We own and operate a family erosion control business. When I'm not busy with family or work, I love to read. I'm in a reading group on Shelfari and we're all attempting to read 100 books in 2008. My shelf shows some of the books in my to-be-read pile for the challenge. As of the end of March, I've read 34 books, so I'm keeping pace pretty well. Hopefully, by the end of the year, I will have met the challenge. The best book I've read so far this year, in my opinion, is definitely The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett.--Tom

New Project for bookshelf
2008-03-27 14:20:00 So I mentioned I packed in another new project on top of the many dolls I am needing to complete. I am only perhaps 1/7th done with the new project.It's going to be just a rectangular piece of crocheted fabric which I can hook the corners of 2 shorter ends to the cabinet which I placed all my books and files there. I live near the furniture manufacturing area, so my house tends to get a dusty easily. I really really don't want to be cleaning as much as I can avoid doing it.So, I am making use of all my stash yarns and doing up this. This is probably one of my favorite stitch (I don't even know what it's called, I learned crochet at age of below 10, and back then there wasn't any specific names to the stitches known to me) as it look like knitted products. Ok, call me cheating...This makes the finished work feels thicker too, I guess if I were to crochet beanie with wool yarn, this may be pretty ideal, it definitely will keep heads warm..LOLI think this will turn out very colorf...

As can be seen in the picture it features other classic writers/poets and a few key literary works.* The Bookshelf *Reading is one leisure activity I wish I had more time for. The Bookshelf pays tribute to female authors of the 19th and 20th centuries and was made with the book lover in mind. The design was stitched on 28 count Café Mocha linen from Zweigart with DMC floss. This magnetic bookshelf is the work of Swen Krause and was designed for Nils Holger Moorman, a German furniture outfit. The unit consists of two parts, a giant metal slab that is attached to the wall horizontally or vertically, and individual shelf cubbies that have a strong magnet backing. Stick the cubbies onto the magnetic backing however your inner contemporary designer sees fit.
