Ben Stein Talks Retirement P 2
2008-06-01 19:16:00 Hi All, This is the second part of Ben Stein's video on retirement. Stein has this wonderful monotone voice that reminds me of his performance in the 1980s flick "Ferris Buellers Day Off". So, every time I watch this video I think about that movie and it cracks me up. That said, I think the video does have some important retirement points so please do check it out. Best, James

Let?s at Least Be Honest About ID
2008-05-24 21:32:00 I found a decently done review of Ben Stein’s idiocy, ‘Expelled’, but the reviewer has swallowed a little bit of the ID Kool-Aid and it happens to be a bit of Kool-Aid that annoys me greatly. Having now watched the film — which is terrible, filled with specious reasoning, false dichotomies, and self-contradiction — I ...
The Brilliance of Ben Stein
2008-05-14 13:39:00 Ben Stein, who starred in and helped write the movie Expelled said this in an interview on Pat Robertson?s 700 Club: Darwinism explains so little. It doesn?t explain how life began. It doesn?t explain how gravity works to keep the planets in their orbits. It doesn?t explain how thermodynamics works. It doesn?t explain how physics or ...
Ben Stein and Glenn Beck: Ignorance, Deceit and Stupidity, OH MY!
2008-05-04 00:00:00 Nothing I say short of quoting them directly could prepare you for the profound levels of ignorance you are about to hear. Stein and Beck's ignorance of and/or deliberate deceit with respect to science, evolution, atheism and morality are absolutely depressing. They are an unfortunate pair of exemplars of the intellectual ...
Ben Stein insists, ?Science leads you to killing people?
2008-05-02 16:41:00 Ben Stein, a former Nixon aide and game-show host, probably best known for his role as a monotone teacher in “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off,” released an anti-evolution documentary recently called, “Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed.” The premise, as I understand it, is that those who reject modern biology struggle professionally in the sciences. Kevin Drum recently saw the movie, and reported back that towards the end, the documentary veered into the insane: “Stein spends the final half hour wandering around Dachau and telling us outright that his real motivation for attacking evolution isn’t any real flaw in the theory, but his belief that Darwinism leads directly to Nazi-ism, eugenics, atheism, the breakdown of morals, and mass slaughter. Can’t have that, so evolution needs to go too.” Regrettably, Kevin wasn’t exaggerating. Stein recently chatted with Paul Crouch, Jr. about his film. Stein: When we just saw that...

Expelled: The Film Sucks!
2008-04-20 05:44:00 Derec, one of the members of the Internet Infidels Discussion Forums, went and saw the movie today and just like what is predicted by people everywhere– the film sucks! Literally! So I went and saw it today. No, I didn’t give Ben Stein any of my money - I bought a ticket to a different movie ...
Ben Stein is Sexpelled: No Intercourse Allowed (Expelled parody)
2008-04-19 00:00:00 The Scienazis are at it again. It wasn't enough for them to suppress the highly tenable and definitely scientific approach that is Intelligent Design (and certainly not Creationism). Now they're suppressing the equally meritorious stork theory of reproduction. Stork theory, a totally viable alternative to the sex theory (which is ...
Ben Stein?s New Anti-Evolution Film Should Be Expelled
2008-04-18 18:54:00 Pop quiz! What’s responsible for atheism, abortion, euthanasia, and the Holocaust? If you answered anything but evolution, I’m incredibly relieved. If evolution did in fact pop into your head, you’ll probably be first in line for Ben Stein’s new documentary: Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed Using the same tactics as Big Tobacco and Global Warming skeptics, the ...

Exposing The Tactics: Ben Stein & The Producers of Expelled!
2008-03-29 21:32:00 For some reason, this site seems to be read by a lot Christians. Perhaps it is because I used to be a minister; or possibly it is my many references to the Bible. Who knows why? My last post, which was simply my notes from the Expelled press conference (Here), generated quite a bit of email from believers. Many of which believe there are two equally scientific sides in the Evolution/Creation debate. I would like to bring attention to all (believers and nonbelievers alike), four deceptive tactics being used to promote the movie, Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed. Inoculated from these, you will be equipped to examine the evidence and make an informed decision. 1. Note the “talking head” double standard. The hypocrisy of the righteous right’s pundits (Limbaugh, Hannity, Beck and O’Reilly) is blatant. They have all spoke about the glories of this movie. However, they dismissed and discredited Fahrenheit 9/11 and SICKo in their entirety because of Michael Moore’s inequi...

Ben Stein Still Needs A Conscience
2008-03-05 00:00:00 Time for a comment in response to the latest pro-business hosannas from one of our most visible conservative media shills (from this NYT column Sunday, where Stein basically tells both Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton to stop beating up poor ExxonMobil and, presumably, ?embrace their inner capitalist?)?First, ExxonMobil, like all the other gigantic integrated energy companies in this country, is owned not by a cabal of reactionary businessmen holding clandestine meetings in a lodge in the Texas scrublands (as Oliver Stone so brilliantly illustrated in ?Nixon?).ExxonMobil, in fact, is owned mostly by ordinary Americans. Mutual funds, index funds and pension funds (including union pension funds) own about 52 percent of ExxonMobil?s shares. Individual shareholders, about two million or so, own almost all the rest. The pooh-bahs who run Exxon own less than 1 percent of the company. When ExxonMobil earns almost $12 billion in a quarter, or $41 billion in a year, as it did in 2007, that mo...
The troubles of debating Creationists
2008-03-03 15:53:00 Steven Novella of NeuroLogica has written an incisive analysis of PR strategies that are apparently being employed by Creationists, particularly when it comes to debating evolution and Creationism. I highly recommend reading his analysis, which I present below.Novella writes: Yesterday I interviewed PZ Myers, author of the popular science blog Pharyngula, for this week?s SGU podcast, ...

Creationist Ben Stein on "Big Science"
2008-01-21 16:32:00 For anyone who can stomach it, here is creationist Ben Stein explaining how "Big Science" is killing the 1st Amendment in the United States. And as a former political speech-writer turned actor, he's of course an authority on science. This would be strictly for comic relief if it weren't simultaneously so tragic because of the very real danger that knuckle-dragging troglodytes of the Stein variety pose to the future of science education and scientific research in America. Here's a very good resource for anyone interested in what science and evolution is really about, instead of all the creationist propaganda.

My Confession by Ben Stein
2007-12-30 04:36:00 Snopes.com call this forwarded mail a phoney but whether it's real or not, it is a worthwhile read. Father Mario Sobrejuanite used it on one of his homilies. It really delivers a provocative message regarding our relationship with God and its effect on our society. "My Confession: I am a Jew, and every single one of my ancestors was Jewish. And it does not bother me even a little bit when people call those beautiful lit up, bejeweled trees Christmas trees. I don't feel threatened. I don't feel discriminated against. That's what they are: Christmas trees. It doesn't bother me a bit when people say, 'Merry Christmas' to me. I don't think they are slighting me or getting ready to put me in a ghetto. In fact, I kind of like it. It shows that we are all brothers and sisters celebrating this happy time of year. It doesn't bother me at all that there is a manger scene on display at a key intersection near my beach house in Malibu. If people want a creche, it's just as fine with...
An Article by Ben Stein
2007-12-23 02:56:00 The following was written by Ben Stein and recited by him on CBS Sunday Morning Commentary. My confession: I am a Jew, and every single one of my ancestors was Jewish. And it does not bother me even a little bit when people call those beautiful lit up, bejeweled trees Christmas trees. I don't feel threatened. I don't feel discriminated against. That's what they are: Christmas trees. It doesn't bother me a bit when people say, "Merry Christmas" to me. I don't think they are slighting me or getting ready to put me in a ghetto. In fact, I kind of like it. It shows that we are all brothers and sisters celebrating this happy time of year. It doesn't bother me at all that there is a manger scene on display at a key intersection near my beach house in Malibu . If people want a creche, it's just as fine with me as is the Menorah a few hundred yards away. I don't like getting pushed around for being a Jew, and I don't think Christians like getting pushed around for being Christians...
Ben Stein Shows No Intelligence
2007-12-10 20:34:00 For those who've not had the pleasure of learning that Ben Stein has completely lost his mind, I recommend having a look at the website for his new film. I wish it was fiction. Succinctly, the film is an outcry that the hegemony of Darwinian evolutionary thought has lasted too long. Definitely worth mentioning is Stein's own blog, found on the film's website, which contains his ramblings about

Here's a first - Ben Stein publicly apologizes to Peter Schiff
2007-12-10 18:33:00 Now if "The Biggest Idiot in the Room" Mike Norman would do the same. And then David Lereah. And then Greg Swann. And then Lawrence Yun. And then Nicholas Retsinas. And then Catherine Reagor. And then Angelo Mozilo. And then Bob Toll. And then Kendra Todd. And then Neil Cavuto. And then Larry Kudlow. And then every other REIC cheerleader who ignored the truth, and lied and spun (or simply made an ignorant mistake) these past few years would apologize to Schiff and to HP'ers and to America.I'm not holding my breath.I've gotta say though, cheers to Ben Stein. Very classy move. You're OK by me. Thanks Ty for the link...Next, here?s a lesson I learned in a 12-step program and should have learned better: avoid contempt prior to investigation. When the financial stock meltdown started, I was on a television show with Peter Schiff of Euro Pacific Capital, who warned that Merrill Lynch could be in very bad shape. I glibly said that I thought that its problems were limited and...

Here's a video from August where Ben Stein and The Fridge give some horrifi
2007-11-07 22:51:00 Ben Stein does a fine job of ending his career in this August 18 video where he recommends financial stocks right before they got destroyed. But just in case, Peter Schiff is there to stick the knife in and twist. And an added bonus - watch William The Fridge Perry say that foreign stocks and the Euro were overvalued (remember - this is from August). And we all know what happened since then. He also calls Schiff anti-American for recommending foreign stocks. Now that, in addition to being uninformed, ignorant and pathetic, well that is just shameful. But I didn't know The Fridge was a financial advisor now, did you?Bottom line - Fox and other channels are full of idiots who have no idea what they're talking about. F*ck 'em all. And listen to Schiff.

Ben Stein talks about investments
2007-10-05 21:33:00 Kamil Skawinski Most of us remember Ben Stein from the hit 1986 John Hughes comedy, "Ferris Bueller's Day Off," where he gave that inimitable performance as the ever-droning high school teacher who labored to explain intellectually challenging economic concepts such as "voodoo economics" to a group of thoroughly disinterested teens. Win Ben Stein A Conscience
2007-10-05 18:02:00 As most people living in this locality know by now, the Bucks County Courier Times, on occasion, does feature enlightened commentary on its editorial page from people such as Gene Lyons, Marie Cocco, Paul Campos, and others of a liberal/Democratic/progressive- persuasion. However, much more often than not, it is home to a seemingly endless parade of self-righteous freeper pundits who are only too happy to scold others whose only offense is to live lives or engage in a particular thought or behavior deemed repugnant by someone who has been granted column space.I know it is pointless to answer these people and counterproductive ultimately. I don?t have any raw numbers on this, but I would guess that the audience that actually thinks these right-wing egotists know what they?re talking about is shrinking by the minute. However, I sometimes find their behavior too offensive to ignore. And today is one of those times.Apparently, Ben Stein, the sometimes actor, wannabe comedian and full-time...
News & Current Events :: Ben Stein to Battle Darwin in Major Film
2007-10-03 12:15:00 Author: Eric Subject: Ben Stein to Battle Darwin in Major FilmPosted: Wed Oct 03, 2007 6:15 am (GMT -4) Ben Stein to Battle Darwin in Major Film Actor-commentator stars in 'Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed' Ben Stein, the lovable, monotone teacher from "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" and "The Wonder Years" is back in the classroom in a major motion picture release slated for February 2008. But this time, the actor will be on the big screen asking one of life's biggest questions: "Were we designed, or are we simply the end result of an ancient mud puddle struck by lightning?" That's right. Evolution and the explosive debate over its virtual monopoly on America's public school classrooms is the focus of the film "Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed." In the movie, Stein, who is also a lawyer, economist, former presidential speechwriter, author and social commentator, is stunned by what he discovers an elitist scientific es...

Expelled: New Ben Stein Movie
2007-08-29 20:01:00 There's a new Ben Stein Movie out called, "Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed." It's exposes the thought police in "BIG SCIENCE" and American public schools. The movie shows how schools police thought by teaching the THEORY of no-Creator evolution as if it is absolute fact. And if you dare question it or have thoughts about an alternative then you are a trouble maker.I don't mind no-Creator evolution being taught in schools as long as it is taught as a conceived possibility and NOT as fact because, afterall, it is still a THEORY. And I think that the alternative theory of intelligent design should be taught as well because science should be about looking at all the information and making up your own mind, right? I mean, what are they afraid of? If life started from absolute nothingness with no higher power than we can look at both theories and see that, right?I know why some scientists don't want kids to see another possibility--because scientists left and right are jumping off t...
The fall of Ben Stein [Respectful Insolence]
2007-08-23 11:01:00 You know, even though I know he’s been a Republican talker for a long time, that he worked for the Nixon administration as a speechwriter and lawyer, I’ve always kind of liked Ben Stein. My wife and I used to like to watch Win Ben Stein’s Money, and he was quite amusing as the principal in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. He’s always come across as a pleasant doofus, even though I know that image appears to be carefully calculated one. Now I learn that he’s the narrator and a driving force behind a pro-”intelligent design” movie called Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed, which is due to be released in February. It looks really, really bad. Ben Stein: The Sky is NOT Falling!
2007-08-23 00:00:00 There is a lot of talk about how the sub-prime mortgage industry is wreaking havoc on the global economy. Ill have to admit that Im not econo-geeky enough to understand how the T-Bonds are connected to the LIBOR-bone, and the LIBOR-bone is connected to the Yeild Curve-bone, or any of the other tangled, intricate web of how the lending industry is interrelated. But I do get that when 20% of the buyers are no longer able to obtain loans, its a serious impact on the supply and demand equation. But my view is quite myopic, focusing on how the mortgage lending industry is going to affect the housing industry and most specifically the real estate investor. I do, however, have an interest in
Not Having The Correct American Money Experience.....Ben Stein Will Set You
2007-08-21 17:02:00 Far be it for me to say "I noticed".I am an avid Sunday Morning with Charles Osgood on CBS at 9 a.m devotee. I have been since the Charles Kuralt days...I loved his "On the Road" series. I loved his book. I liked everything about him and the show. This past Sunday I noticed a little quirky editorial that didn't seem in keeping with the Sunday Morning lineup. It was Ben Stein spouting off in his true Ben Stein monotone voice a few choice opinionated words about the current stock market meltdown we find ourselves in. Ben reassured everyone that this current debacle..... "this too shall pass" mindnumbing credit bastardization of the system was not as dire as all the naysayers about the American money credit system are cracking it up to be.Then Newshounds puts up on their blogsite...the selfsame Ben Stein on Fox News along with 2 others gang warfarers beating up on a guy named Peter Schiff who was telling his side of the truth about the currrent sad state of affairs of the system a...
Ben Stein: How Speculators Exploit Market Fears
2007-08-06 16:58:00 Ben Stein: How Speculators Exploit Market Fears. Here's a fact: The speculators and hedge fund managers who run today's stock market need market volatility in order to make money. They can't make enough money if the market stays flat or moves only a bit, so they like extreme and unexpected price movements. They especially like sudden, surprise movements down, when they can make money off stocks they borrow and sell -- or, as they say, "sell short." Subprime is a mess. But it's a small mess. In the context of the size of the U.S. financial sector, it's nothing. In the meantime, the economy is strong. Profits are great, and interest rates are low and will stay that way.

When Ben Stein Speaks, People, Well They Probably Should Listen
2007-07-14 16:44:00 Chances are you know who Ben Stein is, but in case you don't..."Bueller...Bue-ller". That's right, he played the Economics Teacher in Ferris Bueller's Day off. He also ran a game show on Comedy Central called "Win Ben Stein's Money".You may remember these shows, but his background goes much deeper than just his "humor side". Things you may not know are that he is a lawyer, economist and commentator on finance. He runs a bi-weekly column in the New York Times, has been a longtime contributor to Barron's, and a columnist and editorial writer for the Wall Street Journal. He even has a few books on personal finance as well as articles that appeared in the New York magazine and Washington Post. I think it is fair to say that he knows what he is talking about.Mr. Stein recently posted an article titled, "When Paying Off Doesn't Pay". In this article, he answers the many letters t...

Ben Stein: Bush Is ?Hero for the Ages?
2006-08-11 18:57:11 Ben Steinhas articulated the fight between liberal Western democracies and Islamic fascism in a simple and profound way in this American Spectator column. When the Israelis capture Arabs in their wars, the captured Arabs are well fed, well housed, and eventually returned to their homes. When the Arabs (specifically the Syrians) have captured Israelis, they castrate them, cut off their male organs, decapitate the Israelis, and stuff their male organs in their mouths and leave the bodies on the field. Sometimes they also defecate on the bodies. To see George W. Bush stand up for Israel while the left whines about totally meaningless multilateralism — which means asking France to defend Israel, sort of like asking Martin Bormann to defend Israel — is to see clear decency versus a waffling, age-old anti-Semitic sickness. The line of the fight between civilization and barbarism runs right along the Israel-Lebanon non-border. If it’s not won there, it won’t be lon...
