"Tip of the Week" - AceProject takes on Basecamp and Wins
2008-02-03 13:26:00
Progressive solos and brand new solos who are taking the concept of a paperless office seriously have been learning about, transitioning to, or starting from the beginning with web-based management software.  The name you will hear, at least the name I've been hearing most, is Basecamp. Well there is a new kid on the block (actually been around a while but has become much more user friendly) and that kid is AceProject.  And if you are familiar with some of the big boys, Wrike, OnStage, and @Task, web-based management software used by very large businesses, they all seem to be recommending AceProject over Basecamp for smaller businesses. And for those who don't know the benefits of web-based management software in a law practice it gives you: flexibilty and security of not having paper files, allows you to create and share projects on line (securely), clients can have 24/7 password protected access to their files eliminating those telephone calls such as 'just wan...
Create invoices from Basecamp projects
2008-02-03 12:39:00
If you manage your tasks from Basecamp and track the time you work you will find Simply Invoices and elegant solution to create invoices for your clients. It will enable you to create simple, but stylish invoices, generated automatically from Basecamp info. That’s about all there is to this app, but the ability to create invoices and export them to pdf so fast is a huge asset, you can use your time in more productive ways than spending hours on invoicing. A great feature is inline editing, which means that once the data is imported and the invoice is created, you can still edit the entries, and you can also create new entries. This is a great feature if you keep track of some non-billable items on your Basecamp list. You want to see them for your own purposes, but you can’t put them on the invoice, so being able to just delete them right off the invoice is a great help. Simply invoices is a pay-for service with a free option. This should be enough for basic use for an...

bcToolkit - Advanced tools for Basecamp users
2007-05-18 22:52:00
I've been busy over the past week preparing a new web application.bcToolkit is for companies who use Basecamp for managing projects but who want easy access to high level reports. The application began as a solution to a simple problem. My Managing Director had exported a Basecamp time report and was having trouble sorting and filtering the data in Excel. I had been looking at the Basecamp API documentation and decided to build a web page to create a task/time report for any project in our account. This proved so useful that I started to get requests for other reports - such as a report of everybody's time recorded for each day of a month. We've been using these reports for several months and I thought that there might be other Basecamp users who would appreciate them so I'm tarting up the UI and adding lovely big dollops of AJAX goodness. We are planning to start a limited closed beta in a few weeks time so anybody interested in trying out my latest creation should head over to th...
