]. [/roleplaying] My Warlock build is nearly perfected! At level 61, I can get the skill I have been waiting for: Unstable Affliction. I found the build from this page on WoWWiki when I started playing Warlock. It is my favorite build so far. The build, 43/7/11: 43 Points in Affliction, 7 in Demonology, 11 in Destruction. It took me a while to get UA, since I used 11 points in earlier levels to get Shadowburn (in Destruction). I love Shadowburn, especially in PvP situati...

Breakfast Topic: Your favorite places in Azeroth... and beyond!Filed under: Breakfast topics, Leveling When leveling my latest alt (a Druid, thank you for asking!), it's become very apparent that there are certain zones in the game that I simply fly through -- and other zones in the game where I can't seem to make any progress. Every character I get into the 40s, for example, hits Stranglethorn Vale and comes to a screeching halt. It's not because it's not well-designed or because it's a poor place to quest and level, but because I just don't like the place. (Sure, it was fun to spend ten or more levels there the first time and perhaps even the second time -- but by now it's too long in one place for my short attention span.) However, I burn through quests in Felwood and Winterspring, the two zones comprising some of my favorite places in Azeroth. So today I wonder what some of your favorite places in the World of Warcraft are -- and why?Permalink | Email- this ...

I have returned from Azeroth to bring you news on my progression with my Warlock and Paladin classes. Things are looking up; however, my Warlock may end up being an alternative toon for revenge in Hillsbrad and Stranglethorn Vale? Since our guild suffered a shake up due to differences in attitudes, we are forced to take alternative measures for enjoyment; hopefully, my paladin will get a shot in Karazhan. Right now, I am leveling up my Blood Elf paladin, currently level 36. My goal is to get half a level a day--or more if my higher level friends help out in instances. With a couple of addons and a a leveling guide to boot, it's smooth sailing. The areas of the game I dread the most are Hillsbrad Foothills and Stranglethorn Vale. If I was playing on a normal realm, this wouldn?t be a problem (yes, I play on a PvP realm). Fortunately, I have been lucky to avoid trouble with Alliance players, except for a few times by hunters?Luckly, I am done with HIllsbrad at my level. Next up: ...
