I have to say it is difficult and I, almost every time, find myself shaking my head. I really would love for Christians to be effective through television media in reaching out to the world. I live in Orlando and Benny Hinn has quite a reputation in the evangelical community here. As compared to other major United States cities, Orlando is very spiritually healthy. This church community is very aware of its spiritual surroundings. I know someone who attends, from what I understand, a healthy, doctrinally sound church in which his brother preaches at. The point is that Hinn's own brother openly denounces Hinn's teachings. There is no dispute that he has made some bogus allegations which are unbiblical. No doubt we can all do this. But his claims to receive "new revelations" from God which are not backed up by Scripture brings the likes of Muhammad or Joseph Smith to mind, and we as Christians consider these two to be false prophets. -Eric |
