Robin Gibb to Do First British Solo Concert for WWII Vets
2008-06-02 00:33:00 Robin Gibb will perform his first-ever solo gig in Britain in July to support the building of a memorial to the 55,000 men from the British Royal Air Force Bomber Command who died during World War II.Gibb says that the way these forgotten heroes have been treated by their country is a "disgrace." ?This is a subject I have felt quite passionate about for a long time.?I have always regarded the men who flew the bombers as heroic characters and it seems just incredible that, 63 years after the war, there is still no official memorial to commemorate their achievement.?The men that died and those who still survive brought peace and democracy to the whole of Europe. Millions of us owe a great deal to them and we should all be proud of what they achieved.?The memorial, which will be a major site in London, will not be a celebration of war, it will be a sincere gesture of respect for the sacrifice these men made for us. Bee Gees Honored With London Plaque, Say Musical On the Way
2008-05-10 21:04:00 A plaque was placed at 67 Brook Street in the Mayfair section of London to recognize the building where the Bee Gees occasionally wrote music from 1968 to 1980. The building was the former home of producer and manager Robert Stigwood.Robin Gibb was at the unveiling and said "It's a tremendous honour to be acknowledged for doing something we love and a joy to be able to celebrate the unveiling of this marvellous green plaque. This location means a great deal to us and is somewhere we wrote a lot of our songs.It's very special and more so because of losing Maurice in 2003 my twin brother.It's an honour to him because he is no longer with us and because it is bringing up memories.It used to be a hub for meeting up and writing."Gibb also said that a musical based on the songs of the group is being written for the West End and should premier in twelve to sixteen months.

Bee Gees - Living Eyes [1981]
2008-01-20 01:18:00 In terms of hit singles and precise musical vision, it would have been difficult for anyone to have to follow-up the brilliant Spirits Having Flown album, but these industry veterans created a real gem in Living Eyes which seems to have gotten lost in the maze that is their deep catalog. The title track is almost up there with "Spirits Having Flown," which is significant praise, and the song "Paradise" follows suit, pretty and passionate. "Don't Fall in Love With Me" has all three Bee Gees brothers contributing to this ballad with their trademark highly creative hooks. The one downer, unbelievable as it seems, is the hit single "He's a Liar." It just doesn't make it ? odd vocals on a theme which goes nowhere. Nicking the Top 30 in October of 1981, well after "Love You Inside Out," their final (and questionable) number one hit, the tune disrupts their staggering array of wonderful singles. To stay off the charts for two and a half years might have been fallout from the Sgt Pepper ...
