Paulo Grua: Zoe Brazilian Fusion bands new album
2012-01-11 21:27:00 Zoe have just released their first album, recorded live at the studio. The Brazilian trio's sound is a mix of the members diverse influences and backgrounds - Abraao Souza's laid-back and elegant bass lines, Diego Marins and his creative drumming and Grua's odd fusion of indie/alternative and modern fusion concepts in guitar. The end result is an album that borders on both post-rock and jazz-rock, a sonic experience enriched by brazilian rhythms and harmonies from Bossa to Baiao. Zoe by Zoe
The Marvelous Variety of Tungsten Wedding Bands
2012-01-03 10:29:00 Both titanium and tungsten are considered “model metals” in the jewelry industry because they were not available to the consumer market as commodities until ten years ago. They have gained tremendous popularity since the introduction and become an integral part of the jewelry material spectrum. Due to the rather little exposure, many questions arise concerning titanium and tungsten when it comes to choosing jewelry. The followings are some points of consideration if you are seriously thinking about buying a titanium or tungsten wedding ring. Under normal conditions our rings will never scratch or lose their mirror like polish, in some rare instances rings may develop small micro-scratches that are faintly visible but do not diminish from the rings polish or look, if this does happen again, we will gladly exchange your ring for a new one. What does this mean? Whether working in the shop, outside, in the office, or on the mountain you can wear your ring without ever having...
Guthrie Govan, Dave Kilminster: STOLEN! Thieves take all the bands gear in
2011-12-21 18:46:00 Help the band find their gear! If you see or hear anything about this gear let Guthrie know or drop a line here and I will pass the information on. From Drop Box Guthrie Govan's gear stolen in Rome The gear was taken from the band's van in Rome on the afternoon of 17 December. However, the Italian police told him that there was nothing they could do, so the guitarist has turned to the internet for help instead. You can view the full list of stolen gear below, some of which was rented gear that Guthrie and his band are now obliged to replace. Perhaps more devastatingly, the thieves also took the only copy of the group's pro-shot footage of a recent show that was intended for a live DVD. If you see any of this equipment surface in gear shops around Europe, or on the internet, let Guthrie know via his MySpace, or report it to your local authority. Everyone else can help by posting this page/list around any relevant forums and social networks. Guthrie Govan's stolen gear list ...
Choosing the Best Resistance Bands
2011-12-19 17:42:00 If you want to keep fit with the help of resistance bands then you may be wondering what the best ones to buy are. Resistance bands may also be referred to as tubing, tubes or strength bands so it is important to bear this in mind when searching for them. You will find a large number of these resistance bands available so there are a few things to consider when trying to find the best ones for you:· &n-bsp; After a while, resistance bands will lose their elasticity in the same way that rubber bands do and if you are someone who plans to exercise on a regular basis, then this may happen sooner than for someone who will only use their bands occasionally. Therefore, choosing resistance bands that have a warranty with them is a good idea.· &-nbsp; If you want to have a more intense workout with your resistance bands then it might be a good idea to look for a set that will allow you to add a...

My 11 Favorite American Bands of the '60s
2011-06-06 04:28:00 On Friday night, I caught an outstanding solo performance by Roger McGuinn, who had been the central figure in The Byrds, one of the best bands of the 1960s. (You can read my review here.)With McGuinn's famed Rickenbacker guitar still ringing in my ears a couple nights later, I'm inspired to devote today's Booth Reviews post to "My Favorite American Bands of the '60s."While my top four British bands of the '60s--Beatles, Stones, Who and Kinks--and even Led Zeppelin (for their first 2 albums) would precede any of my American picks, there clearly was a lot of great music coming from this side of the Atlantic as well. As with many of my lists, precise calibration of the criteria...

Fashion: Royal Wedding Bands
2011-04-09 15:00:00 Palace officials have stated to the press that Prince William has decided not wear a wedding ring. Although Prince Williams has neglected to state the reasoning for his decision, it is not uncommon amongst royal patriarchs to be without a ring. Prince Williams grandfather, Prince Philip chose not to wear a wedding ring, just as Prince Charles did when he married Princess Diana. However, Prince Williams fiancee Kate Middleton will be wearing an unknown design of a welsh gold band. The scarce gold has been a royal tradition for royal weddings for almost 100 years and has been worn both by Princes Diana and Queen Elizabeth II....

Is resistance the secret of joy? - Activist marching bands and the sounds o
2010-10-07 17:12:00 The use of carivalesque strategies in protest became more widespread in the 1960s with Hippy and Yippy ?happenings? and ?be ins? and the theatrical politics of the Situationist International and the Diggers. But it was in the 1990s with Carnivals Against Capitalism ? massive street rallies against neoliberalism and war ? and the increasingly global responses to economic summits such as gathering of the G20, WTO, APEC, etc. that street activist bands really came into their own as essential tools of protest -- and, let?s face it, as tools of joy and festivity in the tension filled spaces of confrontation when encountering state authority in the street.

MyBand Provides Online Digital Store For Music Bands
2009-08-25 11:03:00 India lives on music, albeit most of them are from movies. Each one of us would remember those batch mates from college who was the best singer or the best drummer in town – guys who would save the face of the batch each time an inter-college fest was around. What happened to them after they passed out of college? Nobody knows. Perhaps we still do not have a strong foundation for music – entrepreneurship. And this is exactly what I think MyBand, a Mumbai based startup can offer. Founded by Debashis Dey, a former media executive in February, the company is now offering a digital platform for Indian music bands to sell their content online. We had covered myband before here. The company claims they have over 800 bands from across the country signed up on the website since its inception, which is fairly decent. What can give the startup a real boost is the fact that most music bands come out of colleges and the company can use this community to effect a viral branding effe...

RockDex: A Measure for Bands Effectiveness on Social Media
2009-04-29 17:00:00 Social media is one of the cheapest, most effective ways of branding. And for musicians, branding is what it's all about. An artist can spend time developing social media accounts and multimedia promotions to get their name out there, but how can they tell if it's effective? Well, unless you have big money to spend on market penetration assessments, you can use RockDex.
Three of The Best New Bands I Just Heard Of Today For The First Time.
2009-04-07 22:37:00 It's a SemiDaily List!I'm still saving the world for new things and fighting off The Death of New.It's not just Hollywood that's afraid of new stuff; the music industry is also afraid of new sounds and new music and new artists... and they're afraid of them because we are afraid of them. (As usual, by "we" I mean you. I have tons of songs on my iPod from bands I've never heard of.)The music industry is afraid of new music and new artists because music listeners don't want new artists and they don't want new songs. A list of the top 25 concert tours in 2008 shows that only four of the top 25 were anything even remotely new -- if "Jay-Z and Mary J. Blige" can be considered "remotely new." And two of those four are Miley Cyrus and the Jonas Brothers. So people won't go see new bands in concert. Why? Because they don't hear them on the radio. And why don't they hear them on the radio? Because radio stations won't play new songs for fear that you'll turn off the radi...

book review :: unleashing the POWER of rubber bands
2008-09-12 17:53:00 I've recently had the opportunity to review the latest book from author Nancy Ortberg which is curiously titled unleashing the POWER of rubber bands: lessons in non-linear leadership. As Ortberg's second book, rubber bands takes an unusual (and sometimes uncomfortable for us linear-types) approach to discussing leadership. Ortberg states that, "early in [her] career [she] learned that [her] understanding of people would rival [her] job competencies in determining [her] leadership success." This is an important point that we should all pay attention to, and is the main theme of rubber bands. Ortberg continues that "this book is a consolidation of what [she has] learned through success and failure, as well as what [she] deeply believe[s] to be true of great leadership." Ortberg accomplishes her mission in this by practicing exactly what she preaches... by telling stories.Through her storytelling, she illustrates over and over again how leaders should stret...
Promoting a Memorable Message through Wrist Bands
2008-09-12 11:26:00 Ever since Lance Armstrong made his miraculous return from cancer to win multiple Tour de France races, I've loved to wear silicone wristbands for causes I believe in. I still have my "Livestrong" band and I couldn't help but laugh when my software company decided to issue promotional bands to employees, vendors and customers alike that read "Code Strong".What is great is that this created an inside joke that we could share throughout the organization, and also helped promote our company's message quite easily. When we handed out the bands at an industry conference, they were immediately a hit (we had to order more!) Try promoting your message on items that are useful (pens, laser mice) or have a sense of humor (like our bands) to make sure you get the response you are looking for.

Why Attraction to Guys in Bands, Jealous Girlfriends, Sometimes a Guy is Ju
2008-06-09 19:11:00 What I have learned this weekend is love sometimes is not enough. Having chemistry is just chemistry. Sometimes an inner connection with someone is just a connection that is it. Sometimes music is just music and sometimes a song is just a song. Sometimes a guy is just a guy in a band who knows how to sing better than others. A sign for me to notice this guy in the band is just a sign. I don?t know why there is such an attraction to them maybe it is because everyone else wants them too it is a competition thing. I see how woman can fall for guys in bands. I try not to get caught up in the attraction of that but try to see special things in people. I think I just saw something special this young guy in a band in a way saw more in him that just a guy in band. I saw such a talent that deserves to be discovered. I realize after the weekend his new girlfriend told me stop talking to him. Then told me stop going to gigs, I don?t want to cause any problems with anyone. I didn?t even know I...
