Bhakti Investama to start airline
2007-11-13 00:40:00 Bhakti Investama, an investment bank that controls the biggest media company in Indonesia, plans to start a full-service airline in the country to tap growth in leisure travel, its second aviation venture this year. Bhakti will start the new carrier, Eagle Air, by the first half of next year, the bank's founder and president commissioner, Hary Tanoesoedibjo, said in Jakarta on Monday. Eagle Air will start with 25 planes and fly domestic and Asian routes. A unit of Global Mediacom, which owns the most-watched television channel in Indonesia, is in talks to buy a Hollywood studio to gain access to U.S. movies and accelerate its overseas expansion.
