Not Jane's Addiction starting promptly at 8:30 p.m. (40 minutes after BOH took the stage). Not a "police" helicopter circling 30 yards above the crowd as BOH and Jane's Addiction blasted away at each other from opposing stages. And not frontman Ben Bridwell's guitar cutting out during "Ode to LRC," prompting Bridwell to lay his ax on the stage and walk into the crowd for a sing-along. 2008-03-25 19:17:00 "Cease To Begin" è il secondo album degli americani Band Of Horses, ridotti di un componente dopo l'abbandono di Mat Brooke, cofondatotore della band. Il disco è uscito in autunno ed autunnali sono le atmosfere di questo nuovo lavoro. Indie rock americano emozionante, malinconico e a volte proprio triste. Con quelle chitarre avvolgenti, vigorose ma non violente, che ti fanno vibrare qualcosa dentro. Ed una bella interpetazione del cantante, con il giusto pathos. I brani sono tutti di ottima qualità, forse non ce ne sono uno o più che spicchino di molto sugli altri, c'è una certa uniformità e compattezza lungo tutto il disco. Ma mai noia. La partenza, con "Is There A Ghost", promette già bene. E infatti la traccia seguente, "Ode To LRC", non delude, anzi è una vera gemma, grandiosa. E che dire di "No One's Gonna Love You"? Ballata lenta emozionante e bellissima. C'è la dolcezza di "Detlef Schrempf" (nome di un giocatore di nazionalità tedesca che giocò nell'NBA negli anni '80 e...

Lead singer Ben Bridwell said about the album in an interview: "I guess the first record had some kind of country-ish leanings and things but I think there's maybe a little bit more of that feeling on it, a little more down-home, I guess, and not so much indie rock."At first that description doesn't quite make sense. "Is There a Ghost" was the first song released from the album and it is the albums opening track. It goes from acoustic Neil Young ballad to My Morning Jacket rocker in a matter of minutes in a very typical Band of Horses fashion. The Ben Bridwell quote doesn't make sense until track number 4 "Detlef Schrempf". Named for the former Seattle Supersonics standout, the song is a straight out country song through and through.
