2008-12-29 01:53:00 The LA Times: Delaney Bramlett, 69, a singer, songwriter and producer who penned classic rock songs such as “Let It Rain” and worked with musicians George Harrison and Eric Clapton, died Saturday at UCLA Ronald Reagan Medical Center in Los Angeles as a result of complications from gallbladder surgery, his wife Susan Lanier-Bramlett said. Born in Mississippi in 1939, Bramlett came to Los Angeles in the 1960s and played guitar in the house band for the TV pop show “Shindig.” With his then-wife Bonnie Lynn he formed the short-lived Southern blues-rock band Delaney & Bonnie & Friends. The band toured as the opening act for Blind Faith, the supergroup that featured British guitarist Clapton. We liked the classic All American diner look of this eatery and the fact that it was almost always packed when we walked by. The popularity must also stem from the fact that it is located in the Ojai Arcade, the most popular mingling area of town. If you are arriving by car you will most likely find parking behind the eatery or on one of the side streets. Ojai Avenue gets quite busy during the day making parking there a problem. We were fortunate to be able to walk to Bonnie Lu's. No hassle just an easy stroll. The hostess welcomed us nicely. Several tables were being cleaned up and she offered us a choice. 2007-12-30 02:57:00 Some sad news that explains why the Empire shop was not open for a few days..."Christmas ended on a low note for all of us here this year. out mascot and friend, Bonnie, passed away Thursday, December 27. Bonnie was recently diagnosed with liver cancer, and the disease quickly weakened her during her last few days. there wasn't much hope that chemo would help her, and would only prolong her suffering. Tina and I decided that it was our responsibility to ease Bonnie's pain and have her euthanized. i was with her in the room, and held her paw and rubbed her head until she passed on to the great squirrel-chase in the skyit might seem silly to some people, but Bonnie was a big part of our family, and we'll miss her. our plan was to no longer do the "Ask Bonnie" portion of our website when the new site (coming soon) goes live, but we'll continue to answer questions and post comments until the site change. we hope to have a commemorative Bonnie shirt in the near future, maybe w...
