Fansites report back in from Blizz HQ
2008-03-13 00:00:00 The few lucky fansites that got to go out to Blizzard HQ and report back on the game have done just that. They are all back from their trips and have posted up some interesting info for all of us. Reporting sites starcraft2forums.org gamereplays.org sc.gosugamers.net The Starcraft2forum.org report Full race report by our friend Joneagle click here Snippet: The Zerg are very interesting to play and certainly have a long way to go, but I think overall they’re on the right track. They have a very distinct racial “flavor” and are clearly separate from that of Terran and Protoss. While some will probably be worried by the Queen’s emergence as a “hero,” I assure you that she is not. She is not overly powerful in any way and is more of a unit to be protected at all costs than a unit to be thrown into battle. She’s simply extremely useful. The new aspects of Zerg gameplay are a positive rather than a negative to the game. Gamereplays in...

Protoss and Terran Tech Trees
2007-08-14 00:55:00 We have two snapshots of the Protoss and Terran tech trees, taken at BlizzCon. BUZZ: Blizzard working on game that isn't StarCraft II
2007-07-15 00:30:00 Blizzard's Frank Pearce dropped a bombshell during an interview with Gamasutra, letting slip that Blizzard has another game in development in addition to StarCraft II during a discussion about Blizzard's workforce."Our global headcount is 2,700," said Pearce, "And most of that is customer service for World of Warcraft! In terms of development staff it?s probably around 350. World of Warcraft is about 135 people, 40 for Starcraft II, 40 for team 3, our cinematics team is about 85 guys. Then there?s sound and Q/A and that sort of thing."When pressed for details regarding the new project, Pearce was cagey. "Team 3 is working on something really awesome. I can?t give you any hints, but it?s totally awesome."Diablo III? A new MMO? We can only know one thing for sure: it's probably going to make a lot of money.[Blizzard establishes 3rd team, new game expected via Gamasutra]

2007-06-28 21:13:00 Blizzard’s third-person shooter action game Starcraft Ghost was moved from developer to developer twice, between it’s announcement for consoles in 2002, and before being put on hold “indefinitely” in March 2006. Blizzard Don’t Care About Their Customers
2007-06-10 19:15:00 I get annoyed at this time and again. Over and over, Blizzard demonstrate a complete lack of caring about the majority of their paying customer base. Yes, this is a rant. I enjoy playing World of Warcraft - to some degree. There are things I don’t enjoy very much about the whole experience, such as the whole “grinding” aspect (that is, repeating something over and over again until you’ve gained enough points/gold/items of one type or another to gain a reward). But all of that could be put down to me looking for different things in games than other people - I know of a few people who actually enjoy that. Myself, I like the questing part, as each quest you complete gives you a little part of the world’s storyline. People have different tastes. (more…)

Blizzard.com teases once more with StarCraft’s Kerrigan
2007-05-16 09:25:00 In case you missed it, Blizzard Entertainment is employing a new strategy on informing the public about its up and coming project. Its main page, Blizzard.com, showcases a timeline of its past video game titles with the last entry being a curiously glowing question mark. Well, the page got updated again and what do you know, it now headlines the original StarCraft and Sarah Kerrigan’s infamous lines, “I am the Queen of Blades. And my stare alone would reduce you to ashes.” After denying it for so long, it was confirmed a couple of weeks ago that Blizzard is indeed making a new SC game. However, it is still uncertain if StarCraft 2 will remain true to its roots and be a RTS title. There were some rumors a while back that Blizzard is planning to make it a MMO, much like what it did to the Warcraft franchise. All speculations will be ended soon as a formal announcement will be conducted at the Blizzard World Invitational three days from now.
Blizzard set to reveal World of Starcraft May 19th
2007-05-05 22:51:00 Blizzard will confirm their new MMORPG (massively multiplayer online role playing game *phew!) on May 19th at an event in South Korea, where the fandom is so bananas that they broadcast starcraft matches on TV.Blizzard's other online offering, World of Warcraft, has topped 6 million subscribers and is arguably the biggest game around today. The new offering will have to be very different from their previous successful release, my roomate(who works for Insomniac Games) suspects it'll be a FPS (First Person Shooter). But thats purely speculation.

Birds and Blizzards
2007-02-17 17:37:02 It’s no secret that we here in Ithaca had a pretty good snow storm a couple days ago, with the official tally being 16.8 inches of snow. This not only causes problems for us humans, but for birds as well - the food that songbirds can usually find easily becomes covered over by the fallen snow. They have an easy solution, however - go visit the nearest birdfeeder. And visit they did. My backyard was alive with very active birds, while we watched from the warm comfort of the house. (more…)

Well, the Denver blizzard, which at first prevented my
2007-01-15 19:37:05 Well, the Denver blizzard, which at first prevented my family from making a Christmas trip to my in-laws in Texas, wasn?t more powerful than my wife?s will, and we ended up making the trip on Christmas Eve. And though the second storm was powerful enough to delay our return a few days, we battled back home late Saturday night. Thus, I?ve been sans computer for a week and battling illnesses?my own and my kids. So I?ve had no time or energy to write my ?Changes? essay. ??.pause to blow my nose for the 843rd time?? OK, enough of my whining. Instead of writing my own essay, I?m stealing from David Bowie and his luminous lyrics. In this time of forced, clichd, New Year?s resolutions, I suggest delving into these words for a little guidance for 2007. That?s what I plan to due as soon as my NyQuil buzz wears off. Happy New Year to all! And now, courtesy of Mr. Bowie: CHANGES. I still don't know what I was waiting for And my time was running wild A million dead-end streets Ev...

Holiday Blizzard 2006
2006-12-22 14:34:02 They really should give the blizzards real names. Holiday Blizzard 2006 is good, but I think something like Blizzard CoCo or Blizard Penelope or something would be cool.It stopped snowing and some of the larger SUV's (not mine) have been able to dig out. I watched a few neighbors dig out with brooms, frying pans, and even a plastic mixing bowl. Most people in apartments don't own a shovel, I know we don't. We are staying in. I need to venture out tomorrow to get some more Christmas things, a birthday present, and some groceries and my TMX ELmo! I am very excited about that one!The balcony is still attached to the building. But look at all that snow!! Miss Turtle is tall for her age and the snow out there is about up to her shoulders!! It's even melted down about an inch or so when I took the picture. Crazy snow. Blizzard Vixen (I named it that just now) came in strong, but I think that Santa will still be able to find his way to our house with that Elmo TMX.
