Bob Barr urges us to vote for one worst Republicans in the country
2008-12-01 15:52:00
Bob Barr urges us to vote for one of the worst Republicans in the country.    I am no fan of Saxby Chambliss but it looks like Bob Barr is. I see no reason for Barr to go to bat for Saxby. He knows people were not happy with him giving money to him earlier this year in a race in which we had a great candidate running. I have not been happy with since Denver and this is just another example. Here is the emailDear Doug,In Tuesday December 2nd's runoff election we have a choice between  incumbent Republican Senator Saxby Chambliss and Democratic challenger  Jim Martin.I urge you to vote for Saxby Chambliss.Sen. Chambliss is closer to the Libertarian position on a number of key issues  including: shrinking the size of government, less government spending,  abolishing the IRS, replacing the income tax with a consumption tax and  ending the government bailouts. And there is one other major consideration: the Legislative branch of...

I have to agree with Newt as well on this. While Lieberman does have some conservative views, he is still tied to the democratic party, and that would upset many in the base. I would like to see him as Secretary of State.

Though I may not fully agree 100% with how the campaign was run, I'm overall happy with it. I believe that we'll see over 1 million votes for Bob as the end result - which would be nearly 3 times or more that of either Harry Browne or Badnarik. It would also be more than both of those two combined. It's those figures that make the expenses pointed out by a ticked of Phillies seem very insignificant.

Barr Campaign spent $18,691 on Limo Servicesthis is posted at www.thedailyliberty.com By phillies Posted on Wed Oct 22, 2008 at 3:09 PM EST That's in September.  That was 7% of funds raised by Barr 2008 in September. For September, the Barr campaign raised $252,383, for an election cycle total to date of $1,106,681.  That includes $197,159 though the end of May, raised immediately before or after the nomination date and through May 31. As a benchmark, the Harry Browne 2000 campaign reported that it raised in total 2.4 million dollars.  While a large part of the Browne funding was for the pre-nomination campaign, Browne raised a million dollars between getting the nomination and election day.  Badnarik 2004 raised slightly more. A search of the Barr 2008 FEC Financial disclosures reveals total spending for limo services, for that one month, of $18,691.56, including payments to A First Choice Limo, Alternative Business Enterprises, Crystal Limousine, Inc., E...

Bob Barr to Change His Veep?
2008-09-10 23:17:00
To Ron Paul? Considering how much money Ron Paul raised compared to how much Barr has raised (less than a million) it makes a whole lot of sense. However given the fact that Ron Paul's supporters haven't already flocked to Barr's banner and Paul endorsed all third party presidential candidates rather then Barr specifically I'm doubting that Paul will accept. However it would be really interesting if I were wrong.

Well, too late for McCain to select Lieberman, but that would have been great -- especially if it had split the party and resulted in 15% or more voters going Libertarian. I've long been unaffiliated with a party and have often voted for Libertarian candidates if and when they are on the ticket here. We need a strong party that advocates small government, fiscal conservatism and genuine respect for our rights as individual citizens.

By being the only presidential candidate on the ballot. Apparently the other two parties forgot to file in time...From Ballot Access News:Section 192.031 of the Texas election code says that political parties must certify their presidential and vice-presidential candidates for the November ballot no later than 70 days before the general election. It says, ?A political party is entitled to have the names of its nominees for president and vice-president placed on the ballot if before 5 p.m. of the 70th day before presidential election day, the party?s state chair signs and delivers to the secretary of state a written certification of the name?s of the party?s nominees for president and vice-president.? This year, that deadline is August 26. UPDATE: At 2:30 pm Texas time, August 27, Kim Kizer of the Texas Secretary of State?s elections division says neither major party?s certification has been received in the Elections Division. The Executive Office of the Secretary of State refers all...

The WaPo on Bob Barr
2008-08-19 01:48:00
The Washington post did a two page article on Bob Barr today. I'd like to say it was well written, thoughtful, insightful but unfortunately I can't In fact over at TMV Jazz Shaw called it a "hit piece". Personally I can't agree. First of all its hard to call anything in the style section of the WaPo a political hit piece. What it was in fact was an attempt to marginalize Bob Barr. I mean any article that talks more about his dimples than his political positions isn't trying to take the man seriously.I really have to wonder if there isn't some ulterior motive in both the content and the placement of the article. I mean after all Bob Barr is the most politically viable candidate the Libertarian party has run in a long time. Thats bound to ruffle a few feather. But the least the WaPo can do is tackle the man on his merits rather than try to portray him as a flaky Libertarian also-ran. NPR managed to at least do that much. I'll leave it to you to divine what what that means about ...

Finally a Candidate that will stand up for what is rightComment posted by Anonymous on Tue, 08/12/2008 - 10:11pm Don't get me wrong, drugs are bad when misused. But reading this article, we can see how far we've come to combat a problem that just grows not to mention that these officers killed 2 family pets of an innocent person. These dogs and there owners were innocent civillians who got tangled up in a scheme by someone else. It's amazing that the press hasn't picked up this article as someone is actually saying what needs to be said. I went to http://www.bobbarr2008.com when I read this article and Bob is saying the right things. I never voted for a third party candidate before, but now I'm ready to volunteer for his campaign and do my part to get someone in office with a head on his shoulders. Its funny the mainstream press will pick up articles about someone's shoes or someone else's vacation plans, but they won't address or cover the issues which they are paid to cover...

People can forget about this issue of privacy, in America you no longer have privacy. If law enforcement can take a relative of yours dna without permission to track a criminal or swipe your drivers licenses to read who you are and your genetic codes in the stores and supermarkets now FACE it it is OVER. If there is no national id card there will be a biometric social security card produced and also go and look at Nspd and hspd another biometric feature the current president has going now so hang it up.

Bob Barr Blasts District of Columbia, D.C. for Flouting Heller Decision on Gun Control July 21, 2008 3:25 pm EST Atlanta, GA -- “Citizens of Washington, D.C. and firearms rights organizations must be prepared to file a quick and clear challenge to the new Washington, D.C. gun control law designed to keep them disarmed,” says Bob Barr, the Libertarian Party candidate for president.  “The City Council is attempting to flout the recent U.S. Supreme Court decision in Heller that explicitly affirmed an individual’s right to own firearms. The Council is disingenuously doing this by appearing to legalize gun ownership while restricting the right into ineffectiveness.” For instance, explains Barr, “the District of Columbia will continue to ban semi-automatic weapons, the most common kind of handgun in America. Moreover, residents will be required to keep their guns unloaded and either disassembled or disabled with a trigger lock.  Unfortunately, most criminals aren...
Barr visits Nutroots; What this tells us
2008-07-20 14:11:00
It’s immensely amusing; The last several years we have had long lines of leftists denounce saying the Middle East politics of “the enemy of my enemy is my friend”. This argument, apparently, is supposed to suggest that our involvement in Iraq is somehow deficient, and of course, that all this is the blame of the Republican administrations involved.  None of this, of course, accounts for Jimmy Carter’s involvement with the origination of this particular policy in Iraq. Be that as it may, I was amused to note none other than Bob Barr attending the Nutroots conference in Austin the other day.  I gather that just about everybody on the planet expected Al Gore to show up, but nobody expected Barr.  Sort of like the Spanish Inquisition, I suppose. Nobody expects them, either. One can only assume that there is a special kind of pragmatism going on these days, with the left so desperate to get one of its own inside the White House. however you read that, there can...

Libertarian party impact on 2008 elections Here is a link www.enctoday.comJuly 17, 2008 - 10:34PM Barry Smith Staff Writer  RALEIGH - Libertarian Party candidates likely won't win the presidency or the governor's race this year. But they could be a player in helping determine who will reside in the White House and the Executive Mansion. The State Board of Elections Web page shows that out of the 5.8 million registered voters in the state, only 293 are affiliated with the Libertarian Party. The number will likely grow since the Libertarians have only been a recognized party for a few weeks. They'd been recognized in the past but recently had to go through the cumbersome petition process to regain ballot access. Now that they're on the ballot, there's some sense that their presence could have an effect on a couple of races. In recent decades, the numbers of independent voters have increased. In North Carolina, independents are registered as "unaffiliated." Nearly 1.3 mill...

like Ron Paul more than Bob Barr, But there is a movement growing to get these two to join forces. Two popular LP sites are both talking about a BarrPaul ticket. Libertarian Presidential Candidate Bob Barr Will File Lawsuit Against Oklahomahttp://www.ksbitv.com/h-ome/25481589.html A 2008 presidential hopeful speaks out against Oklahoma's election policies.  The Libertarian Party's Presidential nominee, Bob Barr, will file a lawsuit to overturn the state's ballot access requirement that would put his name on the November ballot.  Oklahoma requires a candidate to get about 40,000 signatures to be added to the ballot.  Barr's campaign says they are on track in every other state because they require less than 10,000 names.  Barr says it's unconstitutional. "We believe that is unfair, we believe that the citizens of Oklahoma ought to have the same rights in terms of access to voting for the office of President and Vice President as the other states and the District of Columbia," Libertarian Candidate for President, Bob Barr explained. Barr turned in close to 10,000 petition signatures, and will be running for the libe...

From the www.thehill.com Barr: GOP says one thing and does another By Klaus Marre Posted: 06/29/08 12:09 PM [ET] Libertarian Party presidential candidate Bob Barr, who has some Republicans worried that he might take votes from their nominee, on Sunday accused the GOP and its standard-bearer Sen. John McCain (Ariz.) of saying one thing and doing another. “What’s wrong with John McCain is symptomatic of what’s wrong with the Republican Party in these first years of the 21st century,” said Barr, a former Republican congressman from Georgia. “They talk one thing but do something different, and that’s become very obvious to the American people.” When asked about his potential role as spoiler, Barr said on Fox News Sunday that, “if [Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.)] wins on November 4th and Sen. McCain and I lose, it will be because he presented a vision and a platform and a candidacy to the American people that resonated with a plurality of...

For it is pursuit of federal dollars and regulatory privileges that has led to the explosive growth of the lobbying complex we call K Street,” explains Barr. After the Republican Party took control of Congress in 1994, the GOP leadership attempted to take control of K Street, forcing the hiring of more Republicans and using the lobbies for partisan advantage. “Now the Democrats, having won control of Congress in 2006, are trying to do the same,” observes Barr. Roll Call reports that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and other Democratic leaders are demanding that K Street accept and work with the new rulers of Capitol Hill.“Unfortunately, the housing legislation ...

Ron Paul supporters organize cash drop for Bob Barr By Wendy Norris 06/27/2008 It was only a matter of time before the warring sides came together to support their presidential candidate. But lest you think Sen. Hillary Clinton's sullen supporters are suddenly unifying with their primary rival and now presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, Sen. Barack Obama, the Libertarians are showing how they wear their big-boy pants. The Ron Paul Revolution fans are organizing a "money bomb" on Wednesday to help the cash-strapped Barr-Root Libertarian ticket. Can the Paulites work their political holiday-inspired magic yet again for Bob Barr, the former Republican congressman from Georgia who helped lead the drive to impeach Bill Clinton who staged a surprise presidential bid for the Libertarian Party nomination? Bob Barr Calls Heller Decision on Gun Rights “One of Court’s Most Important Rulings on behalf of Liberty ”Washington , DC - Today the U.S. Supreme Court upheld the individual right of Americans to own guns in District of Columbia v. Heller.  The ruling “will go down as one of the Supreme Court’s most important rulings on behalf of liberty,” says Libertarian Party presidential candidate Bob Barr. Until today, the Court had never held that the Second Amendment directly applied to individuals. “Today’s decision marks a new era for gun rights in America ,” explains Barr, who is a member of the Board of Directors of the National Rifle Association.  Barr also drafted the Libertarian Party’s amicus curiae brief in Heller.  â€śBy protecting an individual’s right to keep and bear arms, the Second Amendment ensures that all Americans are able to participate in sporting activities, hunt, and protect themselves and their families,” he explains. The rig...

Bob Barr Says U.S. Must Cut United Nations Role and BudgetOn this day in 1945 the U.S. and other countries signed the United Nations Charter.  Unfortunately, “the UN has been an enormous disappointment,” says Libertarian Party presidential candidate Bob Barr.   â€śThe U.S. should push to roll back the UN’s functions and slash America ’s financial contribution.”Expectations for the UN initially were high:  before the signing, President Harry S. Truman said “At no time in history has there been a more important Conference than this one.”  Obviously, “President Truman had no sense of history,” notes Barr.  â€ś America ’s constitutional convention always had a much better claim to that honor.”Nor was President Truman much of a prophet.  â€śThe United Nations has turned out far different than expected,” says Barr.  The budget is bloated. “The UN has become a huge, bloated and costly bureaucracy, constantly seeking ways to ...

Bob Barr on ANWARJune 19, 2008 6:35 pm EST Atlanta, GA -- “The United States has large energy deposits within its own borders and off its shores.” says Bob Barr, the Libertarian Party candidate for president.  “It is time for America to develop those resources to benefit the American people.” The Democratic Party remains a large road block to a better energy future, since it even opposes exploration to determine how much oil and natural gas we have.  “Sen. Barack Obama and his fellow Democrats say they want to promote a prosperous America, but they are committed to keeping us dependent on expensive foreign energy sources,” Barr observes. Unfortunately, Sen. John McCain is little better. He is “a late and uncertain convert to a smarter energy policy,” says Barr.  For years Sen. McCain, like most of his Democratic colleagues, opposed allowing development of the Outer Continental Shelf, thought to contain 86 billion barrels of oil, and the Arctic Nation...
