Bob Seger - Night Moves 1976
2007-11-23 16:19:00
Strange how the night moves, With Autumn closing in. The year was 1976, and Bob Seger, one of the hardest working rock and roll men in Detroit had finally broke the top 40 barrier with his “Night Moves” album. During the infancy of the so-called disco era, Night Moves was more than a refreshing change, it ...
Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band - We've Got Tonite (1978)
2007-10-26 08:45:00
Originally a hard-driving rocker in the vein of fellow Michigan garage rockers the Rationals and Mitch Ryder, Bob Seger developed into one of the most popular heartland rockers over the course of the '70s. Combining the driving charge of Ryder's Detroit Wheels with Stonesy garage rock and devotion to hard-edged soul and R&B, he crafted a distinctively American sound. While he never attained the... Bob Seger System - Ramblin' Gamblin' Man (1968)
2007-09-20 08:30:00
Originally a hard-driving rocker in the vein of fellow Michigan garage rockers the Rationals and Mitch Ryder, Bob Seger developed into one of the most popular heartland rockers over the course of the '70s. Combining the driving charge of Ryder's Detroit Wheels with Stonesy garage rock and devotion to hard-edged soul and R&B, he crafted a distinctively American sound. While he never attained the critical respect of his contemporary Bruce Springsteen, Seger did develop a dedicated following through constant touring with his Silver Bullet Band. Following several years of missed chances and lost opportunities, Seger finally achieved a national audience in 1976 with the back-to-back release of Live Bullet and Night Moves. After the platinum success of those albums, Seger retained his popularity for the next two decades, releasing seven Top Ten, platinum-selling albums in a row.Seger began playing music in 1961 as the leader of the Detroit-based trio the Decibels; his future manager, Ed...

Bob Seger - “Against the wind” It seems like yesterday But it was long ago Janey was lovely, she was the queen of my nights There in the darkness with the radio playlng low And the secrets that we shared The mountains that we moved Caught like a wildfire out of control Till there was nothing left ...
BOB SEGER roll archetype: an authentic hardworkin...

BOB SEGER & SILVER BULLET BAND - STRANGER IN TOWN (160 kb)(The best of Bob Seger, Listen: "We've Got Tonite" and "Still The Same") Stranger In Town Bob Seger Capitol 11698 Released: May 1978 Chart Peak: #4 Weeks Charted: 110 Certified Platinum: 5/30/78 Bob Seger's no longer a stranger in town. Since Night Moves, he's been expected eagerly, and he's almost six months overdue. Live Bullet put Seger on the national map of riding the secondary roads, and Night Moves, coming hard on its heels, proved that the Midwest's great journeyman rock & roller could cut it in studios and on singles charts as well as onstage. Seger's success was an affirmation of rock & roll's essential durability, because his homegrown, audience-honed music was derivative in the best sense. He was, after all, practically a rock & roll archetype: an authentic hardworking, hard-traveling man, a gambler whose best-selling album was the one on which he reviewed his life, adding up the score and decidi...

The Bob Seger System - Noa...
2006-12-12 02:10:03
The Bob Seger System - Noah(1969) 192kbpscourtesy of xxxrockrula.blogspot For reasons never entirely explained, Bob Seger suffered a bit of a breakdown shortly after Ramblin' Gamblin' Man, so he decided to bring Tom Neme, a guitarist/pianist, into the Bob Seger System to help lighten the load and share the burden. Thing is, Neme wound up taking over the band. It's hard to tell whether Seger endorsed his mutiny or if he was just so disinterested that he didn't put up a fight, but all the same, the second Seger album, Noah, is one strange affair. The band makes no secret of the change, stating on the back cover that "Seger will always be Bob Seger, (but) any change must come from the System and Tom Neme." So, the liner notes seem like a way to gloss over a real lack of leadership or a coup, depending on your point of view. This release holds together better than it would seem, but it's still an awkward album that's never sure where it wants to go. Ironic...
