It's small enough to carry comfortably and, unlike larger models, may be placed securely on a stool or, as in the video below, beside you on a couch. Tape operation is smooth and the Dolby a good job of suppressing tape noise. Repeated button presses didn't result in any failures. Sony, who led the market for years with the Walkman series, recently dropped their Connect Music Service, a laughable “competitor” to iTunes. Now, cutting your losses is fine; but I guess Sony learned the adage, “If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em.” The ZS-S2IP (pictured above) features a retractable dock for your iPod, and can output sound through it’s (relatively) huge boombox speakers.
