2009-09-22 19:18:00 Call us crazy, but last night’s two-hour season premiere of HOUSE that had the good doctor (not to mention us viewers) stuck in Mayfield Psychiatric Hospital for what felt like an eternity alongside some very talented guest stars (including Franka Potente, Andre Braugher and Broadway’s Lin-Manuel Miranda) was an epic fail. Okay sure, Laurie now has the pre-requisite ‘Very Special Episode’ for next year’s Emmy reel already in the can. And yes, the show, which does tend to become somewhat repetitious did switch things up from the standard mystery illness of the week. But for our money, last night is not how you start off a season. Personal character journeys that leave supporting favorites such as Cuddy, Chase and Cameron in the wings should be reserved for mid-season or at the very least, sweeps episodes. Not only did Marshall’s quest for the perfect burger hit a little too close to home, with this TV Addict’s all-time favorite Burger joint located thousands of miles across the country [see: Splitz in Whistler, BC]. I couldn’t help but find Barney’s shameless love affair with his company’s new client, the fictional Goliath National Bank somewhat depressing considering the economic crisis millions of Americans currently finding themselves in. 2008-09-10 08:27:00 Je ne sais pas si vous avez suivi mais quelque part à la frontière franco-suisse exite un laboratoire du Cern qui va bientôt pouvoir faire des expériences qui permettront de recréer les conditions du Big-Bang et voir ce qui se passe au niveau des hadrons.Ce qui est amusant dans cette histoire, c'est que certains, en fait deux personnes qui ont déposé plainte, pensent qu'en faisant cet expérience, il existe le risque de créer un trou noir qui aspirerait la planète, rien que ça !!! 2008-08-18 03:20:00 Radars to the Sky?s debut EP begins with ?Long Walk Home,? a fuzzy, charming duet that has all the importance and hook of the best indie rock singles. Male lead vocalist Andrew Spitser falls somewhere between David Byrne and Stephen Malkmus, while wife/keyboardist Kate Post Spitser?s voice has an airier, more pleasant quality. Together, they bounce between solid rhythm guitar and unexpectedly delicious riffs. For me, track two, ?I Might,? is the real revelation here: The drumming is some of the best around, and the fast pace and booming vocal tracks show off the best parts of this excellent new band. The use of two distinct and distinctly different vocals is an unusual choice in indie rock, and it serves this band well. We never get too Morrissey-ed out by Andrew, and Kate?s voice alone would likely be swallowed by the massive heft of the power chords and rhythm section.I?ve got high hopes for this group.
