Evaluating these ups and downs, I think the balance was not very good, and the best thing to do on these days is to sleep early and wake up on a better shape. However, I'm very happy with the sequel of albums made available at Loronix. Take a look at the last five or eight posts and you should agree with me. We had excellent albums and most of them never had a chance of being reissued on CD.I believe I made the right choice postponing my sleep time for a few hours. This 1962 record does contain a good bit of, how you say, queijo in its unsubtle arrangements, but it is for the most part an accessible, entertaining, and bubbly affair. And with musicians of the caliber of Rahsaan Roland Kirk, Paul Gonsalves, Clark Terry, Jim Hall (who can't help but be tasteful), and Phil Woods all contributing ideas, a baseline quality is assured. Most significantly, Jones goes beyond the expected Jobim and Bonfa cuts to fit Lerner & Loewe and even Mingus into bossa nova's bright clothes. It's so reminiscent of the cocktail party music for those old movies from the late 50's and 60's.Bossa Nova was king then, and this is a fabulous feel good nostalgia recording.
