Ben Roethlisberger Treats Cleveland Browns Like a 23 Year-Old Waitress from
2010-10-19 06:13:00
"He just barged in to the lunch room and started eating the food he bought. I didn't think anybody else was back there. He locked the door behind him, and I heard Colt's (McCoy) voice. I'm hearing about Colt trying to grab a sandwich and Ben just smacked him and said 'Don't grab my sandwich bi&$@!' When Colt told him he didn't want the sandwich anymore, Ben forced him to eat it. Colt just layed there crying. I tried to break in, but the door was locked. He was gonna kill him!"
Fantasy Football 2010: What to do with Ben Roethlisberger

Should fantasy football owners consider Ben Roethlisberger on draft day? Absolutely, and here's why.
Should the public send a "just stop it" message to Nike?
2010-04-22 19:07:00
Nike is swooshingly gaining a notorious reputation for standing by celebrity athletes who womanize; Ben Roethlisberger and Tiger Woods, to name a few. Should the public continue to buy goods from Nike or send a message loud and clear forcing the sports retailer to become more family-friendly? Tiger Woods has finally come clean, probably because of the buzzing in his ears from sponsors that doing so limits the damages he incurs over time. He still needs to break Jack Nicklaus' records, right? No one has to like Ben Roethlisberger off the field except for, maybe, Missy Peregrym and accused still means innocent until proven guilty. But, with Andrea McNulty also claiming sexual misconduct, Nike should consider putting the brakes on before being forced to do so. Nike does have its limits; cruelty to animals, for example. Michael Vicks was quickly dropped from the Nike roster after pleading guilty to running a dog-fighting ring punishable by prison time. Could this mean that Nike c...
Andrea McNulty Claims Rape By Ben Roethlisberger (PHOTOS)
2009-07-21 14:32:00
A Harrah?s Casino employee in Las Vegas, Andrea McNulty has filed a lawsuit for sexual assault against the Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, who claims to be innocent (read more here). ?Big? Ben Roethlisberger Sued for Sexual Assault
2009-07-21 05:57:00
WTAE in Pittsburgh is reporting that Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has been accused of sexual assault by an employee at Harrah’s Casino in Las Vegas. Harrah’s casino employee Andrea McNulty filed the civil lawsuit last week in Washoe County, Nev., stemming from an alleged incident at a hotel room in July 2008. The Steelers organization is backing ...

Post-Super Bowl Thoughts (and a Hair Story)
2009-02-04 15:50:00
I may have received the quickest haircut in history Tuesday evening. I asked for a trim and the woman basically shaved the back of my neck and shortened my sideburns. She barely touched the rest of my hair. (Naturally, since it is Hair Cuttery, she did have enough time to try and sell me Nioxin, a thickening shampoo.) I?m not sure if I?ve reached the point where I have so little hair that all of my haircuts will only last 4 minutes or if the hairdresser was just lazy. Could I have lost that much hair since my last haircut? If so, the fourth quarter of the Super Bowl may have contributed to hair loss. Here?s a fun hypothetical question: Let?s say that instead of the final Roethlisberger-to-Holmes touchdown, Mewelde Moore had a touchdown run for the winning score. In that case, who would have been the Super Bowl MVP? If your answer is either Ben or Holmes, has there ever been a case where the offensive player won the MVP without scoring a touchdown?Inspired by my interview of...

Steelers-Titans Thoughts
2008-12-22 15:42:00
- Just for a little perspective, over the past four games, the Steelers won at New England, against Dallas and at Baltimore before losing Sunday at a 13-2 Tennessee team. If someone told you before stretch that the Steelers would go 3-1, I think you would be happy. - As for Sunday?s game, way too many turnovers for the Steelers. The Roethlisberger fumble inside the Titans' 5 was crucial. Even if the Steelers get a field goal there, it?s a different game. - What was the unsportsmanlike conduct penalty when the Titans were preparing for a field goal attempt near the end of the third quarter? Who was it against?- Do we have a running game? Stop with the draw/delay plays to Parker. - Cleveland got shut out by the Bengals today as Ryan Fitzpatrick threw only 9 passes and Cedric Benson had 38 rushes for 171 yards. If the Steelers can't run against the Browns next week, we're going to be in trouble in the playoffs.- I think we've been spoiled over the past month or so by all of the t...
Steelers Win AFC North
2008-12-15 15:40:00
As a Steelers fan, it feels great seeing Pittsburgh win the AFC North and earn a first-round playoff bye at the expense of the Ravens, especially in Baltimore. Sunday?s game proves what I have been saying for years: contrary to what many Steelers fans believe, Pittsburgh?s biggest rival is clearly the Baltimore Ravens and not the Cleveland Browns. While it may be mean and a bit of schadenfreude, just looking at the picture below makes me, and I?m sure other Steelers fans, smile. The game itself lived up to the hype as both defenses dominated. Through the first 57 minutes, the Ravens outplayed the Steelers, particularly on special teams and in the defense?s ability to create turnovers. However, when the game was in question, the Steelers led by Ben Roethlisberger, Hines Ward and Nate Washington made big plays and the Ravens defense could not respond.Congratulations to the Steelers for winning the AFC North! The photo is from Jonathan Newton of The Washington Post after Baltimore ...
Steelers-Patriots Recap
2008-12-01 15:10:00
I?m going to do things a little different for this week?s Steelers recap. If you?re looking for detailed analysis about how the Pittsburgh held New England to 10 points and the Patriots offense to 1 of 13 on third down conversions or the punting abilities of Mitch Berger, go somewhere else. May I recommend the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Instead, I want to point out the following real and fictional New England Patriots players who contributed to the Steelers win.The turning point of the game occurred part-way through the third quarter. Leading 13-10 after a Jeff Reed field goal, Matthew "AC" Slater fumbled the kick-off, and the ball was recovered by Keyaron Fox. Two plays later, Ben Roethlisberger hit Hines Ward for an 11-yard touchdown.Maybe this wasn?t noticed by everyone, but Sam "Clay" Aiken had two special teams holding penalties for New England. After another Reed field goal to give the Steelers a 23-10 lead, the Patriots returned the kick-off to midfield. However, Aiken?s hold...
Steelers-Giants Recap
2008-10-27 15:13:00
The Pittsburgh Steelers had a lead late in the fourth quarter at home and lost. Ben Roethlisberger was sacked five times, hit at least another dozen times and threw four interceptions. The team was 1 for 10 on third down, 0 for 4 on fourth down and had 8 penalties for 59 yards, many of them pretty stupid penalties. Plus, the Steelers defense who led the league in sacks coming into the game, failed to register a sack and rarely put pressure on Eli Manning. It was clearly not one of their best games. However, let?s take a step back and put everything into perspective. The Steelers are 5-2 and have a one game lead over Baltimore, who they already defeated, in the AFC North. The 5-2 record is tied for second best in the AFC with New England and Buffalo behind only the undefeated Tennessee Titans. The Steelers are 5-0 against AFC teams, a very important playoff tie-breaker, which along with the Titans, is the best in the conference. Yes, the team has some work to do, but there?s n...
Steelers-Jaguars Recap
2008-10-08 15:17:00
I?ll preface this post by writing that I have no idea what Al Michaels or John Madden said during Sunday night?s Pittsburgh Steelers-Jacksonville Jaguars game. I have not read recaps of the game by Pittsburgh newspapers, national sports websites or the Pittsburgh sports related blogs listed on my links list. The following are my comments, thoughts and pictures from attending the game live. This picture was taken a half hour before game time. Notice the large banner covering two sections on the top left and the Jaguars banner behind the end zone. Apparently, these seats and several other sections throughout the stadium are completely covered during the entire season to help the team avoid blackouts. That would never happen for the Steelers. Oh, Jacksonville has no problem selling these seats for the Florida-Georgia college football game.I really don?t know what to write about these guys. They were loud and somewhat annoying, but overall, pretty cool. Of course, I was not sitti...

Life Without the Internet
2008-03-06 13:31:00
From Monday at 11:00am until Wednesday at 10:00pm, something was missing in my life. That something was internet access. I wasn?t in the remote wilderness; I was in New York City. I even had a computer, although I could not justify paying $17.95 a night for internet access in my hotel room. I even considered paying $8 for internet access at LaGuardia airport (cheers again to Albuquerque Airport for having free wireless internet), but I didn?t think it was worth it. Instead, I had to learn about what was going on in the world through the USA Today and the limited time I had in my hotel room watching TV.Over the last few days, my life has been incomplete. I couldn?t check my e-mail or visit my usual website for news and information including the Post-Gazette, Washington Post, Deadspin and Google Reader. For example, I didn?t know that Sidney Crosby returned to the Penguins until after the game ended. I couldn?t see if people had excellent best man speech ideas for me based on ...

Jaguars v. Steelers: Big Ben Roethlisberger returns to practice.

I was wrong. Ben Returned to practice today, I guess the shoulder just needed a little rest. I was really, REALLY, hoping for some Charlie Batch on Sunday.  I guess we'll just have to beat the Steelers when they're at nearly full strength. -Chris
The Injuries become the Story: Ben Roethlisberger, Marcus Stroud, and othe
2007-12-13 21:07:00
There are a couple of stories out there that deserve a little more attention.  All of these concern the various injuries effecting the Jaguars and the Steelers.  Some of this is speculation, some of this is a thought project, but all of it deserves some consideration. Ben Roethlisberger: Injured and out? I don't do a whole lot of abject speculation here at Big Cat Country.  I don't like to be a rumor-mill when it comes to things like Injuries, simply because there's no way to ever know what exactly is going on with this sort of thing.  No coach tells the truth about their injuries, the reports are basically worthless, and no team is going to admit straight up that one of their key players is struggling because of an injury. That said, I re-watched the Steelers and  New England game on NFL Replay.  You might notice that late in the game the Steelers play calling changed. From that point on, the Steelers give up on the passing game and focus almost ...
Ben Roethlisberger Conspiracy

Ben Roethlisberger, quarterback for the 2006 NFL super bowl champions Pittsburgh Steelers appears to have overcome the effects from his motorcycle crash earlier last year. Steelers-Browns Notes
2007-11-12 15:47:00
I attended Sunday's Steelers-Browns game and here my thoughts from Heinz Field:- In my opinion, Joshua Cribbs has now replaced Eric Metcalf as the scariest Steelers' opponent. Fortunately (or unfortunately), I missed his kickoff return for a TD as I was in the bathroom. - I was shocked (sarcasm added) that a county act performed the national anthem and a song before the game. I generally only attend one Steeler game in Pittsburgh per season, but every game recently has featured a country act. This week's country group that I've never heard of: Lady Antebellum. For country fans that read this, have you ever heard of them? - The Steelers struggled to get a pass rush most of the game, so I think they made a nice adjustment by having more defenders in coverage in the second half. - Since I don't listen to Cleveland talk radio, I wonder if Romeo Crennel is being criticized for his terrible decision late in the game to take a time-out, then challenge Heath Miller's TD catch only to ...
The Amazingly Underrated Ben Roethlisberger
2007-11-05 22:12:00
Tom Brady is throwing 6 TDs in a game and Jon Kitna is going three games without a TD. NFL teams are starting guys named Quinn Gray, Derek Anderson and Sage Rosenfels at quarterback. In a fantasy football world gone mad, where can you turn for a solid, dependable QB? How about good old Ben Roethlisberger? Remember him? He's healthy, confident and while you weren't looking became a very nice fantasy quarterback. Week Opp Pass Yds Pass TDs INTs 1 CLE 161 4 0 2 BUF 242 1 1 3 SF 160 1 0 4 ARI 244 2 2 5 SEA 206 1 0 7 DEN 290 4 2 8 CIN 230 2 1 There are some stinkers in there: 160 pass yards and a touchdown is nothing to brag about. But he has thrown a touchdown in every game this season and in the past 12 games going back to last season. He has 2 four-TD games this season already. He has dependable receivers and one of the league's best running games. Admittedly, these performances have come against some poor teams, but Ro...

Ben Roethlisberger - Dog Gone Good Deed
2007-09-07 00:16:00
I have to say, this is one of my favorite weekends of the year! It is the start of football season. I am a huge Pittsburgh Steelers fan and I just ran across an interesting article. Ben Roethlisberger is donating money in each town he plays in to a police department for the keeping of their k9 patrols. “It’s something we decided to do, my foundation is doing, after the police dog in my hometown got shot and killed. We decided to do it for every away city I play in and every time we play at home - pick a department here in Pittsburgh to donate to,” Roethlisberger said today. I think this is a cool and noble thing to do. Kudos to you Ben! Now go get us some touchdowns!!! Read the rest of the article here Big Ben goes to the dogs for Cleveland
Big Week for Sean?s Ramblings
2007-06-30 16:33:00
Thanks to DC Blogs and Deadspin, there were more visits to this site in the past 2.5 days than there usually are in an entire month. On Thursday, DC Blogs linked to my bus story by writing ?Harry Potter book interrupted by the sight of finger nail cutting woman. Metro bus story at Sean?s Ramblings.? Technically, the nail cutting incident took place on a Fairfax Connector bus, but that?s irrelevant. On Friday, Deadspin linked to my recap of the Argentina-U.S. soccer match. As a comparison of how much Deadspin has grown, they linked to a post I wrote about Ben Roethlisberger attending a Penguins game in January 2006. On that day, I received 78 visits, a personal record at the time for most hits in a day. Yesterday, I received an incredible 848 visits, primarily from Deadspin readers. The total number of visits on Thursday through 10:30am on Saturday = 1036! So thanks again to DC Blogs and Deadspin, and if you have not already visited these sites, I hope that you do (often). H...
