2008-04-29 13:24:00 A close friend of mine gave me a shocking news one day. She’ll be going to United Arab Emirates soon which means she’ll be leaving all her friends and loved ones for awhile in attempt to seek for a brighter future. I already knew about her plan of going out of the country but I didn’t realize it would be too soon. It really could have knocked me down with a feather. The first time I knew it, anxieties suddenly rushed through my veins. I am worried not because she may not be able to take hold of the new challenges in her life but because i am not yet prepared to lose a friend like her even just for awhile. 2008-02-18 05:56:00 My sister should be in the air on her way to the warm weather of Buenos Aires by now. Her plane was scheduled to depart from Chicago's O'Hare at 9:30 PM EST. When my parents spoke to her about 8 PM tonight, the plane's status was on-time so let's just hope it stayed that way.I won't see her again until she returns in late June after which time she should have completed her courses' final exams. I'm going to miss her. In fact, I'm missing her already. It was great having her home for so long. Her winter break was unusually long . . . almost two months in fact. But I hope she has a productive and memorable experience studying in and traveling throughout Argentina.I love you, Denise!

It's still disgustingly hot in Atlanta, we broke the "Target: Force" video game at Manuel's last night, Sidearm Delivery has shut down, Tomas Kloucek is still unemployed -- with all these negative signs and portents, it's time to leave Atlanta for a bit.Not sure what blogging will be like while I'm over there -- it could be really light as social pursuits distract me, could be really heavy as I wait for friends to get out of work. We'll see.In the meantime, I drove up to Cartersville, Georgia the other day. I'd been through Cartersville a few times previously, but always wrote it off as a collection of strip malls and mega-grocery stores. The cats are sniffing the area where his suitcases were, pacing around like little tigers, and I know they'll be pestering me for double attention.The cats have trained Rajeev well. They demand daily early-morning cuddles (on the couch for Bailey, in the bathroom for Leica) and he absolutely can't say no. I think he loves them as much as I do. Tomorrow morning they're going to get a rude shock when they realize he's gone and they're left with That Chick Who Doesn't Care How Cute We Are If She Hasn't Had Enough Sleep.

A special attention to details distinguishes the French aesthetic in areas ranging from architecture to home furnishings to the garbage collectors' uniforms. It's been a few years since I visited, but right now I'm feeling almost, virtually there again...Gotcha! I honestly don't recall seeing anyone -- certainly not any woman -- with this amount of girth in Paris... Maybe it's all of the mustard on fish (delish!) that keeps most of them so thin. Chris has left for work ("wuuhhk") and the contents of my luggage are strewn all over his “lounge room,” complete with a large jar of Vegemite and some new Bonds underwear to bestow upon my mates in San Francisco. (If you guys don't know about the Bonds brand, it's the best cotton EVER and Aussie men and women alike just love slipping into a pair of Bonds "knickers").I spent the rest of the week in Sydney walking around the city and attempting to impress Chris with my intimate knowledge of the city bus and ferry system--a knowledge somehow reminiscent of Dustin Hoffman's character in Rain Man.
