Toronto based Hip-Hop band Tiny Danza are getting ready to release their debut album You Could Have It All --which will be released on June 14th--and have released the first single off their LP titled Beat Fly.A high-tempo beat and infectious rhymes is what you'll hear in the track, but their themes are serious. Cain: 'We Have to Beat Romney's Money, Not Romney'
2011-06-05 22:52:00
-By Warner Todd Huston Herman Cain has been known to say that he doesn't need a campaign warchest with tens of millions of dollars in it to beat the Republican field for the GOP nomination for president. He says all he needs is a good message to win. However, this week Cain did acknowledge that Mitt Romney's huge campaign warchest and his well-known ability to raise funds is an advantage that will factor into beating Mitt. ...Cain has another disadvantage compared to Romney, one that neither he nor anyone else is recognizing: organization.... Houston's Bats a Problem As Astros Score Six in 9th to Beat Cubs
2011-06-01 07:43:00
Darwin Barney (Pam Rodriguez/NSSOM)Through the first seven and a half innings of Tuesday's tilt between the Cubs and Astros, nothing seemed to be happening offensively for either club. The Astros had scored only one run on a solo shot from Brett Wallace, and the Cubs had wasted several opportunities to score, including two lead-off doubles. It looked as though the game would come down to whichever team could hold the opposing offense at bay the longest, but no one could have imagined the insanity that awaited fans in the last inning and a half of the contest. The Cubs got the action started in the bottom of the eighth with their third lead-off double of the night, as Geovany Soto finally...

Can the Cubs beat the Red Sox?
2011-05-20 22:04:00
Historic series! 1918! Can you believe how long ago that was? That was so long ago!Who cares, it's 2011 and the Red Sox are way better than the Cubs. But that doesn't necessarily mean the North Siders are about to be swept.Having said that, tonight looks like a sure loss. Jon Lester is probably better than any pitcher the Cubs have faced so far this season, and Doug Davis is probably just as bad as any starter the Red Sox have faced. The one thing working in Chicago's favor is that Lester is a lefty, and most of the Cubs halfway-decent hitters are righties. I could see Soriano hitting a liner off the Green Monster down 6-0 in the 7th...

The Chicago Bulls Will Beat the Miami Heat: Here's How
2011-05-13 05:09:00
The Chicago Bulls blew out the Atlanta Hawks on Thursday night, advancing to the Conference Finals for the first time since the-man-whose-middle-name-is-Je-ffrey was playing shooting guard. They'll face the Miami Heat in the next series, and the Bulls will win that series as well. Here is why....

7 Stadiums in 11 Days.... Beat That
2011-04-30 03:51:00
Part 1. (US Cellular, Busch Stadium, and Great American BallPark).Over the course of the last eleven days, I successfully made my way across the Midwest and parts of Canada to become one with baseball.  I visited seven stadiums (including US Celluar Field, where my journey began) drove thousands of miles and didn't leave any stadium without sampling their hotdogs. I know most of you only care about playoff hockey and the NFL draft, but maybe you can take a few minutes to read my first analysis on the ball parks (second blog coming later). As stated earlier, I began my soul searching in my home: US Cellular Field.  It was an amazing start to the trip because it was a beautiful day...

Zambrano Shines As Cubs Overcome Bitter Cold to Beat San Diego 1-0
2011-04-19 09:31:00
On a night that felt better suited to a Bears game than a baseball game, the Chicago Cubs' bats remained dormant for much of the evening. There were a couple of hard hit balls by Carlos Pena and one by Aramis Ramirez, but for the most part, no one seemed to be able to get on base and get across the plate. Fortunately for the bundled up masses, Tyler Colvin stepped to the plate in the 10th inning and laced a double down the right field line and scored Geovany Soto to get the Cubs a 1-0 victory. Before that rare bit of offense took place, the fans that braved the frigid temperatures were treated to an excellent pitcher's duel. Padres...
Listen to your beat.
2011-04-17 21:32:00
So I got really sick again with upper respiratory crap on Thursday, the first time in 13 months since I've been hit hard, but just as quickly as it came it is starting to leave... tata!  I can't afford to be sick for 2 weeks in a row much less want to, so I buckled down, listened to my body, went to the CVS Minute Clinic, got the antibiotics and started the healing process ASAP. And...it's working. THANK THE LORD. I have to attribute its moving along to staying on course in the overall goals for the lifestyle change. Starting this a little over 2 years ago, I was sick and tired of being sick and tired with one upper...

City Beat The 10-Men Of United At Wembley
2011-04-16 20:19:00
Manchester City will play either Stoke or Bolton in the final of the FA Cup after beating Manchester United 1-0 at Wembley. Teams: Man United starting XI- Van der Sar, O'Shea, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra, Park, Scholes, Carrick, Valencia, Berbatov and Nani. Subs- Kuszczak, Owen, Fabio, Smalling, Anderson, Hernandez and Gibson. Man City starting XI- Hart, Zabaleta, Kompany, Lescott, Kolarov, De Jong, Barry, A Johnson, Yaya Toure, Silva and Balotelli. Subs- Taylor, Boyata, Vieira, Milner, Shaun Wright-Phillips, Dzeko and Jo. The Game: Man United started off the better side at Wembley, with Dimitar Berbatov having two fantastic chances in the opening few minutes. Ji-Sung Park put Berbatov through on goal but Joe Hart came out and blocked the Bulgarian's shot. Second later, Nani picked up the ball from a throw-in, he turned and his cross across goal was hit over the bar by Berbatov from two yards out. United continued to attack City's goal, Michael Carrick had an effort from...
Bulls Beat #185 - #1 Seed

It wasn't pretty, but Bulls beat Suns
2011-04-06 04:37:00
The Bulls beat the Suns while the Spurs beat the Hawks, so if the two teams finished tied, the homecourt will be based on random draw.   The Bulls built a huge lead largely behind the play of their bench in the second quarter and the starters in the early third. At this point, down by around 20 points, you kinda figured the Suns would go away.   They've got nothing to play for, Aaron Brooks is on the court while Steve Nash rests, and the game looks like it's on it's way to blowoutville....
Bulls Beat #184 - Seeds, MVPs, and playoffs
2011-04-03 15:29:00
Bulls Beat #184 - Seeds, MVPs, and playoffs The Chicago Bulls appear to have locked up the #1 seed witha magic number of four and only six games to play. Now the only question is whether they can catch the Spurs and stay ahead of the Lakers for home court in the finals. However, they still have a couple of problems that might trip them up in the playoffs. Derrick Rose looks like your MVP, but can he hold off a late charge from Kobe Bryant. I also discuss why John Hollinger's argument for Dwight Howard really isn't all that sound....
Bulls come from behind to beat the Bucks
2011-03-27 04:56:00
The Bulls were down at 15 points in the middle of the third quarter, and you know what, I bet Bucks fans never once thought "we got this".   I bet Bulls fans also never thought "man we're going to lose this".  Three minutes to go, Bulls down by four.  83-87.    The Bucks don't score again.   Derrick Rose scores eight and has two assists in the final three minutes to account for all 12 of the Bulls points.   Bulls win by eight.   Their first lead of the game was at 89-87....
Bulls crush Kings as Celtics beat Knicks
2011-03-22 15:12:00
Am I a bad Bulls fan?   I watched more of the Celtics / Knicks game rooting for the Celtics to lose than the Bulls game which was decided pretty much when Derrick Rose showed up at the UC avoiding a car wreck on route to the stadium. I did catch the highlights, and wow, some awesome highlights.  Rose threw down a few dunks, and Asik decided to steam roll the Kings at the end....

Centralia holds on to beat North Chicago in 3A semifinal
2011-03-19 00:16:00
Centralia High came from a 1st quarter deficit to gain the lead, holding out against an eight point push that nearly toppled them, to continue to the IHSA 3A finals today in action at the Carver Arena in Peoria.North Chicago gained an 18-14 lead in the first quarter behind excellent shooting. But the Downstate team came back strong, gaining a five point lead at the half.North Chicago Head Coach Gerald Coleman asked about his decision to hold the ball in the first half said, "I was trying to bring them (Centralia) out in a man-to-man defense. I felt we were much quicker than they were and I thought if I ran off maybe a minute or minute and a half their...

Bulls Beat #181 - #1 seed in the East
2011-03-13 19:54:00
Bulls Beat #181 - Tied for the #1 seed The Chicago Bulls are tied in the standings for the #1 seed in the East, though it's not quite as rosy as it sounds. Derrick Rose continues on his quest for MVP, I discuss the Bulls going cheap on coaches still as New Orleans apparently offered more money for Tom Thibodeau than Chicago was willing to offer, and I discuss why I'd go with Taj Gibson at the end of games....
Bears CEO Remains "Up Beat" Despite The Labor Dispute
2011-03-13 00:35:00
Today the Tribune reported that Chicago Bears CEO Ted Phillips remains "optimistic" that we will have football in 2011 despite the current "lock-out" situation.  What I also found "refreshing" was Phillips continual commitment to bringing a "championship" back to The Windy City very very soon (see article).Yes Bear Fans, these are very "trying" times (to say the least), but I have to give Phillips some "dap" for maintaining his focus on what we Bear Fans want the most, and that is to "de-throne" those "God-forsaken cheese-heads".  Phillips must be well aware of how us fans feel right now since GB took our trophy, and stunk-up the rest of the country (with Limburger) since their Super Bowl victory.  Luckily, Bill and...
Hawks the team to beat in the West?
2011-03-08 20:31:00
Tim Sassone's latest questions whether the Blackhawks are peaking at just the right time. Maybe even peaking enough to be the team to beat in the Western Confrence? The Versus expert panel was also asking the question Monday night. The Hawks still can't afford another slump or they could be back in danger of being on the playoff bubble, but all signs are pointing to another great playoff run.The Canucks are not a super team, and neither is Detroit or San Jose. The Hawks have the personnel to beat any club in the league. The Hawks still have their issues, of course. They have trouble protecting leads and killing penalties, plus they need to stay healthy on defense. But the Hawks...
Song Of The Day - "The Beat Goes On" by Gabor Szabo
2011-03-06 07:48:00
by Eric Berman Song Of the Day - "The Beat Goes On" by Gabor Szabo from the album "The Sorcerer" Hungarian born Gabor Szabo was one of the first jazz guitarists of the 1960s to tap into the rock repertoire of the day.  Szabo's trademark fluid style of jamming is in full bloom on this funky 1966 jazz-raga rendition of Sonny Bono's classic hit. Szabo introduced the song "Gypsy Queen" to Carlos Santana who had a big hit with it in 1970.  ...

Song for the Afternoon - Save It For Later - The English Beat
2011-03-05 00:12:00
I'm working on the "E's" for the Internet Radio project, and having added several songs from the Birmingham, England's The English Beat, also known as The Beat across the big pond. I've had this tune stuck in my head all afternoon. This ska band had three great records from 1980 - 1982.  This song comes from the last studio album "Special Beat Service."...

Bulls Beat #179 - Standing pat The Bulls stood pat at the trade deadline, but one of the players covetted by other GMs, Omer Asik, directly helped the Bulls Beat the Heat. The tall kid on Fresh Beat Band is HOT!
2011-02-26 00:40:00
What? I'm surviving on three broken hours of sleep a day and using Nick Jr. as a babysitter while I nurse, keep the living room from becoming a smoking crater and dissuade my toddler from poking holes in her sister's face. (That doctor kit Santa brought that includes a hammer? Not a brilliant idea in hindsight.) So my mind wanders. Today it's wandering over to Twist on the Fresh Beat Band. If you're not familiar, he's the tall drink of goofy who beat boxes with three other teenagers* every afternoon on channel 120. Sure, his cro-magnun brow bone could lift a truck but the eye candy on Nick Jr. is slim pickins. Twist wins the sessy award by default. The annoying award...
Bulls Beat #178 - K.C. Johnson Interview
2011-02-23 07:42:00
Bulls Beat #178 - K.C. Johnson interview I discuss everything Bulls with K.C. Johnson, from trade deadline action, the MVP vote, how the Bulls stack up against elite competition and just how good Derrick Rose is. Unfortunately, my mic stopped recording mid interview, so I had to re-record my parts to the interview, so excuse a little bit of occasional choppiness. K.C. gave some great answers though and really surprised me with a few of his views....
Apps Beat Web Browsing On Mobile Devices?
2011-02-22 08:30:00
As long as I’ve been using the web on various mobile devices, I’ve always found my usage heavily biased towards using apps. Right from Windows Mobile 6.1 (yes, they do have apps) to iOS, it has been about various apps. Why? It’s just more convenient/faster. When you need the web on-the-go, its almost always for a very specific purpose, and thanks to the ‘wonderful’ gprs/edge speeds we get, firing up Google and jumping from link to link isn’t always an option. At the recently held Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Zokem – a company that provides mobile analytics – published a study on patterns in Mobile Usage. Now here’s the thing, it comprised of 2,200 smartphone owners and was restricted to the US and UK – so we’ll probably take the findings with a pinch of salt. Usage patterns for studied for the month of January 2011. Messaging related services – which included emails, text messages, multimedia messages, i...

Bulls finally beat the Bobcats
2011-02-16 12:47:00
Derrick Rose threw out terms like 'revenge' and 'easy game' when before tip off.   Even with the extra blackboard material, the Bulls rolled over the Bobcats while playing fairly poor basketball most of the night.  I like the term 'easy game' more than revenge in this case as you can't really avenge an embarrassing loss as you still have that embarrassing loss on your record.  The Bobcats made their run at the Bulls a couple of times.  They closed out a lead in the second quarter before falling behind again at the half.   They tied the game up again in the mid third, but immediately fell behind again and entered the fourth with a big deficit.   The Bulls didn't smite...
