The first - not as important, and easier to write about - we had the first interview for my replacement at work today. Behind closed doors, so I couldn’t listen in. It felt icky. I know this was my decision, and it’s what’s best for my family, I just really really don’t like the process of training my replacement. I’m damn good at my job, and don’t want there to be comparisons. Although, there always inevitably are. Ok, I’ll stop whining now. And Joseph. I’m not sure what to write about this from a legal perspective. Let’s just say that Joseph came to us last night with potentially damaging and/or abusive information (not against him, thank God), and I had to move forward with authorities.  Being that Joseph was the witness, I’m hoping that he’s not too heavilly involved in the coming events. But there were many emails and phone calls between me and said authorities today. We&rs...

Check it, ‘cos this is where I’m at: the gifts are opened — the items that need to be exchanged have been exchanged, that which needs to be returned has been returned, that which we love has been put in its place, and the lame crap we got at the obligatory office holiday functions is decorating the dining table and the kitchen countertop because we haven’t quite figured out how long we have to keep it visible before it can safely vanish. I am all in favor of holiday potlucks at the office because the gift of food is welcome when you work in an environment where management is cheap has no petty cash to spend on munchies. Not that my waist line needs more munchies. Our garbage collection happens on Tuesdays (and Fridays, but never mind that one), so there is an inordinate amount of trash in the house. Days where you look down at your gigantic belly and realize that you no longer have the options that you might have had just seven months ago? I never thought I'd want out of my marriage or the life I've chosen... And I still don't believe I ever will. But I guess there were times, prior to getting knocked up, that there was an idea -- way out there -- in the very very back of my tiny mind -- that if the crap hit the fan, I could still run away and start again. And now, with a whole other small person coming to live with me, someone for whom I'll be totally responsible (with some help from the man, of course), it's like that door has slammed shut forever. I can't pack it in and move back to New York City to try to live the wild life again. I will probably never again hold a director-level marketing position at some great company that throws kick-ass parties. I will most likely never again...
