Castello di Compiano ? Vacation at a Medieval Castle near Parma
2007-07-09 19:09:00 In the hills surrounding Parma there are numerous castles. Many of these properties have been transformed into hotels while maintaining their aura of mystery. Parma is famous for its prosciutto and Parmesan cheese. These products alone are a great reason to spend a few days in the area. Parma is also a land of scenic views and Medieval towns. Castello di Compiano is the anchor of the town of Compiano, recently recognized as one of the Borghi piu? Belli del Italia, the most beautiful towns of Italy. The town of Compiano develops inside the walls of the castle making this a perfect destination for a 3 or 4 day stay. Local shops, restaurants and products are all within walking distance of primary unit of the castle. Only a few areas have been dedicated to lodging. The major portion of the castle is a museum. Most of the rooms are on the upper floor or in the towers creating a suggestive atmosphere and beautiful views of the surrounding area. Rock walls and original fishbone wood floors ...
The wine Trail of Lake Garda ? Wines, Food, Entertainment, and Agriturismo
2007-06-24 18:53:00 Getting off the beaten tourist path and knowing what to do, where to go and what to eat is difficult. Most of us will use the Michelin Guide, the Gambero Rosso, or some other well known published book to identify a restaurant or a hotel in an area we do not know. Because the places are published they are usually not the best deals or most interesting solutions. I have found that when living in an area for about six months the locals have their secret places. For one reason or another these places never made it on the numerous publications that can give us insight into an area.Chatting with one of my buddies this week he mentioned that he had recently joined an association made up of small producers in the area of lake Garda. The association is made up of 80 members. Their businesses include: vineyards, olive oil, agriturismo, hotels, restaurants, artisans, cultural associations, and museums. Through the members you can find local foods and wine including: Olive oil with low acidity,...

The Rob and Big Mini Horse
2007-05-24 18:13:00 Rob & Big have lived up to expectations for their 2nd season opener with the mini-horse. That poor horse was as freaked out about its new surroundings and Rob & Big were especially when they brought it home in the back seat of their SUV. Everyone seemed to look a little disturbed with a mini-horse in the house. Meaty even checked out it's naughty spot.It didn't take long to figure out the horse isn't a domesticated in-house animal. Once you have a mini-horse piss a gallon, and shit 2 lbs on your carpet, I'm sure you realize the cute little bastard needs his own outdoor home. They tore down the skate ramp and pimped out the horse with a stall replicated to the looks of Rob's crib.Of course Rob being the skater he is, felt mini-horse would be great to pull him on his board up the road, cowboy hat and all. Never under estimate the speed of a mini horse cause that bitch took off quick!I hope mini-horse shows up in a couple more episodes cause he may be a pain in the ass but he...

The 2-point web and browser wars
2007-04-19 17:10:00 I’m sure you know if you’ve followed some of my previous Internet posts that the concept of Web 2.0 is about everything being about the user, by the user and for the user. Web 2.0 sites however, seem to be sites full of leechers or in a more appropriate term, consumers rather than contributors. The ...

Bob and Betty Buy a Home (Part 2): We See Some Homes, But Bob and Betty Get
2007-03-30 07:46:00 Let’s continue the saga of Bob and Betty, our hypothetical first-time home buyers who were introduced in the first of a series of articles I’ll be writing. We met at 9am sharp on Saturday morning at my broker’s office in downtown Palo Alto. Though it’s easier to view homes with clients during open house times, ...
Cauliflower with Crab and Balsamic Vinegar
2007-03-16 04:58:00 This one is from food and wine magazine. One of the few magazines that I subscribe to. (what a not-surprise, since I love both food and wine). Even that was not such a given, I don't know about others but I am really bad about accepting those freebee trial offers and then not canceling them. Well, I have been ripped off, several times. Other times (like the stupid almost free newpaper in my driveway it is more painful to really deal with the offer, since I never have time to read the newspaper and spend all the time reclycing it!) it is not worth it, but what I am trying to say is that I like this magazine. The past issue had an interesting cauliflower and scallops recipe. Well, I loved the idea and since I always have cauliflower and balsamic vinegar in my house, that was hardly the problem, it was scallops. I love scallops but I use it less than shrimps. In this particular case I had some fake crab, available. I felt, this had the sweetness that the scallops would have and substi...
Bob and Betty Buy a Home (Part 1): We Meet, Discuss Their Needs, and Crunc
2007-03-05 01:57:01 Let me introduce you to the two newest stars of this blog: Bob and Betty, a fictional family, sort of a composite blend of numerous past clients. In this x-part series, where “x” is currently an unknown number, I’ll walk you through how we got them into a home, despite the heroic efforts of a cantankerous market, an incompetent mortgage broker (soon fired), and a sleazy Realtor or two to thwart our plans. Enjoy the ride… ———— I first met Bob and Betty about a year ago at a social event hosted by mutual friends. They had moved up to the Bay Area from Los Angeles two years previously after finishing their graduate studies at UCLA — Betty an MBA, and Bob a PhD in bio-something-or-other. We got talking about the real estate market — a common topic these days — and their sticker shock, only now wearing off, about Bay Area real estate prices. LA prices aren’t exactly cheap either, but the Bay Area certainly has i...

'Thenpandi seemai..'(first song), 'Suthi Suthi..'(with Harini), 'kadhalin deepam..', 'Rendaka rendaka...'(run ducka, runducka - a ganguly song.;))', 'devuda devuda...'(thalai song),'alaivosai gala gala', 'yenna thavam seidhanai..'(Harini solo), 'Pothi vecha maligai mottu..',manguyuleu poonguyelei' etc were some of the songs magically transformed into vibrations by the master.Next day, Indian Ocean performed at the Wesley school grounds. The pics aint as clear because of lighting and distance. The show was FANTASTIC. I had to change it after wide-spread protests from my friends and colleagues. What i like about The Indian ocean started with beautiful 'lost in ruins..' from their 'Desert Rain'. What i like about Indian Ocean is that they take inspiration from indian culture,s...
