Holy Books & Blind Faith [A Zen Story]
2008-03-14 10:32:00 All over the world, people are struggling to adopt family planning, and some religions object to it. They say that children are a gift of god and if god gives, we must accept. Why is it necessary to drag religion into this family planning problem? Religion has nothing to do with this social activity. If we depend on our holy books for everything without using our commonsense, we may get into trouble. Let me tell you a story to illustrate this. There was a religious teacher who had a few thousand followers. He was very strict and insisted that his word was law. He had written down all the instructions in his holy book and he warned his followers not to do anything without referring to his holy book. One day when this guru and the followers were crossing a narrow bridge, the guru slipped and fell down into the river. The followers remembered the instructions and wanted to read the holy book to determine what he had decreed and what to do when the guru fell into the river. The guru wa...

Faith Or Blind Faith!
2007-10-29 15:19:00 Faith Or Blind Faith! The local Chinese community in the island of Phuket platform (Phuket) holds 'The Nine Emperor Gods Festival' (Vegetarian Festival) every autumn. Its their belief that these nine days, nine imperial "Gods" descend to the earth & will gift prosperity for the coming year to the island. And to appeal & make them happy these people avoid meat, alcohol, tobacco & even a physical relationship. All these make sense to an extent till now, but what they do furthermore doesn't make much sense to us.Hundreds of them ecreip their cheeks, nose, & lips using all types of sharp objects & even at times its seen that they use a meter long garden shovel. Apart from these, they walk on burning coals & take bath in hot oil. And its also said that during this period, some of them get into a trance & climb on the ladder that has sedalb instead of regular steps, & amazingly without harming self. Can you believe this? Can there be a scientific explanation for all this? Some of these i...

Is christianity blind faith?
2007-10-02 04:35:00 Today I would like to talk about faith. Now when I tried to share Christianity with people I've heard often experienced a similar response. "well I can't follow your religion because it is blind following, it is blind faith so I can't follow that religion. This is a very common reply but one that I believe doesn't really make sense if it is dissolved.First of all what is faith. Well according to the bible, Hebrew 11:1, "Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see."This is a very straightforward definition. Faith is a huge part of any type of belief. Now most of "these people" that I referred to before, are believers in evolution. But what they fail to realize is that Evolution is also based on faith, any belief is cannot be repeated must be taken by faith. This is hard to understand because faith has been given the bad rap that it is unrealistic. Faith has been separated from belief and for some reason, belief has become something more logical t...

9/22/07 - Life Journal - Blind Faith
2007-09-25 18:20:00 When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, "Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch." Simon answered, "Master, we've worked hard all night and haven't caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets."Luke 5:4,5While Jesus was in one of the towns, a man came along who was covered with leprosy. When he saw Jesus, he fell with his face to the ground and begged him, "Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean."Luke 5:12When they could not find a way to do this because of the crowd, they went up on the roof and lowered him on his mat through the tiles into the middle of the crowd, right in front of Jesus.Luke 5:19After this, Jesus went out and saw a tax collector by the name of Levi sitting at his tax booth. "Follow me," Jesus said to him, and Levi got up, left everything and followed him.Luke 5:27In this one chapter we read about some people who showed amazingly blind faith when their few minutes on earth with Jesus took place. First, Si...
Atherton on England?s ?blind faith?
2007-04-15 17:35:00 Another supreme piece from Athers in today’s Sunday Telegraph: England can beat South Africa and the West Indies, but it would be almost a miscarriage of justice if they found themselves in the semi-finals. And in terms of learning lessons for the future, it might not do English cricket much good at all to know that ...
Blind Faith; The Needle in the Haystack.
2007-02-16 07:10:00 Men are crusading for a needle in a haystack, when a needle is unneeded to sow the essential harvest of our survival. It is essential to sow into the survival of our kind and our planet, but the work has not been done and in the future we will surely bare a harvest of our ultimate destruction in Armageddon. Humanity has failed God by, not sowing into the planets prosperity by nurturing and protecting our world’s biologically diverse circle of life, the balance of elements and the global peace and unity of our people. Instead we have been achieving the diabolic agenda of Satan in creating mass destruction against the intention of God’s Kingdom on Earth. We are going to face the horribly brutal consequences of our own influence upon the world and none will be able to escape the eternal wrath of the mistake we are making in ending the world and condemning ourselves. Those who believe that they are already saved have been deceived into perusing a needle in a haysta... |
