2008-04-21 14:05:00 We drank this bottle of the 2006 Nelson Family Vineyards Barn Blend the other night in honor of the fact that we could not attend the blending party this year, sadly. Last year we did go, as I've talked about before, and this bottle was the product of that party, though sadly we were not the creators of it!The Barn Blend is a mix that's Cabernet heavy with a bit of Merlot and Zinfandel making up the rest. I believe it costs around $18, clocked in at 14.8% alcohol by volume, and had a real cork closure.On the nose I found strawberry, leather, raspberry, currants, earth, and spice. In the mouth, again, the flavors were dominated by the strawberries, with raspberry hiding underneath, some spice and a bit of the earthy note.The wine needs some time to breathe before drinking, I definitely think this one has some time to age left in it! I served it with homemade pepperoni pizza, and it was an okay match, but being so Cab heavy I probably should have served it with the grilled steak...

It didn’t affect us in Werribee very much because it was our third week back at Uni, but on Thursday we spied them being shown around our campus, peeking in on us as we went about our day. There was a touch of nostalgia seeing them; I can remember how excited I was to finally be in Veterinary Science, I couldn’t wait to get into it. I had lost some of that keenness during the two pre-clinical years in Parkville, but the enthusiasm returned swiftly at the beginning of this year. The big event though, is the Barn Dance. I know, it sounds corny to anyone who hasn’t been there and understood. While it’s largely an event to welcome the new first years and give them a a chance to be silly and socialise, it’s also a chance for students in other years to do the same, and catch up with friends who have stayed back and are now in different year levels for whatever reason. Although neither Windows Server 2008 nor Vista SP1 are available for general release yet, they are available to TechNet and Microsoft Connect subscribers, and the product code doing the rounds is exactly the same as that available on these sources. 2008-02-06 19:50:00 I'd like a small barn, maybe 6 stalls at most, a tack room, and an office area or place to just hang out. I like this one in the picture as I like the stall to turn out area. The only thing this is missing is the indoor riding arena. I'd want water available indoors and it would have to be heated. But with plenty of ventolation and light. A hay storage room would be nice too. I like this one too, only there would be fence all around with gates to different turn out areas. Storage on right, stalls on left with aisles in both and center riding arena. That would be cool.
