How Hood Are Bernard Hopkins? Teeth On A Scale of 1-10?
2008-04-14 09:30:00
Bernard Hopkins had a very hard life, but was eventually able turn things around and become a hall of fame boxer. Hopkins had 7 siblings and only a mother to care for them (his father drank himself to death), and had to resort to robbing drug dealers to support himself. That’s hood. Bernard Hopkins was stabbed ...
WHO WINS? BERNARD HOPKINS THINKS RICKY HATTON
2007-12-08 22:49:00
It’s fight night. Hopefully you’ll be somewhere to watch Ricky Hatton and Floyd Mayweather put on a desperately needed show for boxing. I’ll say right now, I’m expecting the fight to go the full 12 rounds. Bernard Hopkins agrees and thinks Hatton will “out-hustle Mayweather to a 12-round unanimous decision”. More from the Executioner: “I ...
IWF's Updated Pound For Pound Boxing Rankings
2007-08-09 08:34:00
As we continue to bring you the most comprehensive coverage in the world of combat sports, we put together the latest pound for pound rankings for professional boxing. For those of you who have missed out on some of the great fights that have gone in the last year or so we have included recent highlights for every boxer on our list. By Doug MacEwan Top Ten1. Floyd Mayweather Jr. (38-0, 24 KOs) Welterweight ChampionPlus: After a laughable retirement Floyd decided to lace them up one more time for a megafight with Ricky Hatton. Both champions come in with undefeated records and even if most see it as a one sided boxing clinic, expect it to be another huge PPV event.Minus: The Hatton fight is huge but if Floyd wants to cement his legacy he needs to fight someone that presents at least a minor risk. Matches against Shane Mosley, Miguel Cotto, Paul Williams or Antonio Margarito would all be more competitive.2. Manny Pacquiao (44-3-2, 34 KOs) Junior LightweightPlus: Now that the contract ...
If You Like Biting, Try MMA, Says Hopkins
2007-07-24 04:18:00
Bernard Hopkins spent the days prior to his recent win bashing MMA. He spent the minutes after calling his 12 round decision over Winky Wright "the fight that saved boxing." Is he right about either? Before the fight, Hopkins had this to say about MMA and the UFC, more specifically:"You want to watch UFC? Go down to your local bar on a Friday night. After a few drinks, a couple of drunks will start throwing punches at one another. There's your UFC for you. UFC is street fighting in a cage. Boxing is a controlled, skilled talent. There's no comparison. Boxing's not going anywhere. It's hundreds of years old, man. You want to see biting, kicking, and kneeing? Go to your nearest bar. You want to see fighting, go to Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino on July 21."I love "The Executioner," but he couldn't more dead wrong in his comparison of the sports. For someone who knows the sport, there's a big difference between "someone throwing punches," and Randy Couture vs. Chuck Liddell. P...

Society Geared For MMA

A new angle on why MMA has surpassed boxing as America's dominant combat sport by Doug MacEwanAs an avid fan of both boxing and MMA I have taken notice of all the different theories as to why MMA has replaced boxing as the most popular combat sport in the world. On the surface you hear the talk of the rampant corruption in boxing turning long time fans away, but wasn?t it Don King who promoted ?The Rumble in the Jungle? during boxing?s golden age? And furthermore isn?t it the Ultimate Fighting Championship, undoubtedly MMA?s most popular organization, that is run by two casino owners with alleged connections to the New Orleans mob?I have also listened to many an argument about the apparent brutality of MMA drawing today?s blood thirsty masses away from the more sterilized boxing environment, but anyone who has watched Gatti vs. Ward or Corrales vs. Castillo 1 can tell you that there is plenty if not more violence over the course of a twelve round boxing match as compared to a thre...

Bernard Hopkins vs Winky Wright Round by Round Fight
2007-07-22 13:15:00
Winky Wright was beaten on points by Bernard ?The Execution? Hopkins in their boxing match in Las Vegas last might. The three judges scored the fight 117-111, 117-111 and 116-112 to Hopkins. The fight was very tough as Bernard Hopkins said afterwards: ?It was a tough fight, a very close fight,? ?Winky?s tough and he kept on coming so ...
Will Wright vs. Hopkins Live Up To The Hype?
2007-07-21 16:51:00
As Ronald "Winky" Wright and Bernard "The Executioner" Hopkins faced each other at yesterday's weigh-in, something completely unexpected happened: A fight broke out between the Wright and Hopkins entourages. ESPN boxing analyst Dan Rafael saw it like this:"Things got heated between the two, and after some finger wagging and trash talk, Hopkins stuffed his open fist into Wright's forehead, pushing him back. Wright shoved him back and a mini-melee broke out on stage." While this move may have generated some hype for the bout, it will cost Hopkins, according to Rafael: "Keith Kizer, executive director of the Nevada Athletic Commission ... said that 10 percent of Hopkins' $3 million purse ($300,000) would be held by the commission and that a complaint would be filed against him Monday." This is nothing we haven't seen before. Weigh-ins have historically been a place where two fighters who have been training to beat the hell out of each other will come to blows. But the question now ...
UFC fans are nothing but a bunch of ?Neanderthals!?
2007-06-07 16:33:00
...According to Vanochten.Brian Vanochten you fat bastard. Once again, it comes as no surprise; the UFC is gaining more negative light and criticism from ill-bred assholes who don?t understand the sport of mixed martial arts. With the recent upheaval of criticism from such major names as Floyd Mayweather, Tommy Morrison and even Bernard Hopkins, the criticism is just another day in the park. In a recent article featured on mlive.com, a news website based in Michigan, Vanochten got off his lazy ass and decided to write an article bashing the UFC and fans of the sport. He doesn?t do it in a professional fashion, why would he? When he can come off as a total douche bag! Like everyone else in the media bashing the UFC, he begins his article by referring to the UFC as ?glorified street fighting.?He goes on to state: ?Here?s what UFC fans have in common:A. They?re mostly Neanderthal males hiding in caves.B. They're not nearly sophisticated enough to appreciate the sweet scie...
