2008-03-04 17:56:00 Ever since I heard Deerhoof’s Friend Opportunity, my ears became allergic to Japanese front women. I really couldn’t stand the girl’s horrible English accent. And when this horrible accent came combined with a very sophisticated unpredictable music, the whole thing became too experimental. Well, fortunately this is not the case in Blonde Redhead. 23 is the first album I have heard from them but according to editors they have mellowed down a bit on their Sonic Youth-ish distortions. The front woman’s voice does not have the accent density of Deerhoof’s so don’t worry about that adding that there is actually a front man involved as well that sings out some tracks. The title track is a great starter with layered guitar and layered vocals and to a large extent gives out a general view of the whole 43 minute disk. 23 is the band’s 9th studio album and as a matter of fact has some key tracks that present the album better than others. Platinum LP The Birthday Massacre: Walking with Strangers Toronto?s The Birthday Massacre is a study in contradictions. While sometimes labeled a ?goth revival? act (and it?s true that you?ll hear all kinds of ?80s post-punk and goth influences), there?s something very contemporary, even forward-looking, about their sound, which manages to be appropriately dark and bright to the point of chirpy. Hard, yet, achingly beautiful. Thematically discomforting, yet not remotely nihilistic. And so on. First, we?re excited to announce that we will be hitting the road in September with our friends, School of Seven Bells. It's going to be a wonderful US tour. Later, in October we?ll be back in New York and have been invited to be part of an amazing lineup curated by Arcade Fire. On the bill will be Arcade Fire (of course) LCD Soundsystem, Les Savy Vav & Wild Light. The end of the month of October, we're off again to the West Coast, playing Los Angeles and San Francisco ending up in Las Vegas for The Vegoose Festival.Then, come November, we're off to Europe to tour with our long time friends Interpol. As you can see, we're going to be really busy. Check out our dates, their all up.Also, we've just put up a bunch of videos done by film director Mike Mills. 2007-08-27 05:12:00 The last tour bus had a big bedroom in the back and it was once Morrissey's bedroom on tour. I got to sleep in it since I was the only non-male. I slept better in this bed than my own. It was only a week tour but I slept from right after the show till right before the sound check the next day everyday which was more than 10 hours in average. I am kind of a insomniac(could you tell from from my permanent puffy eyes?) Even if I wasn't sleeping I just played with Colette in it as you can see here. Las baterías son básicas, los bajos inexistentes y la voz de Kazu Makino suena entre susurros adormecedores y agudos esporádicos. Dando inicio con la canción que le da el nombre al disco, los teclados new wave dan el tono al álbum: suaves y oscuros, hasta que aparecen las guitarras y el ritmo comienza a subir llegando a un coro que se quiebra entre distorsiones opacas. Whats also unfortunate is that they broke so much new ground with their past albums that each new record will have a hard time to revolutionize just like they did before. So now, we will wallow in the awesomeness where they have already created.This is not an embarrassing step-son type of album - the one you might feed seldomly and keep in the kitchen when you have company. This is more of the youngest child. An absolute pleasure to have around, sure, but when someone makes fun of your mother, you fucking bring out Misery Butterfly and you watch them cry running home to their own.The title track pretty much lays the mood for the entire album. It deserves to be the title track, and deserves to the the first single from the album. Its good. Playing loud makes better, as with most BR.
