How Much Credit and Creditability is Directly Correlated to How Much Belief
2009-09-20 14:48:00
So this has been agitating me for quite some time. After I read the book EAT, PRAY, LOVE I started out on a research project of sorts and discovered, uncovered, and learned some things about my own spiritual country, America, that I did not like one bit. I learned that Americans would travel to the poorest place on Earth to go see a guru who is as poor as sin dipped in misery. They travelled thousands of miles because they wanted to learn about higher consciousness, God, how to live, how to work, and how to be. For the sake of not sounding like a prude, I'm going to choose Pikeville Kentucky, the poorest county in the United States, as my American counterpart to India's. When I refer to credit and creditability and belief and believability in all things spiritual in America, Pikeville Kentucky is where Americans would never go to find out how to live, how to be closer to God, how to work and how to be....believe me. While I was doing my research and as I looked upon the photogr...

Ebook Secrets - How Selling Ebooks Can Make You Wealthy Beyond Belief From
2009-06-30 12:55:00
eBooks have been a topic for much debate since they were first published. Some people doubt their longevity while others are sure that they are here to stay. One thing is for sure, they have paved the way for many people who have long dreamed of writing a book but have been shot down by traditional publishing. Whether you are in favor or against eBooks one thing is certain, selling eBooks is profitable.Selling eBooks is not reserved only for those who write them. You can also sell eBooks written by other authors. In fact you can do both. You can find a wealth of eBooks to purchase with rights to resale. It is not necessary to have your own website when selling eBooks. Many people believe however, that having your own website to sell eBooks is the most profitable. The alternative to having your own website is selling them on an auction website. Some of the more popular auction sites will actually have tools that will help you download your eBook to your customer. If you write your own ...

My perennial blog hero Michael Spenser has posted on The Unresolved Tensions of Evangelicalism, outlining many of the areas of popular Christianity that I’ve had difficulties resolving my own integrity in: Maintaining an utterly biblical worldview, the necessity of experience as “proof” of faith, Christianity’s piss-poor job in general at creating and fostering life-giving community, ...
Religious Belief and Social Pathology in the USA

According to research published in the Journal of Religion and Society this week, developed countries which are predomiantly secular seem to suffer fewer social ills like murder, suicide and teenage pregnancy.  The apparent bogeyman of the piece is the USA, which, while being the most religious Western society, has rates of murder, incarceration, abortion, syphilis, ...

Do you really have faith, or just belief?
2008-09-26 12:06:00
BeliefYou know something to be true implicitly and believe you already have it. Faith which is based on the hope of something expected but not yet received is not required of you because you already believe yourself to have received it. A person believes that when & by accepting Jesus Christ into their hearts by faith, they are immediately saved. A person can therefore be a believer and not have faith. How can they declare themselves to have faith, when they have already proved that it's unnecessary for them to have it? A person who says they have faith and claims to already be saved, by logical reasoning cannot claim to have faith, but only belief.FaithTo have faith in Jesus Christ means that you believe in him and his promises and reveals that you are WAITING for that something which you hope to receive as promised. If you are a believer who thinks they are already saved without any period of time necessary requiring patience, endurance, or long-suffering, you cannot claim to the...

Albert Einstein: 'belief in God childish'
2008-05-14 06:47:00
There has been a lot of debate over the decades about Albert Einstein's views on religion. Those who hoped to claim Einstein for the God team sometimes made reference to his quotation: "science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind." On the whole however, the great man remained fairly cryptic about where he stood on religious matters - until now that is.An Einstein letter that had been in a private collection for 50 years has gone up for auction in London. The letter leaves no doubt where Einstein stood on matters of a higher power and the status of the Jews as God's "chosen people."He wrote the letter on January 3 1954. It was addressed to the philosopher Eric Gutkind, who had sent Einstein a copy of his book - "Choose Life: The Biblical Call to Revolt."In speaking of God, Einstein was surprisingly direct:"The word god is for me nothing more than the expression and product of human weaknesses, the Bible a collection of honourable, but still primitive legend...

guardian.co.uk: Albert Einstein - A little known letter written by him… Due to be auctioned this week in London after being in a private collection for more than 50 years, the document leaves no doubt that the theoretical physicist was no supporter of religious beliefs, which he regarded as “childish superstitions”. The land given to the Children of Israel as an eternal inheritance.Mr. President, you profess to be a believing and practicing Christian. As part of your original election campaign, you presented that your belief in God saved your life from various negative directions it was headed. You profess to pray daily and to read the Christian bible daily.I ask you, Mr. President, have you edited your bible to remove those sections where God promised the Land of Israel to the Children of Israel? Or, is it all a sham? Do you not really believe that the bible is relevant for today? And if not, why do you pray and attend services? Or do you believe that God is only relevant for your personal needs?Ms. Rice, you are the daughter of a preacher and were raised in a religious environment. You certainly...

Notice of Belief of Abandonment
2008-04-24 19:27:00
I have a tenant who entered into a 6 month lease on 3/17/08. On the first of April, he had pro-rated rent due which is in the lease and I personally explained it to him. Doesn't pay. Call and leave message, go to house several times since its right around the corner from where I live and never see a car there. Send bill in mail with signature confirmation, notice left and never gets picked up from the post office. Post a 3 day notice on door last Friday, again drive by several times and still posted to door. Called every phone number on application, every number I can look up since his mother is in Real Estate and hubby is a broker, nothing. Every phone number including where the mother works have the message "mail box full" So I'm thinking of posting a "Notice of Belief of Abandonment" on the door today along with sticking a copy in the mail to every address on the application. My question is I'm not sure about the rule of rent must be 14 days or more overdue. Since he had...

Freedom Of Speech Might Lead To Freedom Of Belief
2008-04-09 00:31:00
Muhammad Al-Munajid: Some of these heretics say: "Islam is not the private property of anyone." So what do they want? They say: "No sect has a monopoly on Islam." So what do they want? They say: "We want to issue rulings." Someone who is ignorant, who does not know any Arabic, or who has no knowledge of Islamic jurisprudence wants to issue rulings?! They say: "We reinterpret the texts." There is a very dangerous conspiracy against the religion of Islam in newspapers and in what these people say. A journalist, or one of those lowlifes, wants to... These people are a mixture of Western, local, and imported ideologies, but they want to express their views with regard to religious rulings. This is the prerogative of religious scholars, not of ignorant people, the prerogative of knowledgeable people, not of fools or heretics. ... BUY NOWBook DescriptionWhat would it mean to discover that everything from the DNA of life, to the future of our world, is based upon a simple Reality Code?one that we can change and upgrade by choice? New revelations in physics and biology suggest that we?re about to find out! A growing body of scientific evidence suggests that our universe works like a Consciousness Computer. Rather than the number codes of typical software, our Consciousness Computer uses a language that we all have, yet are only beginning to understand. Life?s reality code is based in the language of human emotion and focused belief. Knowing that belief is our reality-maker, the way we think of ourselves and our world is now more important than ever! For us to change the beliefs that have led to war, disease, and the failed careers and relationships of our past we need a reason to see things differently. Our ancestors used miracles to change what they believed. Today we use science. The Spontaneous Healing of Bel...
Myth vs. Logos - Ways of Considering Belief
2008-04-01 10:38:00
I?m nearly finished reading Karen Armstrong?s A Short History of Myth (ISBN 1841956449), in which she makes a statement that fits well with something I said in this post last week regarding the debate between science and religion. Armstrong describes two ?categories? myth and logos. Logos, she says is concern with fact ? observable, measurable, fact. Myth, on the other hand reaches into our inner self and (along with our accompanying actions) transforms our character, our ?person?. That is of course until, due to circumstances such as changes in society, that myth is no longer able to reach us, and inspire. One of the drawbacks of having codified our mythology in writing is the fact that unlike predominately oral societies that allow the mythology to develop - once written our mythology ceases to change.Up until about the time of the Reformation, myth and logos, in western society, were complimentary. Since then logos has overtaken, and indeed is used to undermine myth. Thus, when w...
