CD Review: Bonneville Soundtrack
2008-03-04 17:57:00 With a host of songs invoking the elements (Donovan’s “Catch the Wind,” Pete Droge’s “Under the Waves,” Bob Sinclair’s “Shining From Heaven”), the producers of the soundtrack for the new “middle-age girls gone wild” flick Bonneville seem to be aiming for a certain free-spirited sentimentality, and if that’s what you want, you got it. Despite the questionable inclusion of Chelo’s annoying tune “Cha Cha” - something like a mix between Ricky Martin and a karaoke machine, the rest of the soundtrack maintains a slightly rugged suburbanite mix of edgy fun tracks (you can just see a backyard barbeque sequence set to the Lazlo Bane song “Mama Told Me (Not to Come)”) followed by a melodic score provided by up-and-comer Jeff Cardoni (”CSI:Miami”, Where the Red Fern Grows).
