AstroBoy Director Replaced by David Bowers - SendMeRSS

AstroBoy Director Replaced by David Bowers We've been covering Imagi Animation's AstroBoy CGI flick for quite a while, posting the first official concept art photo and an interview with the director at the time, Colin Brady. The budding filmmaker has been a long-time visual effects artist and character developer for Imagi. However, in a very odd move, Imagi announced today that Flushed Away director David Bowers would be replacing Brady. AstroBoy is the $50 million CGI project from Imagi Animation studios. The film is a revamp of the beloved Japanese manga series and has been described as an "epic sci-fi fantasy" movie with a "deep dark human struggle" that they're going to explore. The film is planned for release in 2009 from Warner Brothers. Imagi Animation is the same studio that developed TMNT last year, another franchise revamp. New director David Bowers started originally as an animator on Who Framed Roger Rabbit before joining Steven Spielberg's Amblimation in London. His...

Bowers & Wilkins Liberty wireless music system
2008-01-22 09:36:00
Bowers & Wilkins Liberty wireless music systemFrom the makers of the CES Award winning Zeppelin iPod Dock boombox, Bowers and Wilkins are bringing you a new wireless surround sound system. What’s new here is that it outputs up to 8 channels wirelessly, a full 2 more than any other system I have ever heard of.That means you’ll have 7.1 surround sound if you want it, and it will all be wireless. Well, it can’t be completely wireless as there is still the whole issue of getting power to the speakers and the receiver, but it can transfer the audio signals wirelessly. That’s not even the most amazing part; the most amazing part is that it can automatically adjust for wireless interference so there is less delay and high clarity in the audio instead of an echo every time something interferes. I don’t have a price, but its coming sometime this fall, and I wouldn’t expect it to be too terribly cheap.(Via SlashGear.)

Flushed Away - Dir: David Bowers / Sam Fell

With an Aardman movie, a good level of quality is assured. You can always guarantee great attention to detail, great visuals and a pacy story. You certainly get a great deal of that here, but something seems to be missing which may just be the the final layer of Aardman fairy dust that has been sprinked on some of their other fun movies. Hugh Jackman and Kate Winslet certainly add star power but perhaps aren't the most recognisable of voices. Maybe it's just because the movie centres around rats that it felt less heart-warming. A cut above many animated movies out there, and one for Aardman fans, but don't expect too much. This is a JM SUCK IT AND SEE.
Bowers & Wilkins Six-Eight Series Speakers

The British manufacturer B&W is coming out with a host of new loudspeakers that marry the perfect blend of technology with looks. These fourth generation speakers are a spin-off of its hugely popular 600 Series. They incorporate technologies from the firm's reference-standard 800 Series as well. The 686 is a new entry-level model and is a very compact ( 10.4" x 6.7" x 9.8" HWD) two-way vented design with a 5" Kevlar bass/midrange driver and a 1" Nautilus tube-loaded aluminum dome tweeter. The 685 is housed a somewhat larger enclosure, with a 6.5 " Kevlar cone bass/midrange driver and the 1" Nautilus tube-loaded. Next up in the range is a two-and-half-way, vented-box, floor stander that features two new 6.5" Kevlar cone bass/midrange drivers-The 684. And last in line is the 683, which is a true three-way vented-box system featuring two high power, low distortion 6.5" aluminum bonded to paper/Kevlar bass drivers. It even has the 6" FST midrange driver and 1" aluminum tweeter and Nauti...
A Chris Bowers Argument ...

... on MyDD about presidential preference polling that I think even diehard conservatives will largely agree with. I wholeheartedly agree with the first five items he asks polling firms to do but don't see the 6th item as either necesary or providing sufficient additional value to warrant its widespread use. I'd even list the 6 items in the same order Bowers does, with the first item being the most important request. Bowers' 6 requests: 1 - Stop pushing undecideds to make up their minds. 2 - Include all candidates who are running. 3 - Stop including candidates who have not yet declared they are running. 4 - Conduct at least as many polls of early states as you conduct nationally. 5 - Give us favorable ratings and name recognition numbers, too. 6 - More bells and whistles.
