Don?t Turn Back the Page on Border Security
2008-02-03 14:00:00
At the end of last year, the President signed into law an omnibus spending bill that included provisions which will dramatically weaken our ability to secure the border and stop the flow of illegal immigrants and potential enemies entering our country. As a staunch supporter of a secure-the-border-first immigration policy, I joined over 100 of my House Republican colleagues in sending a letter to Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi requesting that the contentious language included in the omnibus spending bill be removed. The language undermines important parts of the Secure Fence Act which became law in 2006. The Secure Fence Act contains important requirements and guidelines for the construction of fences along the southern border. It mandates the use of double-layered fencing and outlines specific construction zones and benchmarks to be used. The American people have been loud and clear about their disappointment with the lack of action on the part of the Federal government to se...

America?s Border and Sovereignty in Giuliani?s Hands
2007-12-08 15:01:00
As much as I like Rudy and honor what he did for our nation following 9/11, I have some very big concerns. You be the judge . . .A few weeks ago elitist Republican Texas Governor Rick ?Good Hair? Perry endorsed his Trans Texas Corridor pal, Rudy Giuliani, for the Republican Presidential nomination. If there were any doubts as to where Giuliani stands on the NAFTA highway, those doubts have been cleared up; - much to the dismay of anti-illegal immigration conservatives. Giuliani?s law firm is the exclusive legal counsel for Cintra ? the Spanish corp. that will build and control the TTC for 50+ years. (FYI - The TTC is the first leg of the NAFTA highway.)According to Bloggernews, ?When Texas legislators tried to block and slow the Trans Texas Corridor, as the folks of Texas strongly desired, Gov. Perry went against them all and vetoed it. And most recently Gov. Perry told those of us who want a border fence that what we believe is ?idiocy? .Here's the quote from the Associated Press?M...

Illegal Immigration and Border Security, by US Rep. Ron Paul
2007-12-02 07:00:00
Illegal immigration is on the forefront of many Americans? minds lately and with good reason. The Center for Immigration Studies has recently reported that our immigrant population is now 37 million, up from 27 million in 1997. 1 in 3 of these immigrants are here illegally. We have a problem that has exploded in the last 10 years with no appreciable change in border security since September 11 when we were supposed to take a hard look at the problem. We have security issues at home and our resources are running thin. Our education system is stretched, and immigration accounts for virtually all the national increase in public school enrollment in the last 2 decades. There is a worker present in 78% of immigrant households using at least one major welfare program, according to the same study. It?s no surprise then that often times these immigrants can afford to work for lower wages. They are subsidized by our government to do so. read more

What border security?
2007-11-06 06:18:00
The Bush administration has been pounding the table about security and the lessons of 9-11.  Besides exploiting 9-11 what did the Bush administration learn?  They learned how not to find their best weapon against the democrats - Osama Bin Laden.  They learned how to talk tough and do nothing but line the pockets of corporations ...
Chertoff Pursues Border Security
2007-10-31 01:53:00
Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff has used his power to bypass a ruling by a federal judge. The judge ordered the Department of Homeland Security to halt construction of the border fence in Arizona because of environmental issues. Chertoff used his authority to continue construction.Defenders of Wildlife and the Sierra Club are the groups that sued and are now criticizing Chertoff for his decision to bypass the ruling. They claim that Chertoff is aware that the border fence has some failures and that his decision contradicts his decision to study the environmental effects of the fence in Texas. What these tree hugging groups do not realize is that our national security and sovereignty is more important than some fish dying. These environmentalists care more about animals than they do about the safety of Americans. American's cannot enjoy these conservation areas because they are being run by smugglers and it is dangerous for Americans to be there. It is American land and ...
