Per promuovere l'utilizzo delle tecnologie senza fili, a Bologna è nato il Wireless Lab, un laboratorio che punta ad avere una forte rilevanza a livello europeo. L'iniziativa è stata realizzata grazie al Consorzio Marconi Wireless che ha ottenuto anche la collaborazione di Cisco System Italy. Come si legge in una nota per la presentazione del progetto, «il Consorzio Marconi Wireless metterà inoltre a disposizione uno spazio adeguato per ospitare nella propria sede un'area riservata a dimostrazioni a Pubbliche Amministrazioni e ad altri soggetti potenziali utilizzatori interessati ad approfondire la tematica».
