Kimbo Slice and Bas Rutten Post EliteXC Fight Interview Video
2008-02-18 04:40:00
Kimbo Slice has proved himself to be the real deal once again.  Now that he has yet another pro MMA victory, what does he have to say about the Tank Abbott fight? From a learning experience, he was expecting Tank to come out looking for a take down or throwing a “sloppy left”.  Regarding his next fight, Kimbo’s willing to take on anyone that his trainers will put him up against.  If his trainers don’t want him to take a fight, he says he won’t.  As for Kimbo being “big time” now that he’s had another victory.  He’s just another “squirrel in this big world trying to get a nut”.  Bas Rutten states that Kimbo’s a natural. Bas in not worried about Kimbo rising too fast and facing off with someone out of his league.  Kimbo and his trainers are smart, they know the game, they will take it one step at a time and not get ahead of themselves. Big up to Kimbo for entertaining us once again. YouTube Direktvideo link

Slice v Abbott: I remember reading an article about Kimbo Slice online, which inevitably led to googling his name and realizing that he's one scary looking dude. He has one of those "I-will-headbutt-you-on-princip-le-if-you-look-at-me-for-more-t-han-two-seconds" kind of faces. Even though he's up there in age (33), Slice is the next big thing for Elite, the way Lesnar is in the UFC. They're also incredible athletes who seemingly should've ended up playing football professionally. They both seem to have the right attitudes for success (if you haven't seen it, check out Slice on E:60, can't find a link, sorry). The big difference is in their first "legit" opponents (seeing as both fighters official fights had previously lasted a grand total of 73 seconds). Even though Tank Abbott's style isn't nearlyas dangerous to Slice as Mir's was to Lesnar, their is much more pressure on Slice in this fight. Why? Well, I was going to tell you right now, so calm down asshole! The reas...

Best Damn Sports Show - Bas Rutten and Pat Militech
2007-12-06 20:29:00
As stupid as it sounds, watch the last 1/3 of this clip- this is the 'Best Damn Sports' interview with Bas and Pat plugging the IFL back in 2006, when Bas was still a coach for the LA team.I'm telling you to watch this, because they cover extremely basic movements in MMA, but in that simplicity, they also tell you what to expect from your opponent, and how to take advantage of it, whether it's using the thai clinch to set up a shoot, or how to use an opponent's defensive movements on the ground to pull an armbar. Now, anyone who spars often enough should know these things already, but as for those of you who don't, take the lessons you may learn from this and the rest of my blogging and apply it- I'll say it again- theory works... in theory. As a engineering student, here's the best analogy I've heard that you can relate to this: Physics is to Mathematics as Sex is to Masturbation.Translation: you're not going to be able to apply your theories/realize which of your theories...

Found this on Youtube and thought I would make a good post, people who are new to MMA probably know Bas as a commentator. However, he is one of the true legends of the sport. Most of his fights were in Pancrase here in Japan. He has beaten guys such as Frank Shamrock, Guy Mezger and Kevin Randleman. His record stands at 28-4-1 and his last fight was in July 2006.
IFL ALL ACCESS: The 2007 IFL Finals
2007-09-23 08:19:00
I had the honor to attend last Thursday's IFL 2007 Team Champion Finals in Hollywood, FL. I must say, the IFL has officially earned themselves a new fan.I was once a bit dubious and not willing to accept the whole "team MMA" concept, but after attending what was a solid event with great fights, my thoughts have definitely changed. The IFL 2007 Team Champion Finals included skilled fighters, including: Ben Rothwell, UFC veteran Ricco Rodriguez, Rolles Gracie and many more. The fights of the night would definitely goes to either Ryan McGivern's knockout by a ferocious uppercut over Fabio Leopoldo or Andre Gusmao's vicious knee, which sent Mike Ciesnolevicz seeing stars on the canvas. This doesn't dismiss the other remarkable fights that were included on the card that night. The night kicked off with a beautiful arm-triangle followed by rear naked chokes, and spectacular arm bars.Another fight worth mentioning is UFC veteran Ricco Rodriguez's fight, where he faced off against Ben Ro...

Bas Rutten Says Kimbo is a Great Fighter
2007-06-14 18:48:00
Bas has respect for Kimbo. Bas Rutten, posting at the Sherdog Forums, says Kimbo is one of the hardest-working fighters he's seen: OK guys, I have to say something here.I am training Kimbo right now, and I have to say that he is one of the BEST fighters I have EVER trained. He really listens to you and does what you say, do you know how hard that it? If he's dead tired, and I tell him five more rounds, he looks at me, but doesn't say anything, he just does it. I entroduced him to the Bas Rutten MMA workout, he was SO tired, he told me that he has never been as tired. Today I was teaching him again, he asked me in the beginning "Are we ging to do the Bas Rutten workout?" But he said it in a crazy way, so I asked him "Do you want to do it?". He said "Please, yes!" I asked him why, because all my PROFESSIONAL fighters don't want to do it.He said "Bas, I want to conquer this thing, I want to do it!" Man, he gets, Lots, and losts of respect! All the shit that people write about him,...
