Paramedics get on their bikes
2009-07-07 13:07:00 Under a new scheme being launched in Edinburgh and the Lothians, paramedics will be weaving in and out crowds by specialist bicycle. The bikes will become a regular feature at all large-scale spectacles, including the festival but will not act as a replacement for traditional vehicles. The objective is to allow paramedics ease of access among big crowds to carry out basic treatments. The two bikes ? which have been fully kitted out in bright ambulance colours and logos ? would give them an additional resource to respond to a variety of incidentsIt is unlikely the cycles will be on hand at sporting events or concerts, where emergency response will be left to more heavy duty vehicles. The mountain bikes are similar to ones occasionally used by Lothian and Borders police for the same purpose, and indicates a further branching out of the ambulance service. There are no plans to fit the bikes with flashing lights or sirens. Mr Alexander added: "I think the only siren will be the paramedic's...

Boobs on Bikes (Tette in motocicletta)
Mountainbikes vs Road Bikes
2008-07-04 01:04:00 I must admit that before I moved to Tenerife, I really didn’t fully understand this whole mountainbiking phenomenon. I mean, why would anyone intentionally choose to ride a bike on dirty, bumpy surfaces, in the middle of nowhere? They’re heavier than road bikes for a start. MTB drivetrains wear out quicker. Complex suspension components demand more maintenance. ...
Wooden Bikes
2008-06-19 08:42:00 Wooden bicycles can be found all over the world. These handmade bikes are often larger-scale scooters that you sit on. Made with whatever wood can be found, they use small wooden home-made wheels covered with discarded rubber rims. Forward movement depends on the rider pushing with their feet. These wooden bicycles are ridden in the Banaue region of the Philippines. During an annual festival celebrating the culture of the regional tribes, wooden bikes are raced by participants in native costume. Notice the cool foot-activated brakes. These photos are from the Flickr pool of Harry Palangchao. This kid bike is also found in the Philippines. This one too has a foot-actuated drag brake. The ones above are found in Burundi and were taken by Will Okun. These wooden bike scooters are used to haul cargo. Pushed up hill and then ridden down. Same idea in Ruhengeri, Rwanda. Morning Bikes
2008-06-05 04:21:00 Travis and I have been bike riding almost every morning for the past few days. We enjoy it. The kids enjoy it.. its just a nice escape for us... although its hard work :-)My legs are not in shape. Most of my workouts consist of abdominals or building lean muscle... so I dont really strain things or get overly hot during my workouts ... with bike riding though you get hot FAST and your legs burn. Atleast mine do!So it is a work out... but a good one... and I am thankful my husband can take that 30 - 45 minutes with us in the morning. Normally Travis wakes up around 4am... and that way he gets his praying time, studying and such done before we even wake. This allows him a bit of time with us in the morning... since during the day he is normally really busy... and many nights he has meetings and what not.Today after our bike ride I put the kids down for their quiet times... and got some laundry done. After the boys were up (Caleb just reads during this time, Taite sleeps) we went outsi...

Kawasaki And Suzuki: No Third Bikes For 2009, And No Kawasaki Wildcards
2008-06-03 16:11:00 For several years now, MotoGP grids have looked worryingly empty. The causes are well-known, and have been debated for years, but basically it boils down to the expense of fielding competitive machinery. The situation was exacerbated by the switch to 800cc: Just as all of the factories looked like getting a handle on the formula, the formula changed, requiring another vast sum of money to develop the new bikes. Dorna have relied very heavily on Honda to help fill out the grids, while putting pressure on the other manufacturers to start pulling their weight. Kawasaki and Suzuki have been particular targets, the two teams only field two bikes since they entered the class in 2002. It seemed as if 2009 would be the year the two factories finally relented, and fielded extra machinery. It now appears this is is not going to be the case. With the current season going well below expectations for both Kawasaki and Suzuki, both teams have decided to field only two bikes for the 2009 season,...

Its Official: Sunrise Pulls The Plug On Mountain Bikes
2008-05-21 18:04:00 Its official... Sunrise has pulled the plug on lift assisted mountain biking in Arizona. Literally 4 days before the scheduled opening of Sunrise Ski Park in Show Low Arizona, the local Tribe who controls the land has decided to not open for the summer. This decision is a huge blow to the gravity scene here in AZ and the parks re-opening to bikes in the future is in doubt. The White Mountain Cup Race which is scheduled for June 13-15 is tenatively still on for now, but with this decision, I don't really see how the trails will be in race ready condition, or who will actually support the race or the resort. If you would like to voice your opinion to Sunrise Ski Park about this decision, please send an email to land manager Bill London at london@cybertrails.com We just ask that you keep any comments friendly since Bill has been a good friend to the bike movement at Sunrise and is the voice for us bikers that the tribe listens too. read more &raqu-o;

The Bikes I've Owned - So Far Anyway!
2008-05-13 16:00:00 T hese are the motorbikes/motorcycles I've owned through my riding life. At the age of Ten in 1968 the Fox Mini-bike found it's way home to me. We lived on a hill in the Ensley Highlands and must have circled that block a thousand time on this mini-bike. This set the stage for a life of riding enjoyment. In 1973 at age 15 I came into a new Suzuki 185 Enduro. My first real motorcycle. I was on this bike from sun-up to past sun-down most days. My friends Tim Cooper & Paul Hugley & I would ride the Power Line or Pipe Line access roads climbing hills and playing in the woods all day. In 1974, my brother-in-law Albert gave me his used Yamaha 360 Enduro. This beast would out run, out climb and out jump all the other bike around at the time. We bored it out to a 408 after 50,000 miles of hard riding and the beast was an amazing motorcycle. This is when I was racing Enduro's and Hare Scrambles. ...
As gas prices keep climbing, people choosing to get their bikes fixed
2008-05-13 07:04:00 With Gasoline prices at record high levels, more drivers than ever are trying to unload their SUVs and get into vehicles that don't consume as much fuel. Some are moving to smaller more efficient cars, while others are hopping on public transit. Still others are opting for pedal power. Barry Dahl of Bismark ND seems to have picked a most opportune time to open his new bike shop. He sold more than fifty bikes in his first month in business. Bike shops all over the country are having record sales this year and even those who aren't buying new ones are getting their older bikes fixed up. Shops that have seen declining repair business for over a decade are seeing a big up-tick in business this spring. For those of you haven't ridden your bike to work yet this Friday may be a good time to start. The League of American Bicyclists is promoting Bike-to-Work Day on May 16. Depending on where you live, this may be the time to start. Fortunately here in the Ann Arbor area, we have lots of b...
Ride Bikes to Beat High Gas Prices
2008-05-13 02:06:00 I’ve been thinking about ways to save money on fuel costs. I’ve been trying to fill up with E85 as much as I can — I have a flex fuel van — but the savings might not be adding up as the difference between E85 and regular unleaded isn’t really that great and is less than 15% in this area because ethanol prices rise along with gasoline prices. Add the small price differential and the reduction in miles per gallon obtained from E85 and it might not really be the best choice. So, I’ve been thinking about the alternative to driving as summer approaches and the weather turns from rainy spring time to sunny summer — riding my bike to work if I don’t have to go anywhere away from the office. When I was young, riding my bike wouldn’t have been a problem. My brother and my friends rode anywhere and everywhere. Now, I live not too far from work — I’m about 5 miles or so away from my office — not too far away while ridin...
Messing about in Boats (and on bikes and in Parks)
2008-05-13 00:32:00 We?ve been so fortunate with the weather here in the UK; it was gloriously hot all weekend long in Kent. We certainly made the most of it and did the typical Brit thing of dragging out the barbecue (or in our case buying a new one) as soon as the sun comes out. In fact we had a barbecue two nights in a row - well hell, it?s not often you get such great barbecue weather here in good old Blighty and even rarer to get it over an entire weekend.Saturday was spent pottering around, doing washing, mowing the lawn and sitting out in the garden, and I planted up some herbs in pots. Let?s hope I don?t kill them like I do every other plant that has the misfortune to be owned by me. I think these herbs stand more of a chance though as I?m going to be able to get some good, and well needed, advice over on my forums. We?ve now got a forum dedicated to growing your own produce; 'The Veg Patch', which is great. Hopefully this will mean that my herbs last me throughout the summer and perhaps even...

He's often seen racing on Mumbai roads on bikes and sweet heart Bipasha being the indulgent girlfriend even gifted him a Suzuki Hayabusa.
