Baby Blues
2007-11-16 15:54:00 So, I just found out I'm pregnant. Of course. Once things appear to be going well for once, I have to go screw it up. I haven't told anyone yet, mainly because I can't think of anyone who will be happy for me. My parents are going to tell me that I'm ruining my life (I'm 19, and going to college), and my ever-helpful mother will add that I am throwing my future away. My friends will all think that I'm some sort of slut, even though I've been going out with the same guy for almost two years now. And I don't want to even get started on how HE will react, but at least he'll stay by my side, unlike everyone else. I just like how I will be the one who gets yelled at, as if I'm doing this just to spite them, like if I shaved my head or something. I just with somebody would be happy for me, for once. I know it's weird, especially in this day and age where abortion has become "vogue", but I actually want a child. Yeah, it...
CD Baby Blues Bonanza
2007-11-07 23:17:00 Two months or so ago I was named a winner in an informal contest done by James Brausch on his internet business blog. I was beginning to think that I had been forgotten and that I would have to write a post asking all of you what you think I should do about it. Maybe I ...

Is It The Baby Blues or Postpartum Depression?
2007-10-24 13:14:00 Remember living without the words "stressed" and "depressed?" It seems that most of society has now become so aware of the conditions, that even our teenagers complain of being stressed or depressed, rather than "stretched for time" or just plain "sad." According to Lucy Puryear M.D., author of Understanding Your Moods When You're Expecting, and witness for the defense in the trial of Andrea Yates, approximately 19 million Americans experience a depressive episode each year. Women seem to be the most effected by true clinical depression, the number estimated at 12 million yearly. One in four will have a depressive episode during her lifetime, some experiencing postpartum depression. Though all women experience hormonal changes, an estimated 80% of new mothers feel the "Baby Blues." 10% of those women will continue into postpartum depression. What's the difference?Bab...

Postpartum Baby Blues
2007-10-23 15:08:00 Many women will experience mood swings after the birth of a child. Even though this range of emotions is normal, it is still classified as a form of postpartum depression. While the ?baby blues? are the least severe form of postpartum depression, it is important not to ignore the changes that are happening in your ...

Baby blues
2007-10-10 00:00:00 You are supposed to be over the moon about being a mother, and yet some find their situation overwhelming. Post-pregnancy blues has been a recognised problem for many years, but new research out this week shows that a trend towards depression starts well before the growth of your child. A survey of almost five thousand ...
Pre-baby blues
2007-10-01 03:40:00 Many pregnant women are reluctant to discuss their depression, because they feel embarrassed, ashamed, or even guilty about having negative emotions. Stereotypes about the ?glow? of pregnancy and the joyful anticipation that women should feel as they await the birth of their baby make it difficult for some women to admit that they are feeling ...
