Beginners guide to beading
2008-03-31 12:12:00 Beading is not a difficult task, in fact you can develop more ideas and enhance your creativity by doing it yourself at home. To start with beading, first you have to collect the pearls and the beads that you have to use while making the necklace. You have a wide variety of choices available for you to make an optimized selection. After choosing the pearls and the beads, you will require a string to keep them designed together. You can use a thread, plastic line or a wire for this purpose. Beading wire would be the best option as it has more longevity as compared to the other materials. Then you will need a clasp to fasten your necklace and hold it tightly and firmly in its place. There are beautiful large clasps available that are especially suitable if you are making a bracelet or you want to use the clasp as a centerpiece. The Lobster claw clasps are very popular among the beaders. These clasps are available at a reasonable rate and at the same time they can be fastened easily. T...

Jewellery and Ex-Beading Accessories
2008-01-31 13:09:00 Jewellery and femininity go hand in hand. Whenever and wherever a lady adorns herself with jewellery, there is a hint of a smile and a glint in her eyes. This is so because every piece of jewellery she wears makes her feel good and beautiful. And this shine and glint in her eyes and in her smile is well captured and reflected in the beads of her ear pieces, in the pendant on her cleavage, in the

Beading History
2007-12-17 07:43:00 Yes, it's time for another exciting round of the Saatchi Gallery Showdown! If you're a new reader, the Saatchi Gallery is a gallery for contemporary art. It was opened by Charles Saatchi in 1985 to show his collection to the public. When it first opened, it ran a series of exhibitions of many American artists, including Andy Warhol. The gallery has been a major influence on art in Britain since its opening. Many artists shown at the gallery are unknown to the general public, and showing at the gallery has provided a springboard to launch their careers. The Saatchi Showdown is a great opportunity for artists to spotlight their works to a very wide audience. This week, I have entered my latest piece, History Repeated, which features a beaded replica of the Banksy pink car. Finalists go head-to-head for a chance to have one of their pieces displayed at the new Saatchi Gallery in London when it opens next year. Voting opens today at 9am Greenwich Mean Time, and it runs all week. Who kno...

Beading a new watch
2007-12-13 08:12:00 ?? bought me a Pop Swatch when I was pregnant with ??. I was crazy about crystal then and bought a bag of Onyx and Quartz too to go with the watch.I beaded a elastic crystal band for the watch. I like how it looked like a bracelet when the watch is turned inwards (that's where all the scratches come from) and whenever I get bored with the design, I re-bead again. *wink*This is the latest design I did recently. I'm not sure if I'll do it again (soon) because it's tiring to think and plan a design. And it's worst when 'someone' keep nagging at you to not to waste time. *stick out tongue*In the meantime, this is here to stay.
How To Make Christmas Stars
2007-12-11 23:50:00 I know I promised the instructions quite a while back, but have not had the opportunity to make more of these until this past weekend. It's not the prettiest star, but you can use your favorite beads and be really creative with these! Click here to view all the Christmas stars I have made so far. Here is the "How To":Thread 3 x 20cm lengths of wire through a 3 or 4mm bead. Whichever has a big enough hole, they vary according to the beads you have.Place the combination, with the wires horizontally, on the table in front of you as shown. Bend one wire from the right side of the bead down and to the left of the bead Bend another wire from the right side up and to the left of the bead.Do the same with 2 wires on the left side, bending them to the right.Twist the 2 wires on each side of the bead so that they are in a fixed position and don't fall out of the bead anymore.Prepare all the beads and tools you will need.Assorted beadsWire cutting pliersPliers for bending wireStart threading ...

Beading in Mono
2007-12-09 16:32:00 I'm sure the image below just looks like a beaded rectangle to some, but it's actually a bead- embroidered vintage Bang & Olufsen stereo. This is just a small part of what will eventually be my first beaded pop art self-portrait. Also, you may notice that I used different beads than the ones shown in my last post -size 8 matte black seed beads, and some iridescent twisted bugle beads. I want my stereo system to look different than the chair in my drawing. And, I say stereo, but today I'm listening in mono. Chuck Berry's 'Run Run Rudolph' is just a little example that proves the best recordings sound great coming out of any speaker.I bet my little piece of beadwork looks like a stereo now... :)

Busy. Not Beading.
2007-07-19 18:27:00 Okay. I have not been feeling like myself lately. Work has been quite busy the last couple of days and I haven't had time to work on finishing my blue British beaded bus. Not to mention, I haven't done any beadwork in several days, either. I think I'll consider this a break while I'm thinking about what to bead next... Wait 'til you see what it is... :)In the meantime, here are just a few questions in regards to any of the visual, performing, or literary arts: Do you ever feel out of sorts when you do not have time to write, play music, or create art? What is the longest period of time that you have gone without creating art, and why??Who or what inspired you to overcome your creative dry-spell?And, if you're in this state right now, stop it. It's not good for you.

Easy Jewelery Beading
2007-01-22 13:19:00 Jewelery plays a special part in my life and those who love jewelery. In our lives, especially the women, we have a favorite piece of jewlery lying somewhere in the safe, cabinet, or drawer; but have we took a moment to recall where it came from: someone given it to you or someone made it for you. Each piece of jewlery has a story to tell and each carries a sentimental value either giving a sense of pride of owning it or relieving our times to feel special.Yes, that piece of jewlery makes you feel special. But that speical feeling can be created by you to someone special in a form of a much-loved gift. You can create beaded jewlery yoursel just like the pros.

I have been bitten by the beading bug!
2007-01-21 23:18:00 I'm enjoying this so much, I'm now selling them on Etsy. I can make custom ones on demand, and these are the ones I currently have listed: I didn't see a whole lot of stitch markers anywhere that had charms attached, so I decided to fill a need! LOL And I went a bit lower on price than a lot of seen on there; they are only six dollars for four. I've seen some that were ten or twelve dollars for two, so I think these are a decent price.Yes, I am still knitting. I made this for a *certain* partner in crime, pretty much in the exact same color, too, and am still working on Mark's sweater. Have a good Sunday evening everyone! :)
