Michael Jackson Bloody Shirt Found In Closet (Photos)
2009-08-07 14:11:00 A bloody shirt that still had a price tag was found inside the late Michael Jackson?s closet at his rented mansion, where he died from a heart attack, in North Carolwood Drive, Los Angeles on June 25, 2009. Surprisingly, the shirt, which must have been used to wipe up blood and never actually worn, was not ...
Bloody Mary Methanol Racer
2009-07-28 07:01:00 Single-seater motorcycle-engined race cars are cool. Doubling up the number of motorcycle engines in your single-seater race car is mind-blowing. Adding two more? Achingly awesome. John Vary Bolster did just that with his Bloody Mary race special and raced it from the time he built it in 1929 un
The iSaw Will Be the Bloody Apex of USB Peripherals
2009-07-07 19:27:00 From Gizmodo: The iSaw is not just a USB-powered chainsaw. It's also an extremely committed joke. Go to the brand new iSaw website and you'll discover the engineering mastery that goes into such a nonexistent but lethal USB device, including "Instant plug 'n' play. Zero startup
Sunday, Bloody Sunday
2009-07-06 03:12:00 Wanted to post the post game recaps following the loss Sunday, also to mention that in day two of the Carlos Quentin rehab saga, he went 2 for 2 and played five innings. His 3rd game, he'll DH and go nine and his fourth day he'll be off. We'll see. Here's the recaps:Mark Gonzales shows the way for the Chicago Tribune. It's the AP recap for the Chicago Sun-Timesand Scott Merkin reports for Whitesox.comUPDATE:Mark Gonzales also...
Friday Morning Headlines: Bloody Mary Edition (Placeholder)
2009-05-15 14:51:00 You've earned a day off Don't look now, but the victim complex is back in full force: Major League Baseball reduced Bradley's suspension from two games to one, even though he and the Cubs were adamant he did not make contact with an umpire while arguing a called third strike a month ago. "It figures," he said Thursday. "I never get treated fairly. It's exactly what I expected." Rawr, rawr, rawr. No one understands you, She-Bear. Yeah, yeah, we get it. Life is cruel. You're a major-league baseball player and you make millions to play a child's game, but the world is out to get you. Enough already. Oddly (or terrifyingly) enough, Rick Morrissey and I agree on this: There seems to be a very large difference of opinion here. Lots of people believe Bradley is his own worst enemy. Bradley believes a lot of umpires are his worst enemies. Either way, he has a tendency to lose. MLB officials probably will deny it forever, but Bradley's past haunts him. He's not going to get the ben...
Friday Morning Bloody Mary Headlines
2009-04-03 14:06:00 Take a gander at that beautiful baby What say you, Johnny Damon?: "This is by far the best new stadium out there and it's supposed to be - it belongs to the New York Yankees. Now it's our job to christen it the right way." Damn straight. By playing the Chicago Cubs. The Cubs are just happy to be included: NEW YORK - The Cubs opted to take the road less traveled on their way to Opening Day in Houston, flying Thursday from Phoenix to New York to help open the new Yankee Stadium this weekend. They will trek to Houston on Saturday night and work out Sunday before the season begins Monday. The forecast calls for rain Friday night, which could hinder the Cubs' plans to get Ted Lilly stretched out for his first start Wednesday at Minute Maid Park. Otherwise, everyone seemed to relish the opportunity to christen the ballpark, especially manager Lou Piniella and outfielder Alfonso Soriano, who hit the last World Series home run for the Yankees at the now-defunct Yankee Stadium in 2003. ...

My Bloody Valentine - Loveless
2008-08-28 20:12:00 So what to make of this noise now, with British pop restored/reduced to chirpiness, choppiness or chippiness, everyone running around like idiots? One would suppose it should sound dated. It doesn’t: My Bloody Valentine’s breathy roar, even in a new century, stands outside of time, is stronger than time. Their flaws are perhaps more obvious ...
Sunday, Bloody Sunday
2008-07-13 15:28:00 We have always known music is powerful - that it can affect people, reach them on a very visceral level. Here, then, is a reworking - a mashup, if you will - of a song that was already full of power and emotion. Lebanon in Crisis - Choufeit's Bloody Pentecost
2008-05-17 02:32:00 by Franklin Lamb In the lower Chouf village of Choufeit with its panoramic view of Beirut's closed airport (which will likely stay closed for 4 or 5 more days as a Hezbollah pressure point on the Bush administration to achieve a settlement that it views as fair and just), Dahiyeh, Sabra, Shatila and Burj Barajneh Palestinian Refugee Camps; Pentecost Sunday started in a somber mood for the few remaining Christians and dominant Druze population of this picturesque, rugged, hilly and ancient village. The reason was that virtually the whole village was in attendance at a 9 a.m. memorial service for two supporters of the Druze Lebanese Democratic Party, 18 year old ____ and 22 year old _____ (names withheld at the request of family pending notification of family members living outside Lebanon) who were probably shot as they drove too fast through a newly setup check-point on May 10th. (The exact circumstances and who exactly was responsible are not clear given the myriad...
Bloody good, too!
2008-05-16 02:33:00 Apparently, the cannibalistic urge is strong in the human psyche, if the number of artists working in the genre of "food that looks like people" is any reflection. Here's another one, sent to me by an alert reader in LA. This subgenre takes a new spin on the theme, offering food that looks like people who have died horrible deaths.Tasty, hmmm?Thai artist Kittiwat Unarrom has an MFA and works in the medium of bread. He hails from a family of bakers, and displays many of his delicious delicacies dangling from meat hooks, for an added air of authenticity. The article does not detail how his family feels about his interpretation of their hereditary profession. Click here for lots of great pictures of the artist at work and the finished product.

I hate you and I hate the whole bloody world.
2008-05-15 09:48:00 It was a beautiful day. The sky was a cloudless blue. The air was warm, sweet and fragrant.I was curled up on the floor of the Year 12 common room, my head in Petal's lap, clutching my stomach.I couldn't drink my cup of tea. I denied Petal's offer of chocolate.Later, people would start to talk to me. I sat with a sour look on my face, snapping at them and interrupting their sentences with "You're still talking to me! Why are you still talking to me?!"Luckily they just laughed.I love being female. And yes, I'm aware I was supposed to blog about human rights today. Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn. Talk to me about it next week.

WordsDay: The Bloody Shirt and America?s history of terrorism
2008-05-01 19:49:00 The Bloody Shirt by Stephen Budiansky Most Americans don?t realize that a large portion of our country was, once upon a time, overrun by barbarians. That age of barbarians isn?t covered in most history texts, and when it is, it?s usually called the Era of Reconstruction. And as many Southerners resisted reconstruction, they resorted to acts of barbarism to impose their terrible will over the rule of law. Stephen Budiansky?s new book, The Bloody Shirt: Terror After Appomattox, explores this age of barbarism?for age of barbarism it was. No other word can suffice to explain the acts of terror and violence committed by large numbers of Southern whites in the decades immediately following the Civil War. Budiansky?s book pulls no punches, and as a result it conjures palpable feelings of raw anger, frustration, and indignation. Southerners perpetrated injustice after injustice to keep blacks from exercising their rights as citizens as human beings. Northern whites who migrated south to hel...

It's bloody sloppy: carnage and damage
2008-04-29 11:56:00 Heard last night while dozing through yet another fly-on-the-wall cop-doc:Despite the carnage he caused no one was seriously hurtOuch! Carnage, as any working hack should know, means widespread slaughter (indeed the word's roots can be traced back to the Latin for flesh). You can't cause carnage without killing people; the miscreant in this case had merely smashed up a few cars while being chased by the police, so what he caused was damage, not carnage. Is it me, or is this kind of sloppy English becoming the norm as an increasing number of TV stations seek to fill our waking hours with low-rent programming?
