Gopher Bassmasters, my club, was the host club this year and ran our annual raffle and raised about $4,300 for local 2nd Harvest Food Bank & 4h-Club. My drew boat 44, my partner was Nick Madison from Golden Hook for day 1. We were greeted by a 3 hour fog delay on day 1.The first area we hit was a stretch of docks, it yielded one 12" fish for me and a nice 2lb fish for Nick out of a patch of reeds. We then hit two weedline areas and I caught a couple more small largemouth. I then hit a few other docks, where i was able to get a nice 3lb largemouth and then another good keeper on weightless ring frys. Another Potential World Record Bass Caught?

I think we will learn more today, but based on early reports, it actually may be a tie for the record and not a new World Record.So here are a few pictures that have surfaced, for fun of comparison, I have also posted a picture of Dotty when she was caught but not hooked legally and weighed 25.1lbs. Bass Opener Outing
2009-05-26 21:13:00 Josh Douglas & I headed out to one of our favorite south metro bass lakes, we were on the water around 7:30am, just after the rain had passed. We also brought along Greg, as he had a camera and were hoping to shoot some video footage of fish catches. We also decided to impose a challenge on ourselves. We had a goal of trying to catch 20lbs plus by 2pm for a 5 fish limit between Josh & I. We did a similar big bag challenge last year!It took us about 20 minutes or so to get in the groove, but once we started catching them, it was pretty steady action for most of the day. We did about 90% of our damage with Lake Fork Ring frys rigged weightless on 4/0 Heavy OWG Super Strong Youvella hooks. I am really starting to dig both the hook up and land ratio with my new Youvella hooks.We actually went through 3 full bags of the Ring Frys in the natural green colors, catching 2-3 fish on average per bait. Pool 2 Bass Fishing....
2009-04-25 07:16:00 Last weekend was busy with birthday parties for my 1 yard old daughter, last night & tonight are all about lawn work and then finally tomorrow, my first real bass fishing trip in my boat. I will probably be up late getting some new line on a few reels, most of them have terribly old line right now, plus i have 3 new reels, so it would be nice to get some line on those and get them broke in.My plan is to get out on Pool 2, learn some of the water for a club tournament i have there in middle of May. I have never been there, so mostly this will be about learning some of the water, but I plan on doing some catching as well. The nice thing is if i find a wad of fish, I can sit there and catch them a bit, because they will likely move before the tournament. Check back for a fishing report Sunday or Monday. They are a great jig, have many advantages and really catch bass! Many people ask me where they can get them and often do not want to order them online. Many of us bass anglers like to touch & feel before we buy, kind of old fashioned in that respect.
