Buffalo Rumblings' Best of the Bills Team: QB
2008-06-09 13:00:00
Bills Hall of Fame QB Jim Kelly (Photo Source) Ever wondered what it would look like to see the best Buffalo Bills of all-time lined up on the same field?  Ever salivated at the thought of a dual-threat running back tandem of O.J. Simpson and Thurman Thomas?  Today, Buffalo Rumblings sets out to get those dreams as close to reality as possible. Today, we're starting a series (inspired by the folks over at Big Blue View) called "Best of the Bills Team", in which Rumblings readers will vote into prominence a 27-man roster (22 starters, K/P, 3 specialists) of Buffalo's best players of all-time.  The Bills have a rich history and have had plenty of outstanding players don the red, white and blue; it's time that this blog community properly honor those players that made us fans in the first place. Here's how this is going to work: for each position (we'll employ a 3-4 defense, for those wondering, and we'll do 3 receivers in lieu of a fullback unless there's dissent...
Pay Off Your Bills Even In Debt Posted By : Ajeet Khurana

Bills' Depth at RB Could Be Put to the Test
2008-06-07 15:34:00
Will Wright, others see more playing time? (Photo Source) Let's suppose that come September, the Buffalo Bills will be without running back Marshawn Lynch for an extended period of time.  That's not close to being out of the question, as the second-year pro's off-field troubles (hit and run accident) could land him multiple misdemeanor charges; NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell may be compelled to hand out a suspension even if Lynch lands a plea deal. Lynch might face charges in hit and run [Buffalo News]Buffalo police threaten Bills RB Lynch with obstruction of justice [CBC Sports] The Bills would do well in this scenario to prepare for the worst, and the worst is a lengthy suspension for Buffalo's running back.  While we keep our fingers and toes crossed that Lynch can avoid disciplinarian action from the NFL (learn your lesson, Marshawn), we can also discuss Buffalo's contingency plan at the running back position. Jackson starts, but can he score?Buffalo had good luck...

Around the AFC East: Buffalo Bills
2008-06-06 06:15:00
It's Friday, so it's time to go around the AFC East. To kick things off today is Brian Galliford of Buffalo Rumblings: Matty I: You said that you knew it was coming, and here it is.  What do you make of this Marshawn Lynch "potential hit and run" situation and how would the Bills cope with losing Lynch for any matter of games?  And how big of a distraction is this right now for Lynch and the entire Bills organization? Brian G: It's difficult to discuss at this point because there's so little factual material surrounding the incident.  Lynch still hasn't spoken with Buffalo police, who continue to investigate the situation.  All I can say is this - the signs are pointing to Lynch being the driver, and if that turns out to be true, he could face up to a year in jail time (it's a misdemeanor crime).  The football deities know that I hope I'm wrong on that speculation. All we get from team responses are the generic "no comment" and team media - so the re...

Lynch Incident Highlights Tumultuous Bills Off Season
2008-06-05 12:45:00
Lynch one of seven current and former Bills with issues (Photo Source) "Character."  It's the overriding quality of hard work and "team player" that former Buffalo Bills GM Marv Levy and his regime worked hard to build a new team around in his two-year run from 2006 to 2007.  Those two character-based teams finished 7-9 in consecutive years under the leadership of Dick Jauron, and with the team moving in the correct direction talent-wise, Levy saw fit to retire for a second time from the Bills organization, which handed the reigns to a trio of Levy's understudies. In one off-season, however, several Bills players have developed issues that fall outside of the perceived "character" spectrum that could become distractions to the franchise for the foreseeable future.  Whether we're talking about legal issues, contractual issues or playing time issues, the fact remains that the Bills currently have five players with very specific stories to follow - all with varying de...
Young People Love Paying Bills Late
2008-06-05 04:32:00
Or so that’s what Carmen Wong Ulrich (pictured), CNBC’s newest personal finance blogger, would have us all believe. She quotes a survey that says 41% of young adults (18-29) do not pay their bills on time. That number is a little hard to believe, but if it’s true it’s really worrisome. To prove her point, and start ...
State of the Bills Roster: The Recap
2008-06-05 01:25:00
Bills RB Fred Jackson (Photo Source) For nearly three weeks now, we have spent much of our time breaking down the Buffalo Bills' current personnel in our "State of the Roster" series. We, the Buffalo Rumblings community, have had some very intricate discussions about nearly every current Bill on the roster; I hope you've found the discussions as helpful in analyzing the roster changes post off-season as I have.  Rest assured that we'll have content daily right up to training camp, but for now, here's a recap of each article involved in our State of the Roster II series: Quarterback: No more Edwards vs. Losman... right?Running Back: Written well before Lynch's run-in with the law.Tight End/Fullback: No more H-Back, but still not a well-defined split.Wide Receiver: Hardy must produce if aerial attack is to blossom.Offensive Tackle: Depth may be a concern, especially if Peters holds out.Offensive Guard/Center: Is Fowler the weak link of the starting O-Line? Defensive End: End...

Bills RB Lynch Finds Legal Trouble
2008-06-01 15:13:00
Police investigating hit-and-run incident; Lynch possibly involved? (Photo Source) WGRZ-TV in Buffalo is reporting that Buffalo police are currently investigating a hit and run accident involving a car owned by Buffalo Bills running back Marshawn Lynch. The incident reportedly took place at 3:30 AM on Saturday morning.  A female pedestrian was struck by the car and remained lying in the street for a quarter of an hour before walking to an ambulance under her own power, according to witness reports discussed in the linked article above. As it stands right now, Lynch is only involved in the story because the car is registered in his name.  According to the report, it is still unclear if Lynch was driving the vehicle at the time of the incident, or if he was even in the vehicle at all.  As the police investigation continues, we should learn more about the extent of Lynch's involvement in the situation.  The Bills and Lynch's attorney (who is out of town) have not ...

Around The AFC East: Buffalo Bills
2008-05-30 06:16:00
It's Friday, so it's time to again go "Around the AFC East." Kicking us off today is Brian Galliford of Buffalo Rumblings: Matty I: As we inch our way closer to training camp, who is the Buffalo Bill that typical NFL fans might not be too familiar with that we should keep a close eye on in 2008?  And conversely, who is the one player on the Bills that probably has gotten too much undeserved national attention? Brian Galliford: While "national attention" is something that Bills players rarely get, a couple of names do come to mind here.  Keep your eye on RB Fred Jackson.  Marshawn Lynch (deservedly) gets all of the love from the media, but the fact of the matter is that at no level has Lynch ever carried a full rushing load.  If the Bills want to get the most out of their best offensive playmaker, they'll limit his rushing load a bit and get him more involved in the passing game (see: Tomlinson, L).  If that happens - and many Bills fans hope it does - th...

Reduce UK Tax Bills By Knowing What Business Expenses To Claim Posted By :
2008-05-27 02:38:00
Tax bills can be reduced if all allowable business expenses are included in costs and receipts retained as supporting evidence. While all business expenses can be claimed it would not be unusual for particularly inexperienced small businesses to fail to claim some business expenses due to uncertainty over what constitutes a valid business expense. A recent study by United College Marketing Services has shown that student credit lines have increased to over $6,000. Credit card usage has tripled since 2001 amongst teenagers as well. Since eighteen year-olds in many countries and most U.S. states are eligible for a card without parental consent or employment, the likelihood of increased balances, unwise use of credit and damaged credit scores increases. Lower Tax Bills And Bookkeeping For Small Business Posted By : Terry Cartwr
2008-05-26 03:30:00
Financial record keeping and bookkeeping by small business is occasionally accurate but often produced once a year for tax purposes. By maintaining a diary, retaining all receipts and updating the accounting records on a regular weekly or monthly basis small business can seriously account for all costs and reduce the final tax bill. That last time I used my credit card, I kicked myself. You see, I'm trying out this whole negative reinforcement thing. Anyway, the point is that we should try not to spend so much and start saving more. Maybe what's in order is a financial planning education course. Read more about finance and credit cards.

Around The AFC East: Buffalo Bills
2008-05-23 06:15:00
Last year, to help pass the time of the NFL's "dead season, " we had a feature every Friday until the start of the season called "Around The AFC East."  It was a chance to talk about some of our divisional rivals and hear what their thoughts were about the upcoming season.  From what I could tell from some comments and a few e-mails, it was rather popular. Well it's back for 2008.  Every Friday, each of the AFC East SB Nation sites will exchange questions and comments about carious topics.  And though we don't have a Jets blog at the moment, we were lucky enough to get Brian Bassett from the premier Jets site on the net, The Jets Blog, to help us out. So to get us started, let's talk Buffalo Bills.  And to do that, we enlist the help of Brian Galliford from Buffalo Rumblings.  Below is his response to my question.  You can head over to his site to see my response to his Dolphins-related question. Bills OT Peters Reportedly Seeks New Contract
2008-05-22 04:53:00
Peters seeks to strike gold after Pro Bowl season (Photo Source) After not-so-inconspicuously missing the first three days of the Buffalo Bills' first 2008 OTAs, the Buffalo News is reporting that Bills offensive tackle Jason Peters - elected to his first Pro Bowl in 2007 - is seeking a new deal from the Bills.  Peters now joins a growing contingent of young Bills players looking for big paydays - a list that already includes WR Lee Evans and LB Angelo Crowell. Our very own sireric correctly predicted this would happen back in February, so be sure to check out his clairvoyant writings before proceeding here.  Peters - scheduled to make $2.2 million in 2008 as part of a 5-year, $15 million extension he signed in 2006 - is a classic NFL rags-to-riches story: the former undrafted free agent tight end made a position switch (twice) in Buffalo and has worked his way into becoming one of the NFL's elite young offensive line talents.  At age 26, Peters is just now entering...
